I'm an artist and crafter, who has discovered, after a life changing injury, that broken can still shine. I live that lesson everyday, taking damaged and discarded items and giving them new life. This helps to fulfill my desire to reduce the amount of things we send to our landfills. I hope you will enjoy my shares and tutorials! There will be journals, journal embellishments, crafts and more. We can accomplish a lot together!♡

Under 30 Minute Teacup Pincushion Tutorial- Great for Craft Shows! Can Use Other Containers...
"I have anxieties, quite a few of them actually" lol you're funny ♡
Just wet your fonger a lot of times it will pull the first layer or use a couple pieces of tape
Love the use of panty hose for holding and shaping the stuffing! I knew I'd been saving those for something. Also appreciate the tips about making fancy/decorative pins. I might try using some beads and/or old earrings...
Brilliant...I love your easy way of describing things....hope the show went great x
STUNNING!
Try to use small piece of cellothape to remove layers of napkin, try to use white background under napkin to make picture more clear and colourful
Tooo cute Christmas presents here I come
A FUN idea, and useful too! With numb fingers, using a needle is hard for me, but I thought maybe using the super long twist ties I have might work also, and it will last for years without breaking. (Just a thought) :-) Thanks for sharing!
How did you make the flower pins?
I just used little paper flowers, straight pins with colored bead heads with a brush of fabric glue between them.
FYI, it’s not a flat brush! It’s called a fan brush!
Thank you! I went back and forth on that one. I appreciate the correction.
Beautiful project. Making one today to put on my tea tray on my breakfast table because I always find myself doing needlework while drinking tea and watching pots or baking. Thank you for a beautiful quick project we already have the ingredients to finish. And my dear, why on earth are you apologizing for a busy craft table....oh yeah all of us keep our craft table perfect all the time LOL
Thank you for watching and commenting! You’re right about the crafting spaces! Haha! It seems to be the consensus that we are all messy and cluttered. I guess we do better when we see everything spread out.. 😆 I love the idea of sewing while having a cup of tea and baking! That sounds so peaceful and soul nourishing. Enjoy your pincushion! I hope it makes your stitching even happier! ❤️
I can totally relate to the rubber band anxiety. For some reason I have the same anxiety when I open canned biscuits. Luckily we only use them about once a year. And I absolutely LOVE that lace you used. I'd have a hard time cutting it to fit it into the cup. That's one of my little quirks - hating to cut into a beautiful piece of lace or fabric.
Thanks so much for stopping by & commenting! I'm so with you on the biscuits. It's good to have a biscuit opening cooking companion nearby. 😄 Just to allay any concerns, I would never, ever, use a piece of lace like that if it weren't badly damaged. My goal is to find ways to salvage the damaged items so people can continue to enjoy them. Or like us - continue to revere the work of the artists and crafters of the past. ❤️
@@outtaredzhead4441 OH yeah!! I have salvaged beautiful pieces before that had some unfortunate damage, but was still usable. I love it when it can be salvaged in such a beautiful way as what you did here.
Sand them
These look so pretty and easy to do❤
I hope you enjoy making some! Thank you for commenting 🥰
Such a cute idea!! Thank you for sharing.
Aww! Thank you for stopping by and commenting!
I love this! I have just received an order of these from Amazon and I'm very glad for this little class in how to do them! I am glad I don't need to paint them white first!!! Thank you for sharing this!
Thanks so much for watching & commenting! I hope you have fun creating. I'm not sure if I mentioned it in the video, but I like napkins with a white background because some of the wood texture and/or rings show through. To me, it's nice to see the features of real wood.
If you apply paint first the images with be much more vibrant and the lines of the wood won’t show through the image. It’s just personal preference. You should try both as zoo really prefer painting the background whatever is then background of the napkin. It really makes a huge difference.
I’m in the UK is E600 glass glue?? Jo
I'm so sorry I didn't see your question before now! E6000 is a multipurpose, multi surface, flexible glue that dries clear. I looked up alternatives - can you get Gorilla glue? I read that Beacon 527 glue is also comparable.
So glad I came across your video today. It’s absolutely awesome. If you wanted to try using Modge Podging an old Christmas card in to the round, do you think that would work. Subscribed to your channel. Thank you in advance
Thank you so much!! I appreciate you being here 🥰 A card should work fine. I would cut it down to an approximate size so you can see that you're adhered everywhere, but it should be pretty much the same. Let me know how it goes!!
@@outtaredzhead4441 thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I guess I’ll have to learn the learning curve of modge podge, but super excited.
Love these! Just sucscribed!
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy making them 🥰
Thank you I subscribed and liked
Thank you very much! I hope you get a chance to make some ornaments!
@outtaredzhead4441 I will try making some Thanksgiving Ones 😋 🙂
@ritabrandow1318 that's a great idea!!
I made something like this years ago using wool. Love these 😍 so sweet!
I love wool for home decor items! Perfect for Christmas trees ❤️ Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting.
