      Thank you! So glad you liked the video, and thanks for watching and commenting!! I recommend Excel. Other spreadsheet software will work well and is still better and easier to read/manage than Illustrator, but IMHO Excel is the best and the most widely used. My template is in Excel, it likely opened in Pages for you as that must be your default software for opening spreadsheets 😅

    This was so fun and informative! I really feel for the entrepreneurs trying to get a good tech pack deal... they're going to go back and forth with their factory a million times due to lack of detail, or they may not be able to FIND a factory because of the lack of professional TP info.

    Hello Heidi, love your videos and advice. I have never provided as much information as you would deem essential for a super tech. pack. I guess it depends on if you are working with established brands or a start up. For me my clients want that I focus more on the design, sourcing, and development and less on the packaging and where the care lable goes. All of the brands that I have worked with have never asked or required me to add the lables or packaging to a technical packages as this is usually handled by their in-house production team. My clients have a standard that they and their supply chain follow. In addition regarding the measurment chart, I have only been asked to provide measurments for the 1st proto in their standard fit size (usually size S).

    • @SuccessfulFashionDesigner-sfd
      @SuccessfulFashionDesigner-sfd หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching, and glad you loved it! Having an in-house production team is a whole different ball game and means that roles are likely more segmented, which I imagine is why you are able to reduce the number of details in a TP. To me, bottom line is that a BOM is a BOM and there are set details that should be included (which is every physical component in the garment, including packaging and labels). If there were any question about that, I would hope the freelancer would at least ask about that rather than make assumptions and just not include it. That's where I got sideways with these results - don't tell me you're giving me a BOM and then not give me one (or at least not communicate why it's incomplete). Re: the measurement chart, the project brief asked for a size range of S,M,L, so that's what it should have included. If we only asked for a S, or a our standard fit size, then that would have been a different scenario. Overall, there was so much lack of attention to detail and lack of delivering what they promised!

    Thank you for this video, Heidi. I realized a lot of things especially on the pricing and how low ball my clients previously has paid me. I am not bragging but my tech pack is way better, detailed and complete with all the necessary information for a garment that a manufacturer will need to know. And I'm too shy to price it at $150 thinking it could be expensive for them. But seeing Tanner's price and output against mine, I became more confident in my tech pack.

    I don’t understand. Why is it a problem to ask for a size chart? I would have thought that each company would have their own unique sizing system for their customer demographic. 🤔

    • @SuccessfulFashionDesigner-sfd
      @SuccessfulFashionDesigner-sfd 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The problem wasn’t that they asked for a size chart. It was that the TP project we hired for (literally bought off the freelancers list of services) included a POM chart. That is very different than a size chart. He could have used our size chart to create the PoMs for this specific garment, but instead he just put our size chart in there. successfulfashiondesigner.com/how-to-create-graded-specs-in-a-garment-tech-pack/#Difference_between_a_graded_spec_and_a_size_chart_in_the_fashion_industry

    Interesting video! Completely shocked to hear of a $10 Tech Pack!! Just a comment - disagree with not grading a cuff, even in rib especially on an oversize garment. Even gloves grade at the wrist and bracelets have extenders to accommodate larger wrists. Not grading a cuff can make a garment look very different proportionally from smaller sizes.

    • @SuccessfulFashionDesigner-sfd
      @SuccessfulFashionDesigner-sfd 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, the $10 TP is shocking - but people are buying it. That freelancer had multiple positive reviews! Interesting to hear your take on the grading, and there are always different ways to approach it. The way I see it is that just because a body gets larger, doesn't mean a wrist gets larger. Across xxs to xxl I could see grading where xxs-s have one size, and m-xxl have another. Personally, I would not grade 1/2 inch across a 3 size range.

      They are wild! But yes, I do believe many are wanting to get away with this price. These freelancers all had many reviews. Positive ones, too. Which I believe means inexperience brands are using them, thinking the TPs are good quality because they don’t know any better. What they don’t know is that the sampling stage could go so much better. Also, yeah, don’t get me started on specs in Illustrator 🫠😭🥴
