I dedicate this song to my big brother Jose. It's weird to dedicate a love song to a sibling, I know. But whenever him and I were driving somewhere in the middle of the night, this song always made me realize how much he means to me. I'm so glad he's a part of my life. This is the song of my soul mate & I... It's been a recurrent theme since we were teenagers. We laugh about it so much, When we argued I would play this so she could hear it & she would come straight back. It always worked. It did help that we had rooms opposite each other where we lived at the time. 😉 Met when we were kids & were childhood sweethearts for two rounds, then teenage lovers who got engaged & drifted apart & just reconnecting for our 4th & latest start after 35 years apart. Life has thrown a few curve balls but we have always seemed to keep coming back to each other... Well, at least that's the story so far. I never in my wildest dreams thought we'd get back to it another time... But... "Here We Are Again" ! She is my first love, my childhood sweetheart my soul mate, & always will be... My husband and I were high school sweethearts in our sophmore year. We remained friends after high school, but went our seperate ways. I married someone else and he went into the Air Force. We stayed in contact off and on. Many years later In 1993 we were at his sister's wedding and decided that day to give it another shot, five years later we were married. This was our wedding song that we danced to. We are celebrating 26 years of marriage next month.

This song brings me back to 1967, when I met the first woman that made me feel what it was like to be in love. I never realized it then, I was 16 & not exactly a jet setter. We knew we were meant to have met when we did, and she made me feel like I was king of the mountain. Her father had other other ideas, though, and made her break up with me. We went our separate ways & life went on. Fast forward 44 years. We ran into each other at the airport & realized that the connection that we felt way back then was still very much alive. When I first saw her, after all those years, I found myself looking at her through 16 year old eyes again. We instantly knew we still loved each other. Unfortunately, cancer claimed her in November of 2023. She has always owned my heart, and, when I pass on & they do an autopsy, they will see her initials carved into my heart. A guy never forgets his first love, no matter the circumstances. RIP, my beautiful Carlene.
