Via Ferrata Ostegghuette - challenging when it is wet
มุมมอง 199วันที่ผ่านมา
The climb was tough, as the rocks were very slippery. Even a B section became challenging. After a one hours climb I reached the lonesome hut. No food, no drinks, as it is not hosted. But the views and the alpine atmosphere are amazing. I hope you'll like it...
Via Ferrata Familienklettersteig Partnunblick - as the name says, made for families
มุมมอง 27414 วันที่ผ่านมา
An easy via ferrata, designed for families. It was the target to combine this via with the much more difficult route Partnunblick. Unfortunately my buddy Marco got sick and we had to break off our adventure. Nevertheless - a few days later - I managed climbing the fascinating Partnunblick: th-cam.com/video/UeJHJJBKlbc/w-d-xo.html
Via Ferrata Graustock - with a steep rock face
มุมมอง 16421 วันที่ผ่านมา
What a beautiful view climbing up to the Graustock. The first two climbs are easy, the challenge lies in the third rock face that is steep and strenuous. It's difficult to rate this via ferrata, as for the most part it is easy to medium difficult - with the exception of the third climb, which I judge as medium difficult to difficult. I hope you'll like it...
Via Ferrata Baltschieder - At the limit

As there was heavy rain in the morning of our two days tour, my son Marco and I decided to postpone our start to the afternoon and to hike up to the Swiss Alpine Club hut. This meant that we would climb the long and very strenuous via ferrata on the second day from top to down...
Via Ferrata Partnunblick - Helicopter rescue at the via ferrata
มุมมอง 2834 หลายเดือนก่อน
The difficulty of this via ferrata increases steadily, culminating in the final wall. Here a climbing colleague lost her strength in the overhanging section and fell. She had to be rescued by helicopter, but luckily she was only slightly injured. I hope to see her soon again on a via ferrata.

Via Ferrata Stäibber, Kröntenhütte - Crazy zipline above a waterfall
มุมมอง 5225 หลายเดือนก่อน
The waterfall at the via ferrata was immense, filled with water from the last storms and melting snow. I rate this via ferrata as medium difficult to difficult. It can be wet and slippery from the sprays of the waterfall. The zipline above the waterfall is the crazy highlight of this via. I hope you'll like it...
Via Ferrata Punteglias - in a wild mountain landscape

