The sounds are available on the Clarii App. Some are free, some are paid. You'll need to use the app the download those extra sounds. In fact, recently Robkoo has added a lot of new sounds with their version 2.08 firmware and app. The Mini's big brother, the R1, along with the expected higher price point and capabilities, has those sounds built in right from the factory (assuming you have updated the sound bank and firmware).

Looking nice, I have 3 Akai and Sylpho, which works great as a controller for Swam and Omnisphere and Kontakt instruments. Swam+Omnisphere pass and arpegiators make wonderful combinations. Sylpho is my favorite but they just went buncrupt, instead of developing their EWI, which was really the best few years ago, they started to make their own synth, and this is crowded market. Still Sylpho is wireless, has 5 octaves, and works great with PC. Clarii ha only 3 octaves and for many wind and brass instruments it is not enough. You can check some of my recordings, just Google "duch sylphyo".

I think both instruments have their merits. WABL is aimed squarely at the whistle players (and maybe bagpipe) and the design choices they made are geared highly towards making the instruments look like a traditional tin whistle, there isn't really any ways where they could fit anything like a display, or even built-in speaker/memory/electronics to make the instrument that can play standalone. It is essentially a whistle midi controller. clarii mini is designed to be both a stand alone instrument (hence, it can store sounds, has built-in speaker etc.) and also the instrument is modelled I supposed more after a combination of a recorder and clarinet. so it is larger (but not too large, I have tried playing some of the other EWIs and mostly find them unwieldly). And even if you don't want to use the built-in display controls on the instruments, Robkoo also provided mobile app to control and change sounds if that is your preferred setup. It also has a whistle fingering mode if you want to play it like a low key whistle I suppose :) Also note that the price is essentially the same as a WABL2 and provides a lot more functionality than WABL2 (minus USB midi I suppose)

@@Melodic_Alchemy Agree. There is not enough room on the WARBL2 to add extra fingering without compromising it to the whistle crowd. I prefer the size of the Clarii as I am a sax player. Not enough pads to get a clarinet layout. As I use wind controller for iOS apps I need a way to get a vibrato without relying on in app simulators. Can’t find any info on how the motion sensors transmit. I did find the on line manual but it doesn’t cover the midi map out. Can’t use the editor app without the Clarii. If it was on Amazon like the R1 monstrosity I would give it shot.

@@andropolonsky you can either activate portamento mode with the * button, or you can use the right thumb rocker-switch for sliding. :)

@@KinabaluFluteCentre its a future that exists only on R1, but not Mini..am i right? And its bends in two directions - low/ high? Its a programmable?..can one pitch shift an octave? Or Mini is also has possibilites to bend a single note?

@@andropolonsky pitch bend using the right thumb can go in either direction. How wide is programmable. For the mini, you probably can only use the portamento settings or use the gyroscope.

@@XavsLo I am doing the vibrato much as I would do on my real flute. The R1 does not have a bite sensor, so any changes to the tone on onboard sounds is done via breath pressure only, or via the settings. The R1 does have gyroscopic sensors that does make it possible to use physical motion to turn vibrato on and off that way as well.

official.robkoo.com/ is the web address to their site, at least on the top Google search. From what I understand, the product was initially offered on KickStarter to crowdsource funding, and is now offered on their official store since it's now fully funded and developed and out on the market. I'm not sure, but it probably is also still available on KickStarter, just as a fully funded product now.
