The Ocean Blue
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 19 เม.ย. 2023
With the release of their self-titled debut, The Ocean Blue quickly achieved widespread acclaim and radio & MTV airplay with top 10 Modern Rock/College Radio hits like "Between Something and Nothing", "Drifting, Falling", and "Vanity Fair". Followed by Cerulean, Beneath the Rhythm and Sound , and See The Ocean Blue, the band's fanbase grew with each release.
The band continued to several records, including 2000's Davy Jones Locker and 2004's Waterworks. In 2013, the band released their first full length record in a decade, Ultramarine, on Korda Records. In 2015, the band worked with Sire Records to reissue their first three albums on vinyl, and toured North America and South America, where some of their most passionate fans reside.
In 2019, the band returned with the beautifully powerful Kings and Queens / Knaves and Thieves, and has continued to tour for this release and the newly re-issued vinyl of See The Ocean Blue (2022) and Davy Jones Locker (2023).

"Denmark" is a classic Ocean Blue song, and the beautiful, intellectual and sophisticated video by Zeke Anders captures it brilliantly. The first line of the song "Like mist or a daydream, made of substance can you feel it?” begins a lyrical trip into musings on the past, the present moment, and the future direction of the band. The setting is the band’s tour of Denmark, with all that country’s timeless Nordic beauty, at a time which marked a turning point for the band and its members. The video by Anders does an amazing job of capturing all of these themes and moods. Better to see it than explain it.

Not to complain, but this is what I thought the music of the 1990s was going to sound like. I’ll never forget I was in a music store when this song came over the PA system and I was immediately hooked. I thought “wow, the sound of the 90s is here!” Then came Kurt Cobain and his whiny grunge 🐂💩 and ruined it for everybody! Sorry but grunge was a style of music that only gave rise to the downfall in musical talent, which we are currently witnessing today.

I Saw Ocean Blue open for The Mighty Lemon Drops back in the early90s and it was one of those rare gems of a show where the opener was better than the headliner!

[Verse 1] Another radical dream Becomes a long lost friend Beneath the rhythm and sound Lies a another meaning And if you ask me today To say just what I'm thinking You might flee my reply And run it upwards and run downwards [Chorus] It was so sublime It was so sublime It was so sublime It was so-so-so-ba-ba-ba-lime [Verse 2] This entangled up dream Still plays on illusion Trying hard to escape More jangled delusion And if you ask me today And you ponder life It's not just what you think It grows outward and it holds you [Chorus] It's so sublime It's so sublime It was so sublime It was so-so-so-ba-ba-ba-lime [Verse 3] This American dream Becomes elusive If you're ready or not It may reach out and grab you And if you ask me today And you wonder why You might flee its reply And run it upwards and run downwords [Outro] It was so sublime It was so sublime It was so sublime It was so-so-so-ba-ba-ba-lime
Quietly, almost elusively Almost invisibly I found that I For a moment Had slipped away Ripped in two, then pasted back again Then crumpled up inside Then tossed aside You know that It feels so bad Oh Mercury Oh Mercury Happened once, then it Happened twice Then it happened thrice And now a fourth? You know that? Did you know that? Ripped in two, then pasted back again Then crumpled up inside Then tossed aside You know that It feels so bad Oh Mercury Oh Mercury Quietly, almost elusively Almost invisibly I found that I For a moment Had slipped away Ripped in two, then pasted back again Then crumpled up inside Then tossed aside You know that It feels so bad Oh Mercury Oh Mercury Oh Mercury Oh Mercury
[Verse 1] Her world came crashing down And all that it contained A million pieces of dreams Coming apart at the seams [Chorus 1] But she twists and she whirls Dismissing it all away Wasn't quite the same As it was yesterday [Verse 2] Her night begins the day Why think, when we can play I find it so hard to find A certain dress of that kind [Chorus 1] As she twists and she whirls And she dances it all away The problems persist They won't go away [Chorus 2] She twists and she whirls Dancing it all away Would rather see the night Than the reason of the day [Bridge] I find it so hard to find (So hard) Any reason to this kind [Chorus 1] As she twists and she whirls And she dances it all away The problems persist They won't go away [Chorus 2] She twists and she whirls Dancing it all away Would rather see the night Than the reason of the day
[Verse 1] Words that form a sentence Words that form a phrase In a poem Or a letter Could not convey the meaning Of what this man has done In a painting On a canvas [Verse 2] And as the colors fading They dictate my mood Can you see me? Are you near me? I find myself on canvas I find myself on stage Can you see me? Are you near me? [Chorus] And I long to know you're real And I long for you to be a part of me And I long to know you're real And I long for you to be a part of me [Guitar Solo] [Verse 3] In the fading twilight I sit and stare at her And all her beauty Her beauty You know I have to wonder Why all great men must die And leave their treasure They leave their treasure
