    My grandfather had a 1962 Brockway, which looks just like yours. He bought brand new from Brockway Trucks in Albany, New York. He had a 220 Cummmins with a 5 speed with a 2 speed rear axle. I never knew that engine was 743 cid. He hauled hay and straw with his, from Schoharie to Long Island. He traded it in on a 1967 R-600 Mack, first Mack around these parts with a Maxidyne engine. I think your truck would look great painted Farmall red with black fenders. Also find a grill fraud to mount on the front, you can have your name or something else painted on that. Good luck with your project, hope I get to see it , when it is done. Thanks, Robert Benninger.

    • @scatteredrustyprojects
      @scatteredrustyprojects หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cathy9101 it was designed that way. When this was rebuilt, they added gas safety valves to the oven and broiler. With the safety, if the pilot in either of those goes out, it wont continually leak gas. It shuts off if there is no pilot to keep the sensor warm. The wood and the gas pipes are pretty well separated. The gas pipes are not located close to the areas of high heat from the wood. We've been using the stove for almost a decade. The one thing I did change was using the pilot for the gas range burners. The range pilot does not have a safety, I guess because it is visible. However, when a guest of air would come through the door, it would blow out the pilot. I turned it off and we just use a liter on the range burners. ----Thanks for watching!

    At GM, we had two units nationwide that had a porous case. We had one in the shop that was a repeat failure, because of the intake hose was folded over on the throttle body. It was an in-range failure, so no MAF code was present. Those units can be temperamental when they fail.

    • @scatteredrustyprojects

      MAF problems without codes can be tough to find. Too bad the scanner doesn't have "desired" data for the MAF.

    • @VitoVeccia
      @VitoVeccia 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@scatteredrustyprojects there was a trick that I learned years ago. If you don't have a similar vehicle to compare data to, count the grams per second. At idle, it should be one gram per second, for every cylinder. Plus or minus one gram overall. So for a V8 it's 7-9 grams. But we found our problem, because GM engineering had us take a snapshot of data display. After we emailed it over, they did a frame by frame plot and graph on the tech2. I wish I could remember more, but unfortunately it was years ago.

    I started working on the golf course when I was 13. My grandfather was a superintendent at the local country club from 1939 to 1955. I moved from maintenance at the local public course to the country club in 1976 working for the guy who had replaced my grandfather in 1955. They still had two 1954 Locke mowers that my dad had run when he got back from Korea in 1955. I loved walking a Locke. Everyone else who worked there would always take the caster wheel off the back and put the sulky on. But you had so much more control with the caster wheel on the back. We had one set up high to cut places where the rough mowers wouldn't fit and the other was set up to cut approaches and the areas around the greens and traps around the green. The great thing about the caster wheel was you could walk the Locke down a finger of grass that protruded into a sand trap and you could turn that Locke right back on itself and cut your way right back out. With the sulky the best you could do was try and "nose" your way down there with the front reel several times. When you got done, you had a higher traveling gear so you could get to your next set of greens and traps. I loved being out there by myself and walking behind that Locke. Fond memories.

      6L80 is a pretty good unit to build. Read through the comments here for some additional info. One supplement I'd like to add when I get the chance is using 1500 grit paper to polish the aluminum that the pistons seal against. I ought to do that soon. Thanks for watching!
