I wish I found you years ago..I would have visited you at Belfair!
Love your book just starting to work on this system, having been golfing for 50 years ,hope this will stop me from hooking the golf ball.
2:30 The club head never got behind his hands. Helpful statement to me.
Thanks Carl. You're knowledge is incredible
Never heard this explanation before! Eager for the season to start so I can practice your advice….thx much.
Gold, thanks Carl.
The only thing missing is that the shoulder direction is downward and not horizontal. It's critical!
So are you saying the start of the left shoulder is a downward movement towards the ground?
@@pinseeker8503 The shoulder turn is perpendicular to the spine so the left shoulder movement will be down/forward. Watch slow motion video of Jack Nicklaus left shoulder on the takeaway and it will be clear. Everything Carl says is spot on but the direction has to be correct or you won't get the steady head, windup, and reflexive downswing.
Used this tip today and it was like the last piece of the jigsaw falling into place. Ball after ball going down the middle of the fairway and with distance. If only I'd come across this 9 years ago when it first came out.
This is a good one. Essentially, the big muscles move the club, not the hands.
Many Thanks!
Very clear and understandable. Thanks.
STELLAR! I play my best golf when I do this either by accident or instinctively. Thank you for clarifying the exact reason why; which will never leave me wondering again.
I'm now 80. I shot 71 yesterday
Hasn't a clue like most people
Fantastic golfer and a legend in the game.
very good. I have used a small wrist break for years.
What do the wrists do? Thanks
Carl what about release what does it look like?
I wish Carl would make story time videos like this EVERYDAY- I’d watch
When someone says “that’s worth the price of admission” with a mischievous smile, you know they know what they’re talking about… Moreover they know they’re one of the only few … who understand. 👏🏻👏🏻
You gotta love a man… who knows what the fuck he’s talking about.. in the zone… talking about it I follow 💯👏
Great advice Carl! Get your grip correct with the left hand as you explain in your other videos and it makes everything come together! Thank you for sharing this with us! I thought that you mentioned in one of your videos that the left shoulder starts the swing and the hands and arms help pull the shoulders around. Is this true? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
He's now 82 years old.
Oh Carl. I’m reminded of how good a guy you are. Watching you struggle to “hit it higher and straight” from a closed stance on the BI range makes sense in hindsight. I wish I’d known then what I know now. I would’ve said something. Best wishes. BTW everyone… Carl walked into the Ballen Isles golf shop in 2001, after a trip to Korea and said, “In 20 years, Koreans will dominate golf.” Pretty prescient.
You are a smart man, Carl
This looks a lot like the steps Count Yogi prescribed in setting up too ;-)
he's saving my golf game! So much BS out there, Carl is spot on!
Now that is a great explanation 👏
Holy Moly, I can't even remember what I had for breakfast
There is probably only one man in the history of golf that knew more about the golf swing than Lee Trevino. That was the fabulous Ben Hogan. Trevinos secret is his simple understanding and explanations. They are so easily grasped. This particular segment is his best ever. BAR NONE!!! If any golfer can master the left shoulder takeaway, their consistency will sky rocket. The swing will reach a huge sweeping arc every time and return to the same point. Not as well as the pros but better than anything they've seen before! If that sounds too simple take your normal stance then swing back with no other thought than your left shoulder going straight back. The feeling of extra coil and power is a complete 180 from before. Not only that, the muscles in the upper and lower body are triggered and there is a greater ground connection. TRY IT AND YOU WILL FEEL EXACTLY WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. His second best tip was in how to avoid fat shots. Ol Lee said to put extra pressure in the last three fingers of the left hand. That keeps the transition smooth and eliminates casting. There is an old saying that genius in reality is just simplicity. In that regard Lee Buck Trevino is the greatest fences of them all.
This could be the best instruction for playing under pressure.
I used to carry my 7 iron 155 yards. Now i carry it 185 yards. The power from the lats is phenomenal
Hell yah!
Just awesome advice!
I keep coming back to Lohren's videos because using the lead shoulder to drive the swing (or at least intending to do so) is the only way I've found to get my weight forward. I just have to find an instructor who is of like mind. :)
you already have one, yourself.
Carl Lohren: The gift that keeps on giving.
This ❤️
Imagine if Moe Norman and Lee combined together 😳❤️
its easy to be a picker....picking up the club with the arms and ever rotating....guilty!
I got out of the car to practice that and my buddy left me in Louisiana
That man is very smart on the golf swing an striker of the ball top 3 ball striker of not number 1
My all time favorite!!!!
Thanks Carl. Iv been practicing my posture for over 10 years now and I couldn't get a proper routine that would put me on the same spot with proper angles every time. Your routine is genius 👏 👌 🙌
I was at his brothers driving range in Orange Beach about twenty years ago hitting golf balls the day after Thanksgiving and Mr. Trevino walked out onto the range because he saw me doing something he wanted to correct. It was exactly what he told you in this video. I didn’t ask him. He saw me struggling and came and showed me how to fix it. I am eternally greatful. Like I stated, he’s a class act.
He only had sisters.
And many tend to bend the left arm too. On the backswing.
Trevino was the only male in the family, the rest were sisters. Funny story...
Mr. Trevino could sell ice cubes to eskimos. Class act. Not just a great golfer but a truly fine gentleman and a great storyteller. They broke the mold after he was born.
Would love to listen to tom watson and his wedge game
Encyclopedia of golf ! Awesum points !
Love thé vids, keep them comin'!
We’re missing Characters like Lee Trevino on the Tour. Golfs got too intense
By subjecting your right side to a dominant left side gives your upper left side (entire shoulder area) the proper start to a golf swing....that sets off the perfect sequence to your swing and delays the hit which is ideal. Another great advantage is that it clears the mind and with a flash thought of starting the left shoulder a whole bunch of good things happen. So, just walk in with the right foot, clap your hands to get the proper grip which lowers the right shoulder giving you the proper amount of tilt.....now your feet are basically square to the target line and your get about 15 degrees OPEN with the upper left side giving you and urge to start the swing with your left shoulder.......super sound instruction! Pure genius!
I don't know you lee but I love you man. Pure class
