Circular Conversations Ep.9: Ali Fenn
“If we can speed the quest to getting everybody online globally, that has a massive impact and to me that’s the biggest of the silver linings.”
We’re delighted to have Ali Fenn on episode 9 of Circular Conversations, a series of loose and low-fi chats with circular economy champions. Ali is President of ITRenew, where she leads the creation of new circular data centre models and sustainable technology solutions that are changing how the industry designs, sources, uses and reuses IT hardware. Ali’s impressive work with hyper scalers, service providers and enterprises worldwide has seen her named to the iMasons IM100 and as one of Silicon Valley Business Journal’s 100 Women of Influence.
Ali joined Jamie Hall to discuss the drastic rise in demand for data centres over the past 12 months, the desire from hyper scalers to achieve their net zero goals and how close we really are to a circular economy.

It's a really beautiful approach to furniture, but the pieces look like they would end up in a gallery or the lobby of a fancy company. For it to really matter, these pieces would need to be in peoples' homes, be affordable and available. Imagine you had instead honed in on a set of basic Al castings and hardware, combined with a process technology that allows decentralized recycling. Imagine people saving up their plastic waste for their next chair, hackerspaces collecting failed 3D prints.