I hope you don't mind me asking , but how long dose it take to make your films. I assume you have to go up and down a few times when you are on your own, so perhaps a bit easier when with a partner. Another nice video 👍.
Thank you. You are right, it's surely easier with a partner. The bigger challenge lies in the self videos - which also makes this option more interesting🙂. To answer your question - a one hours via ferrata takes about 4 - 5 hours. It also depends on the amount of climbers I 'm letting pass, as I try to make the videos without other climbers in the frame...
@@carlseye Thank you for the reply. I thought it would take a while and I like that you let other people pass. Hope you have a good new year.
@@PeterBonsaiPete Thanks, I also hope that you'll have a great 2025!
Is the middle part overhanging or just straight up?
Mainly straight up, but I recall one or two short overhangs
@@carlseye Thanks!
@@tonyphotographyvideography thanks to you for watching 🙂
I enjoy your videos; thanks. Are there standards in your sport for installation, maintenance, and periodic safety inspections?
Thank you. I don't know of any official standards for maintenance or inspections. Mostly at the beginning of the season, the repair of the damage caused by winter snowfalls and frosts, lightning strikes and falling rocks are conducted. After that the via ferrata is opened for the public. As quite a few vias are owned privately or by the Swiss Alpine Club sections the procedure and standards can vary a lot. So there is always a personal risk. I read of standards being applied for building via ferratas (e.g. the distance between bolts) but also here I assume that these are no official standards...
@@carlseye Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my questions. I look forward to more safe climbs in the future.
I have had a fall or two in damp weather and the older you get the more it hurts .
I agree with you, it doesn't get better when you get older 🙂
Thank you for your replies to my messages. Enjoy your Christmas as I will enjoy mine. I look forward to more of your videos in 2025.
Once again an easily watched video. Just a question, do you know of a book or other reading that could tell me the history of the Via Ferrata, how they came about and who puts them in.
Hi PeterBonsaiPete, I'm sorry to say 'no'. I put my knowledge together from reading various articles about via ferratas. But I wouldn't know any that I could recommend...
I hope Marco is feeling better now.
Thanks for asking, two day later he was ok, but unfortunately he had to work, so no via ferrata for him 😏
Once again a good video, I like the mixture of mountains, clouds and sunshine. I think I would find the climb a little hard , but keep it up for us older people .
Thank you very much PeterBonsaiPete. This region is one of the highlights in Switzerland, I can recommend it.
Great, as usual. I hope to be there next summer, flying from Japan to Vancouver, and then on to Amsterdam, where I'll drive to Switzerland for a week.
Wow, what a trip. Engelberg with Titlis is surely a great place to visit. I'll hope you'll enjoy it !
Hallo ...schönes Video mir gefallen die anderen auch. Aber warum habt ihr diesen nach unten geklettert. Wir planen diesen für nächstes Jahr
From my point of view, the descent was more difficult and strenuous than if you had traveled the other way. Beautiful views, great video, thanks.
I fully agree with you. I surely prefer climbing up than down. My son took off from the office and we wanted to go. The weather in the morning was terrible, so I guess it was our best option to make the shorter hike on the afternoon of the first day.
The views from the high point where excellent but I think I am a bit old for that route .
Physically it is demanding, especially if you go from bottom to top. Going down is surely less physical, but technically more demanding. Overall it is one of the toughest in Switzerland
Another good video. I was driving in the lake district today with my wife & we had the same weather with the mountains showing through the low cloud. It makes for good views. I hope it's the same on Sunday when I will be out with a few friends walking.
Lake district - great, we have been there last summer. I loved it - enjoy 🙂
Painful to watch
Nice, I tried to get to this a few months ago but it was even wetter so I gave up. Hoping to go back this weekend. I liked your above & below PoV shots, very nice...
I understand you, when it's wet it is tough to get to the start. All the best for the weekend
@@carlseye Boy, you are not going to believe what it's like now, the forestry service cut down all the small trees and threw most of them down the VF gully, plus damaged some big rocks, a few of which are still loose, then didn't bother to put a warning sign at the start! It's now very dangerous and I only just managed to get up because the cable keeps to the right and you can just squeeze through but it's all loose and could come down at any time...
@@ViaFerrataCH This doesn't sound good. This also could be a bigger security issue. What a pity...
Thanks for the video, it's better than any description
Wow! Another absolutely stunning video. That view from the top is absolutely magnificent! Kudos, to you and your climbing partner for making another stellar video that truly shows how the hike would be.
What an absolutely magnificent video! I have no idea why this doesn’t have more views, as climbing videos typically draw many. All I can say is that people are missing out! THIS is how a hiking/climbing video should be made, in my opinion. I generally want to see what the climb is like and believe it or not it is difficult to judge many things when the POV is from a camera the hiker wears. Your video really illustrates what the climb is like. How lucky Europeans are to have via ferrata in so many places. This looks like an absolutely amazing climb. - what brand climbing harness are you using? Was there ever a time in your life that you had a fear of heights? This particular climb isn’t too bad as the focus goes to making sure no wrong steps are taken. But that bridge…oof…you’re right…not for the faint of heart. Thank you for posting such a wonderful video. Last questions…if you don’t mind: - what kind of shoes are you wearing for this? I would guess approach style shoes would be best so that they’re a little sticky, opposed to vibrum-soled hiking boots. - I’m in my 50’s…obviously one needs to be in proper athletic shape to climb rocks that are this steep but do you believe there is an age limit for this type of hike? Thanks!
BRAVISSIMI OTTIMA RIPRESA. CINEMATOGRAFICA !!!!!!
Thank you very much ☺
I think one of your better videos, apart from the fall of course, The panoramic views from the top are getting better. Thank you.
Thank you, I try to improve😉
Nice video, but be careful. Not everyone is experienced enough to see the risks in it; - Harness not high enough. - Carriing (almost) no equipment. - Climbing a via ferrata is not „rock climbing“! this is in my eyes irresponsible, especially for this length of tour and this altitude.
Oh yes, via ferratas have their risk. Not sure I understand you - you mean me?
oh please- when learning to drive do you learn from a you tube video- generally people with half a brain know that when there feet are 10 meters from the ground - if they fall they might hurt themselves- does he state this is an instuctional video- no. he shows us how the ferratas are and he does an excellent job.
your channel is by far the best Via Ferrata channel on you tube-
That's a big compliment - thanks a lot🙂
Just out of interest, who put's the Via Ferrata's in ?
I think there are different organizations - the Swiss Alp Club, tourist organizations or cable cars, sometimes private persons. Quite often they do it to attract more tourists...
A long day ,but well worth it. Excellent scenery as always.
Thank you very much, this one was a tough one - especially as we were under time pressure, we had to catch the last cable car
You both are so lucky to have a partner to share with such a challenging and fullfilling passion. Good for you!
I guess we are - sometimes I forget in good times
That looks as being a lovely path. Niiice
Yes, it is lovely, far away from civilization and I love glacier landscape...
Once again a good watch. Mind you I think you almost stood on one of the alpine flowers . I suppose you had other things to think about 😉😀
Thank you. Yes, I didn't notice standing on flowers, obviously I try to avoid this 😉
What a job ! How long did it take to install all the cameras ? Look like the montain is yours !
Yes, this is quite a job, as I have a larger camera (Nikon Z 2) with a travelling tripod. So really not ideal, but I love the quality of the camera. In the walls it can take me up to 10 minutes, until the equipment is fully installed... But I have fun 😀
Hi! Why you never bring anything with you when climbing ferata? No wather, no any liquids, no additional equipement..
I hide my rucksack😉. when I install my tripod, I leave my rucksack there. It normally contains camera, tripod, rain jacket, water and some food. So in the video I climb without the rucksack on...
Very good quality! Nice video
Thanks a lot. I really enjoyed this via ferrata 😀
beautiful! Would you know if it is possible to rent equipment anywhere close to starting point?
Thank you - yes, it is possible to rent the entire via ferrata equipment at the mountain station of the cable car. Have fun 😀
Uu, this is a really nice via ferrata. How long does it take to make the entire it and how it is rated? Good part with the 5 pull-ups. A big subscribe from my side. I hope I will inspire more from your adventures.
Oh, thanks a lot. The rating is E to E/F (very difficult/extreme difficult). I think it took me about 2 hours for all three sections...
0:46 they even have reverse waterfalls in Switzerland? Crazy! 😉
Uuups, I know what you mean 🤣
思ってたよりは安全やった。けど最初に階段つけた人が凄い
Great, you made it - congratulations
Great video guys x
Is it okay if I have a bit of vertigo? And No experience earlier? Or you suggest more better? I want to overcome height issues.
No experience I don't see as an issue. On the vertigo I would say this via is surely one of the less scary ones. If it's a bit I think you should be ok. But a bit can mean a lot??? All the best if you give it a try. You can descend if you are too afraid within the first ten minutes...
Tolles Video. Ich (62J) habe den Klettersteig heute gemacht. Ist ein absolutes Highlight. Grüsse aus Birr/AG
Ich gratuliere - ja der Klettersteig neben den Wasserfällen ist faszinierend...
Very good presentation, was just checking out to see if I'd be interested, and after seeing this video I will go tomorrow to check it out 🙏🙏
Amazing video!❤
It looks exiting , I have been on a few zip lines but not one over a waterfall and of course excellent views.
Thank you Peter, yes, it was exciting - first time for me over a waterfall
Switzerland would deserve a full summer of vacation just to visit all the places you show in this channel and try all this routes. Thank you for the touristic guide service you offer for free, it is much apreciated. Hope one day I will be able to take this one summer long journey......
Thanks a lot for the flowers. You make me proud. I'm climbing via ferratas since about 5 years and I saw a lot of Switzerland by doing so. The routes are mostly built at specially nice places, I really can recommend visiting a few of them.
I have created the playlists, I hope you'll like it 😉