This is so cute 🥰 one could also use a hair elastic instead of rubber band to avoid the anxiety lol
Thank you! I love that suggestion! A hair elastic would be much less threatening for sure. 😄 Thanks so much for watching and commenting 🥰
A piece of painters tape on the corner or a tiny mod podge on your fingers separates the napkins easily. Love your ornaments.
Great tip - thank you!! I found some leopard napkins in a thrift shop and am getting ready to make a batch. I'll bet that speeds me up a bunch! Christmas is going to be *wild* this year. 🐆🌲😁 I appreciate you stopping by & commenting! 🤗
I noticed your comment. I hope you don't mind if I try it.
@ritabrandow1318 not at all! I hope you do try it! I like to separate a bunch of napkins and wipe the wood dust off of several wood slices, then make bunches at one time. You could give them as gifts to friends this year & have them finished before Halloween even arrives. ❤️
Just Beautiful I was looking for crafts and this is just beautiful ❤
I'm so glad you like it! Thank you for stopping by & commenting! Happy Crafting ❤️
Tea cups are cute and easy . Will make some for gifts.
I'm so glad you like them! Sorry to be slow responding - just had surgery. I hope you have fun creating your own! ❤️
You could also use knee highs instead of pantyhose.
Good point! Thank you for stopping by & commenting! 🤗
I have a purple glue gun like yours; it’s the best don’t fall for more expensive ones, had those too and they both broke
Thank you for that! I do get seduced by the newer, shinier tools. ❤️ 💔 😃😁 it's true though, the new things just don't last like the old ones.
essa posição da sua câmera é muito ruim pra mim ver fica tdo alcontrario
I'm so sorry it is difficult for you to see. It is an older video and I was doing the best I could with what I have. Is there a particular question I may be able to answer?
I’ve never related to someone so much in my life! The anxiety, the perfectionism… I think we just have big hearts and care a lot. That’s what I’m rolling with, anyway lol! These pincushions are so stinking cute! I won’t have a designated sewing space until i move, so I’m thinking of doing the same thing sans cup and making an octopus! You know, using the corners of the fabric as the legs? But you better believe I’m making the teacup one later! Instant sub! 💖🙏🕊
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I like your take on things - we care a lot ❤️ I'm so excited for you! Your move is going to give you your own amazing creative space & you can plan it all out in the meantime! You're going to have so much fun letting your creativity go wild - and maybe even develop some collecting tendencies... 😜 The best thing about a room is that you can fill it up. Haha. I absolutely loooove your octopus idea ❤️ Please post a link if you make & can share it!!!!!
Do not apologize for your glue gun. I am new at making these, thank you for the instruction.
Aww. Thanks! I bought a new glue gun to replace old faithful.. it is grimey and covered and bits of stuff now too. 😂 I guess I'll just be grateful it works when I need it. Thank you so much for stopping by & commenting ❤ Happy Creating!
Love your tutorial! Can I ask what you use to adhere the saucer to the teacup? Is it the E6000?
Thank you so much! I appreciate you stopping by & commenting 🤗 I did use E6000 with a little hot glue to hold it still while the e6000 cured. Recently, I have been experimenting with JB Weld. I'm beginning to think it's more reliable, but I've only used it a few times now. Let me know your thoughts if you try it!
So cute.
Thank you!! ❤️
Have old cups and saucers from a dear friend that just passed away at 90yrs old. I'm going to use crushed walnut shells . Thanks for sharing this great idea. God bless
I'm so sorry for your loss! I hope having a visual reminder of your precious friendship will bring your heart peace. ❤️ The crushed walnut shells are a fantastic idea! I remember Grandma saying the crushed shells keep pins and needles sharp while detering rust. I wish I had a record of all of her sensible tips. Thank you for reminding me of that one! 🩷 I appreciate you stopping by & commenting 🤗
Hello. If you want easy remove the napkin from the border try it with a small file. Have fun on your chanel.
Hi there! Thank you! I appreciate you stopping by & sharing that tip 🤗
Thank you so much for sharing this sweet diy!😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you for stopping by!! 🤗🥰❤
Hi I have sewed for many many many years were you hot glued it now if you're going to use that on the top it's going to interfere with you sticking your pins in
Oh yes. You're right. Hot glue will definitely cause a problem for the pins. I only used the hot glue around the edges where it would attach to the container. Thank you so much for pointing that out! 🤗
Love, love your pincushion. My craft/ sewing room was a mess, and my girlfriend said it looks like an artist at work. I never worried about the mess I created while working again. How do you stick the cup and saucer together.
