Wow great job thanks for sharing this video 73 from kb2uew
I liked and subscribed! That way, TH-cam will be more likely to show your content to others interested in ham radio, so they can learn from and enjoy your content too, and your channel can grow. POTA/SOTA on!
I like your activation and your setup
I just activated your video by watching it.
Wow healthy walk congratulations fantastic inspirations video 73 from kb2uew.
Great video
Hi! Long time since you were active... hope that you are well.. Vy73de sa7aku Ken
Couldn’t find Hams To Go website. Lots of tasty ham sites though.
I'm hankering to do some POTA. Thanks for the info. Looks like you have your battery figured out. I've been meaning to wire up a small, cheap BMS to protect my extra LIPOs, now that I'm not doing RC stuff anymore. Connect a balance connector and XT60 to the BMS and you have a flexible way to keep your batteries from over-discharging, and potentially and blowing up in your backpack. LIPOs can be nasty.
Great channel. Found you thanks to a comment on one of Radio Prepper's video's. I like QRP a lot and have a KX2. I really like your antenna launching system - so portable! I often use a slingshot and fishing line. It's much bulkier. You need to learn code! It's so much more feasible for QRP. For a great, fun way to learn morse code check out the Long Island CW club. I just joined them a month or so ago and it's been amazing. Looking forward to more videos from you. Maybe we'll see you in class in LICW. 73
Nicely done. Elevation and good antenna will overcome almost any QRP obstacles.
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions! I will try to incorporate more on air time in future videos.
You definitely have my interest as I am a big fan of QRP and compact, portable gear. You have a really nice set-up. I love the antenna launcher! I enjoyed your video, but PLEASE let us see you in action while operating. What if you patiently sat in the audience watching Willie set up for the show and then he never strikes a note and leaves? Later he comes back and tells you how the show went he played without you seeing a thing. Same thing applies here. Edit the video and include 2-3 contacts. That is what we want to see. Now subbed! 73!
Good stuff! My POTA kit is based on an FT-817ND. We’re going to have to do an activation sometime. Don / W5DON Euless TX
Great video! I operate a 817ND and use an EF random (35.5 feet) and a 26 feet counterpoise. As you said if your chasing/hunting for parks the QRP has a hard time cutting thru bigger stations. But if your activating the stations find you. My first activation of an ATNO here in WV, I made 13 contacts in 35 minutes! Again thanks for sharing the pros and cons. Juddie WD8WV
Thanks for the great effort! 2 out of 3 isn't bad at all especially with all the miles you put in. 73 de Jeff AB6MB
I think you hit all the important points. QRP works! The most important thing is to put a signal out there ... Good explanation! 73 de Dick N4BC
It was great working you the other day. Even at 100w, sometimes it's hard to get through a pile to get a P2P. :D We do use 100w regularly, but have had great success with our QRP rigs too. When I finally get up the nerve to do a CW activation, I'll do QRP for sure, just to limit how many callsigns I need to copy. :D Thanks for the video, I always enjoy watching. 73 de w8tam
Thanks for the video. Enjoyed it. Hope to make contact again on down the log . 73 KE8GDD
Fine business! I'll be using this video as reference when folks ask for assistance. Thank you so much!!! 73 de w8tam
Nice job. What antenna?
Thanks Doug. I use an endfed wire. 29' in length which I support with a SOTA mast. At the feed point I have a 9:1 unun which I made myself. I also use a 29' length of counterpoise. The antenna is basically a home made "packtenna mini" if you are familiar with those. I'll try to make a better video of it soon. Thanks for the comment!
Darryl, I enjoy your videos and also enjoy our QSO's. Please keep up the good work...John (KE8IHX)
Nice to see. Gud luck!
Badass! Cool intro and ride-along, I love POTA vids. I've been thinking about making some myself, so very inspiring. Prius not nearly as cool as the motorcycle tho ;) Thanks for sharing ~de K8VOX
Thanks, I still need to work on my production skills but it's a start!
Dude you are absolutely correct! ...but don't forget to bring water! ...in other words FUEL! Whether you riding 2-wheels or 4, walking or climbing hand over fist sooner or later you're gonna run out of fuel and whether it's a power bar or gourmet summit sandwich it always taste great outdoors. Even better on the summit! Assuming you got some liquid to wash it down with be it water, gaterade or tea
Very cool and congrats on your first DX! EA1DR is an avid park chaser, I have worked him a number of times running QRP wattages. He has quite the setup look him up on QRZ... de K0EAP
