How to be funny without trying to be funny. This show is still amazing today, and my absolute favourite together with Miami Vice. The remake series they've done recently of Magnum is just an absolute and utter disaster.
Although I like the new Magnum PI. The original will always be Iconic.

New Higgins sucks big time. No charm, personality or charisma.
Hillerman's English accent is spot on, as is his impression of an Englishman of that type. Very, very impressive. I would never have twigged that he was a Texan.

@Radbod Egal John Hillerman died almost 5 years ago. Roger E. Mosley died yesterday.
I can because there's a fundemental flaw in it and it's the reason why I looked up one day whether he was English or American. It's because everyone with an native English accent of that variety does an extra R sound on their hanging A sounds. e.g. "IDE-ER" instead of "idea". Even Hugh Laurie and Angela Lansbury says "idear" when they're using American accents and it is a dead giveaway to Americans they're not using their natural accent no matter how good they are. Apparently Americans can hear it more easily because every time I pointed it out to someone British they claim they can't hear it, but it's there. Hillerman doesn't have the r because it's not easy for Americans to copy it, if at all, since it's a very subconscious inflection.

@Desi365 he was one of the Johnsons in blazing saddles, thats how i worked out he wasnt english, as an englishman, his performances as higgins are excellent.

Thanks for the post and the info! I have this version on a fantastic collection called JAZZ AFTER DARK, which I think there are a few for different jazz artists. The Monk edition is stunning, but no info.
