Bronze Age Era comic book podcast. Each Tuesday, Kevin Jank and I (Michael Dell) take a comedic look at a different comic from the 1970s or 80s, explaining the book's history and characters and discussing the careers of its creators.
The channel also features classic episodes of the LCS Hockey Radio Show and The Ed Show, two long-running audio podcasts I did with my pals Larry and The Ed. The LCS show covers hockey, TV, movies, conspiracies, and assorted nonsense, while The Ed Show chronicles the adventures of a crazy old man from Vegas.
If you enjoy the podcasts, please consider visiting One Nine Books (oneninebooks.com), a small independent press I run that specializes in mysteries. Flea Market Fantasy and LCS Hockey T-shirts are available at merch.oneninebooks.com.

Vampire Tales 3 (1973) | Flea Market Fantasy 269 #comics
This week's Vampire Tales issue gives us a two-for-one deal with Satana and Morbius! In the first story, Satana, the Devil's Daughter, makes friends with some Satanists, and then in the second story, Morbius the Living Vampire, fights an evil cult. And the Satana story features exceptional art from Esteban Maroto.
Each Tuesday, Flea Market Fantasy reviews a different comic book from the 1970s or 1980s, discussing the book's history, characters, and creators and breaking down the story and art. It's a humorous celebration of all things comics.

The month of SHOCKtober kicks off with Frankenstein fighting Dracula to the death! The great John Buscema drew this issue of the 1970s Marvel Frankenstein series. Awesome!

Another shocktastic selection! You guys really bring these old comics back to life-Victor would be proud!
@@StudioGallup Jank is actually assembled from the parts of dead accountants and Taco Bell menu items.
The Phantom Stranger is a really strange character (no pun intended), such a cool design and crazy powers, extremely convoluted origins, limitless potential to make stories exploring themes like memory and purpose, but so heavily underutilized. Kinda like the Creeper yk, some issues here and there, totally forgotten, a complete reboot and then relegated to some appearances once again. I mean, to someone pretend to be a lunatic while fighting crime, this can definitely cost something in the man's sanity, but yeah no, let's make it like any other superhero comic story.
@@matheusalves5160 Wow, you sure know your Phantom Stranger! I've only read the one issue, and I kind of wish I knew less about him.
@@FleaMarketFantasy Totally get it, lol. Phantom Stranger is really far from being well written or having actual interesting stories, I'm in it for the idea, mostly
@@matheusalves5160 Not for his giant gold medallion and enviable fashion sense? He is one snappy dresser.
@@FleaMarketFantasy The James Brown of otherworldly magic and stuff. Funkiest wizard/angel/Judas ever

@@matheusalves5160 It's Schocktastic!
This episode was so electrifying it could bring back the dead.
@@StudioGallup You used the same joke on the covers video!
I didn't reuse it, I revived it. I thought that would be appropriate for a Frankenstein story.
@@StudioGallup Ridiculous.
Excellent choice for October! I am sure this week's episode is gonna be electrifying enough to wake the day!
@@StudioGallup Wake the day? You need an editor.
Terrible supervillains, I'm in! Lol. May have not been a great issue, but still a great episode. Tell Jank you can't have Turner D Century in this issue cuz Daredevil needs a chance to win.
@@MrSpyderman Yeah, the only thing better than one terrible villain is a team of terrible villains.
I'm a hugh Godzilla fan. This was a fun episode. The wrestling references made me chuckle. I'm looking forward to the omnibus that collects all these issues that's coming out in October. Thanks guys.
@@MrSpyderman I would have liked it better if Godzilla actually, you know, looked like Godzilla.
Mike Dell and Janks, this episode got a lot of views. Glad to see your show getting more attention. It's a great podcast. Please keep the episodes coming!
People love seeing how bad Superman is at baseball.
@@FleaMarketFantasy I remember reading a novel about Superman's lost years as a young man. He was trying to find himself and left home, rambling around like David Carradine's character in Kung Fu. I don't recall the title, but I thought he played for the minors for a bit in that book. Obviously, the author of that book did not read this comic.
@@StudioGallup He still would have been the best hitter on the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Mike Dell, I'm sorry Janks won't marry you. But you have to understand that accountants have many enemies😁
He's a liar just like that bum Superman. Who should Lois Lane marry instead of Superman?
@@FleaMarketFantasy Who should Lois Lane Marry? Check out my Superman meets Regarding Henry storyline: After a brutal fight with Superman, Lex Luthor sustains a head injury that alters his personality, making him kind and compassionate, though still brilliant. In a remarkable redemption arc, Lex uses his intellect to fight crime and create a safer world, rendering Superman’s role nearly irrelevant. This infuriates Superman, who now finds himself sidelined from both crime-fighting and Lois Lane's bedroom. When Lois interviews the newly transformed Lex for the newspaper, she falls in love with him, driving Superman mad with jealousy. Consumed by rage, Superman goes on a violent rampage to eliminate Lex, but in doing so, he inadvertently kills innocent people. Lex, using his unmatched brilliance, finds a way to stop Superman. In the final scene, Superman sits, trapped in a Lex-designed kryptonite prison, watching Lex and Lois’s wedding on a small TV. Enraged, he punches the wall, only to break his wrist. He slumps to the floor, cradling his injured hand, shedding a tear for every time he avoided marrying Lois.

@@StudioGallup Holy hell. That's a Superman story I'd actually want to read. You should be a writer!
When you first introduced the impossible character, I didn't think I would like the comic. However, after I saw what they did with the character, I enjoyed it. I thought it was like a Where's Waldo puzzle. You had to figure out who the character was. That was fun. Good choice.
@@StudioGallup Do you do a lot of Where's Waldo puzzles? Because I guess in comparison to that, our show would be somewhat entertaining.
It's hard to find Where's Waldo puzzles. I pass the time between publications listening to Flea Market Fantasy😂
@@StudioGallup Would you buy a series of books based on the premise of finding Kevin Jank? But he probably wouldn't be wearing a red and white striped shirt...or pants, for that matter.
Now that you said, Silver Surfer is such an odd concept of anything, really A bald, naked, muscular silver-skinned man surfing through the stars... There's a reason why Kirby didn't like drugs back then, he didn't need them. Wild shit.
@@matheusalves5160 Yeah, completely ridiculous concept, but...I still love him like a brother.

Great episode. The part where Annhilius answers the phone is the best part of the story.
Thanks! Yeah, Annihilus playing secretary was certainly unexpected.
This was a fun episode. Y'all never disappoint. Great art and story. The only thing that could make it better would be if Mr. Fish was part of the team, but we have to give this Avengers team a chance to win.
Mr. Fish should be on every team.
@@FleaMarketFantasy I don't think the world is ready for that.
Welcome back, Pete. What a dramatic reading.😂

Strange Sports Stories is a series of anthology shorts and a brief series that this is an homage to.

Tim Tomerson had a movie series based on Doll Man... y'all better put some respect on his name
@@alancarnell2747 We will try to show more reverance toward Doll Man in the future. Would hate to have him angry at us. I mean, I don't even own a birdcage, so I'd be in trouble.
You cannot connect the dots on Freedom Fighters. Sometimes they're a part of Earth 1 History or they're on a completely different Earth (Earth X) where the Nazis won WWII. I never could make heads or tails about them. Also that was a horrible price for a Giant Size comic. 2 years before Giants were 100 pages for 60 cents. What's this one? 48-60 I bet. Always felt cheated once comics went above 25 cents. They came out with Dollar comics shortly after which cost a dollar and had 80 pages. Better but way expensive for a preteen nerd with limited funds in the late 70s.