Thank you!! I hope you try the pincushion project!! I go through stages with my studio disasters. It's hard not to have a mess when you're working - and I'm usually working. So I let things pile up until there's nowhere left to work, then stuff goes into bins & the bins go into the attic. Eventually, they come back down, and I repeat the process. 😄 The problem is that I take over other rooms too. I will be getting a she shed soon, so hopefully, that will help. As far as gluing the cup and saucer, I used E6000 with a dab of hot glue to hold it in place as the glue dries. I've recently discovered JB Weld. I really like it for glass, etc. I haven't tried it with teacups but it has been great with other projects. If you have Instagram- tag me when you make your pincushion! I'd love to see it! Thanks for stopping by & commenting 🙂
A shop near me sells little heart shaped or classic wooden casket... I can't wait to try this! I have a really good friend to gift one of those to 💕 the hard part Is going to be finding some good napkins
Your friend will love that you created a gift, especially for them & that it is personalizes to their taste! Check etsy for individual napkins. Also, Amazon and Ebay have a bunch of options. Good luck! If you post on Instagram, add a link in the comments so I can see your masterpiece! Thank you for watching & commenting ❤️
Great idea!
Thank you so much!!
Very cute 💡
Thank you!
Can you be more specific as to what Ebay seller you purchased hedgehog napkins from? We would like to create what your tutorial shows.
Hi! I do not have a specific seller. I like to use napkins that have a special memory attached - maybe one from a birthday party, or tea with someone special. If I am making stock for my shop I search for a specific theme on Etsy, Ebay, Amazon, Google, or even in person, in stores like Marshall's, Tuesday Morning, and Home Goods. I like to find vintage napkins when possible. The hedgehog napkins were purchased year or two ago. I wish I had a record of their manufacturer but I don't. This year I've been keeping a list so I'll have a reference going forward.
Since your tutorial shows these specific mushrooms...and you replied to someone that you " think" they are discontinued. Can you share the Supplier regardless? Thanks
Thank you for your question about the origin of the mushroom napkins in my video. My intention when answering the original question wasn't to be vague, but to give an honest answer. I said I "think" they were discontinued because I have been searching the web for more and have been unable to find them. I'm not able to say with 100% certainty that the company no longer makes them, (especially since I don't have the packaging to know who to contact directly,) but I can say with certainty that I can no longer find them. I am using the search terms "mushroom paper napkins" and "fungi paper napkins". Last year those ornaments reached best seller status on Etsy. They were popular this year too but I have limited stock. I would love to be able to replenish my own supply. In my searches I also combed through my purchase histories on Etsy, Ebay and Amazon. I can't find the purchase. I believe that can happen when a supplier goes out of business, or replaces the item in their listing with a different product. Unfortunately I don't have an idea who that might be. I wish I could be more helpful.
Bello proyecto, para despegar las partes blancas las servilletas, pon un poquito te goma en tus dedos
Thank you! That's a great idea!
Could you use ordinary PVA glue I wonder
Yes! An equivalent to Mod Podge is to mix about 2 parts pva to 1 part water (I go slightly heavier on the pva.) 😀 Thanks so much for stopping by & commenting!
I’m curious how you would do this on the wood using photos?? That would be awesome but obviously photo paper is a lot thicker than a napkin paper. Please let me know thank you.
Hi there! I had a customer ask me to make a photo ornament for them recently. I tried a photo transfer - but I have an ink jet printer and I couldn't get a good transfer. This is when you print your image in reverse and decoupage it with the image face first on the ornament, then rub off the backing with a wet finger or damp cloth - leaving the image behind. It works best with a laser jet printer. Water slide transfer method might work, if you sand really well first. The sheets are available on Amazon and usually have the instructions. You could print your image on to paper and cut or punch the image out then decoupage. I have gotten pretty good results with that - except that you have a rim around the image where it doesn't meet the edges of the wood. My final thought would be to print on onion skin paper - which is much thinner and more pliable than standard paper. Then decoupage. Hope that helps! 😀
I love those mushrooms. I haven't been able to find them 😕
Thank you! Yes. I think the napkins have been discontinued. I'm sorry!
I don't know anything about this shop - no affiliation - but I just love this listing. I did some mega thrifting the other day.. As a result this listing is not in my budget right now. You might like it though, since you appreciate mushrooms ❤️ www.ebay.com/itm/325343325737?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=FabFudLSTri&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=rZX6aRrVQ4q&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
This was a fantastic video on making the fabric Christmas trees. GREAT JOB very informative😀
Thank you so much! I appreciate your visit and support! 🤗
Where do you get your lovely napkins?😊
I watch for them everywhere. Ebay has a wide variety available. Often you can find vintage patterns too. There is a seller on Ebay. I'm not sure the name but they sell napkins in small groups, (between 2 to 4.) That would be a nice way to create a small collection of different ornaments!
Rubber bands dry out and break eventually. So best to do a back up stitch.
Thank you for stopping by and commenting! The rubber bands surely will not last forever. I wonder if the glues might not make them even more brittle. Generally I use a needle and thread and go back and forth a bunch.
The rubber band breaking is same as the Grands Biscuit container busting. The adult Jack in the Box. Haba
Hahaha!!! You are so right 😄 🤣 😂 and why do we give those Jack in the Box toys to kids? It's kind of mean when you think about it. 😄
@@outtaredzhead4441 I don't, cause I hate that jolt to my heart too.