Zipline looks amazing. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, this was a new experience for me and I enjoyed it 😀
Hello Carl, could you please consider to make some different playlists to divide your videos according to the level of difficulty of each via ferrata that you present?
I find it a good idea to make different playlists. I actually was thinking of 'Switzerland' and 'International', but level of difficulty is also a good aspect. Let me give some thoughts during vacation. Thanks for the idea
@@carlseye to divide considering the location is a right criterion for sure, then inside each playlist the videos could be put in order considering the level of difficulty of each route.

Brilliant views once again. A little bit of your good weather would be nice here at the moment. Keep up the good walks.
Thank you Peter. The weather here is also unusual bad. I use any good moments to go outside - but that's not very often 😉
Once again a good video, I like the waterfall. I used to climb up waterfalls when I was younger, 50 + years ago . thank you.
I hope good memories for you 🙂
Yes, I liked it. Keep up the good work!
I'm glad to read this, thanks a lot
The rope bridges look way fun.
Yes, I like them. My wife doesn't like them that much, as she is a bit afraid of them.
The views as always are very good and I think I prefer watching Uris doing the climbs , but perhaps that's a little one sided .🤔.
Thank you, it was an incredible day with great views. Making a video of someone else is surely more dynamic (and also much easier, as I only have to climb once instead of setting up the tripod...)
