Sci-Fi Economics: Using Speculative Fiction to Imagine Alternative Futures
A key problem in advancing economic theory is that one cannot conduct significant experiments with new systems or paradigms. We have only one planet, and only one global economy. There are a handful of exceptions and natural experiments, but new policies must largely interact with existing structures and institutions that confound results. This creates inherent uncertainty as to any new approac...

What a perfect interplay between head-, heart-,bellybrain and our world, this approach really gives hope and confidence to be a practical solution - compassion in action. What a gift ! Many thanks to you all for this event.
Thank You Swamiji!
Amazing talk! Thank you so much, Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri for coming to ASU with this important talk on compassion in action! A virtue much more needed to put into practice in today's world.
"We are not a monolith." LOVE this. As a NunatuKavut Inuit whose identity is under attack from the Nunatsiavut and ITK, I appreciate your open embrace of native cousins.
This is all making a very convoluted excuse for why the US can not in fact be a democracy, why black people and Republicans can never be trusted with the vote, and so on. The national security state must run everything as no one else can be trusted except for them and their psychophant regime flunkies and appratchiks. This video is itself a form of reflexive control b/c it is making the case for why Americans must not be allowed to have any say in their own communities much less their own country.
What is up with the creepy sonify and haptics ritual? I don't understand wtf that is about. Maybe I missed something
Promo'SM 😄
Nice one.Ethical development is paramount, especially in today's world where life ethics is dieing. That's why I specialized on ethics on my channel.
does ethical issue always a negative?
Stop this nonsense. Several monkeys end up dying because of your useless testing.
I'll pass on the feminist ethics...
Very powerful
Pregnant women have absolutely all right over the fetus. The fetus lives inside of a person. The women have the right to decide if she wants the baby or not.
The woman does not have the right to kill

thank you so much

Very well explained
To answer the home birth question: potential to be charged could be due to no vaccinations being administered. (Which has been arguably the very reason the US has the highest number of new born fatalities, than all the other industrialized countries combined.)
Hope that the voice can volume up
Brexit has happened and no it is not Russian, take a Sociology course. It was triggered by mass immigration and "No Go Zones" as exposed by Vice News before the Brexit vote. Then Climate deniers at 25:02. Dude took three courses about weather science and Climate change is cyclical. Your fellow PhD from ASU Reynolds wrote, Climate change is a feature of the geological time. If you start using false pretenses, you whole ethical argument is TRASH.
I can't believe I am the first person to thumbs up this video.
You are an idiot which is good news that you are a minority.
What about virtue ethics?
Why don't you just go out your door and ask a Navajo native American about what the truth is about the 150 million native American.. so called Savage's the the United States of America nearly wiped out and off the planet?
Honestly.. why are you having to teach this to anyone.. ? everybody should already know..." We are just a stran in the web of life, whatever we do to the web..we do to ourselves..."..cheif Seattle told this to president of the United States ...and what is bad..if you hurt someone.., why is it so difficult to teach scruples?.If you don't care about other people's hearts..., Then you really don't care about yourself.. or your family..or this planet..!!!!!!
Simply..if you hurt someone.... very likely.. you have created pain..and will be held accountable for the pain that you created....or is that too hard to understand..?
Why don't you just listen to psychology of the law of one.. lectures by Scott mandelker.. on you tube....if any of you had studdied what you claim to be about... you wouldn't have to try to lecture.. long redundant ego based off the wall ..ways that are so full of watering down boring Case studies.. that make no difference to me at all..
Hi there- how many sanctuaries in CA?
RD, Any references from this I could have? NLL
Holy shit I like how thorough and correct you are but you said the same thing 3 times in a row with slightly different wording. That could've been edited down a bit. Nice work otherwise.
Very helpful info.
Where are the slides?
If you're going to post a question and answer discussion it help if extra mics are available for others besides the key speaker.
When you are looking for a word at approximately 39:40, could some words be "witnessing", "reifying", or "experiencing"?
great lecture!
Here's my basic approach to this issue: if death is so wonderful, then what's stopped everyone from just killing themselves?
Most humans will soon be obsolete.I suggest something like UBI, population control and grow new children in artificial wombs as ordinary people won't have the income (and interest/pleasure) to have them. And religious extremists do more bad than good in a society, so I don't think that importing religious extremists from other countries is a good option.
1:00:18 "2 billion jobs to disappear by 2030" Ok, let's look at that slide. In the upper part are shown the jobs that will be automated, on the lower part are shown new jobs that will be created. Let's talk about those new jobs that will be created. robot designers, engineers, repairmen - in that year robots will be better at doing those jobs. robot trainers - why would they need a trainer, when they'll be able to learn themselves, maybe even better, or transfer their knowledge and skills from one to all other. Even if there would be needed human trainers, it won't be needed many as robots can share their acquired information, skills one to others. robot fashion designers - robots will be better at it; 3D printer repairmen - robots will be better at it; Product designers, stylists and engineers for 3D printers; 3D printer "ink" sellers - is this a joke? Artificial general intelligence will take over and design better processors, better artificial intelligence. AI scientists, AI researchers will keep Moore's law a reality. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Artificial general intelligence will be more intelligent than humans. That means bye bye jobs. Who will hire humans so they won't become jobless and homeless instead of using robots which will be better than humans? Even if we'll soon be able to upload information into our brains that doesn't mean everyone will have a job, due the their automation.
