VW Caddy starts instantly once turned off then back on again
Wed 7.8.19 previous video shows how VW Caddy engine first thing in the morning tries to start then konks out as if ran out if fuel. Then 2nd attempt kicks over and over for lengthy time before it starts. This video shows how once started, the Caddy is turned off then starts FIRST go with no issues. And goes all day with NO problems

Vw Caddy usually very hard to start starts first go. But have to accelerate to not konk out, even though it's injected diesel.

My car was booked in to have a problem of engine not starting first thing in the morning when "Cold". This is the next day after mechanics gave it the "once over" saying THEY couldn't find anything wrong with the car, and it starts first go with no problems for them.

    This exact thing was happening me. After removing the erg, remapping, non return valves and a new starter nothing was working. Eventually we changed three O-rings on the injectors. That solved the problem. A bad seal was causing poor compression once that van was left up over night

      Pokazalo bi grešku, kaže da nije bilo. Mozda ako je Pierburg tandem pumpa ode joj dodatni nepovratni u cijevi povrata, ili zrak ulazi gadno u gorivo pa se vrati u rezervoar. Ili najbanalnije ode kod citac kljuca pa cim upali odma ga gasi

    There is a software fault from the factory. As they get older they will not start on the amount of fuel they get to start! However, if you bump start it hot it’ll go straight away, because starter motor is not running?? Anyway it needs to be altered by VW…. I asked my VW garage and they would not do it! So remapped and it starts lively now!!!

      Your car comes with a factory map which hinders performance. You can get a remap done from a tuner and turn your caddy into a rocket. You can double the power or more if you have the money and you can turn off useless things like the EGR valve. The map is in your cars computer and tuners can make them better.

    Das Problem ist, der Diesel läuft zurück in richtung Tank, entweder lange Starten, oder mit Bremsenreiniger helfen zu Starten

      hello everyone, VW dealer could not fix it. everything was replaced, fuel filter endine side and tank. fuel pump engine side and tank, all fuel lines checked and blown out with air, fuel tank emtied fresh diesel replaced. still not fixed so i traded in for .......a wait for it......Hyundai

    Hey guys I read your comments and I was having the same problem with my VW Caddy SDI 2006. I understand your frustrations, all cars are a pain especially the older they get. There are a host of issues that I found on my van. I started having issues when my battery was completed dead after not driving the van for a while. I recharged the battery but then I noticed it was hard to start in the mornings. It will take about 7 to 10 attempts to start it and I’ll have to use a power pack as the battery was being drained. Eventually it will start then I get to work or even stop a couple of miles and switch it off back on again it will start first time. I will work for about 8 or 9 hours I get back to my van and it will start straightaway. I go to the shops after work and it will start. I also noticed when I parked the van facing down hill it will start straightaway in the mornings. But it will not start in the mornings when I’m ready to go to work if it was left on a flat driveway over night. So what did I do? I did a basic scan on the ecu with a code reader and noticed there was an issue or code with my ignition switch terminal s and low voltage exceeding the limit. Apparently it’s a common fault for VW’s to have issues with the electrical part of the ignition switch. Went on eBay bought one for about £8 and it was easy to change: have a look on TH-cam how to change ignition switch electrical part. It wasn’t that easy and I had to make my own tools to take it out. If you are not confident doing it ask a friend or take it to a garage. The interesting part was after changing the switch lots of things started working on the van. Like the radio turning off when I remove the key and the immobiliser light was flashing by the driver door. Which I didn’t think of in hindsight could have caused the battery to drain and also cause other electrical issues not even noticeable or visible. So I cleared the fault codes drove it for a day and scanned for fault codes again and there were no fault codes. I was also told by someone who had similar issues with their VW. He said if the battery is weak or the battery generator is not charging the battery very well. It will cause the fuel pump not to work properly. Which causes the issue with having difficulty to start it in the mornings. What he recommended is: If you have a weak battery change it for a new one. Also scan the ecu for fault codes and if there is an electrical fault, fix it. If it can’t be fixed or you can’t find it. As soon as you get home and not driving the car until the following day or for a while. Disconnect one terminal of the battery to stop the battery being drained or the ecu registering the fault. Reconnect the battery when you are ready to start it in the morning. I hope this helps and fixes the issue, it saves expensive cost of being told to change fuel pumps.

      No, got rid of it as, everyone I took it to wanted to experiment and I had to pay for their learning and misdiagnosis

      No sorry no one could fix it after replacing everything that can be replaced. not even VW factory could do it, so sold it as is.

    So far have replaced, high pressure pump & in fuel tank pump filter. It starts first go now every day. If left for a day it's much better than before. But when left 3 days or more, the problem is back, but does start quicker than before with old pump. So dropping pressure over 3 days. A friend thinks could be an injector seal, leaking fuel back into tank. I'll have to pick the brains of someone who might know a bit more about these injectors to see if that's true.

      Are you supposed to pump the accelerator for an injected car. I thought that was only with carburetors to engage the choke?
