In Gowan Ring
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 17 ม.ค. 2014
The Symbolist Folk Music of In Gowan Ring channels stories of stones and angels through homemade instruments and human voice. Uncanny harmonies unearth a visionary sonic tapestry, engaging in mythic landscapes to weave the transcendental and the mundane.
Fifteen Men on the Dead Man's Chest (In Gowan Ring w/Lyrics)
A rogue wave from the past! 'Fifteen Men on the Deadman's Chest' was a live staple circa end of 1990's during our, uh Pirate Phase... There was for sure an album's worth of songs left scattered in the flotsam & jetsam, but evidently the parrot ran off with the booty... ...anyway, hope you enjoy our live recording at Mizpah Chapel from 1999.
{-------}
Fifteen men on the Dead Man's Chest-
Drink and the devil had done for the rest-
The mate was fixed by the bos'n's pike,
The bos'n brained with a marlin spike,
And Cookey's throat was marked belike
It had been gripped
By fingers ten;
And there they lay,
All good dead men
Like break-o'-day in a boozing-ken-
Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!
Fifteen men of the whole ship's list-
Dead and be damned and the rest gone whist!-
The skipper lay with his nob in gore
Where the scullion's axe his cheek had shore-
And the scullion he was stabbed times four.
And there they lay,
And the soggy skies
Dripped all day long
In upstaring eyes-
In murk sunset and at foul sunrise-
Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!
Fifteen men of 'em stiff and stark-
Ten of the crew had the Murder mark-
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead,
Or a yawing hole in a battered head-
And the scuppers glut with a rotting red
And there they lay-
Aye, damn my eyes-
All lookouts clapped
On paradise-
All souls bound just contrariwise-
Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum.
Fifteen men of 'em good and true-
Every man jack could ha' sailed with Old Pew-
There was chest on chest full of Spanish gold,
With a ton of plate in the middle hold,
And the cabins riot of stuff untold,
And they lay there,
That had took the plum,
With sightless glare
And their lips struck dumb,
While we shared all by the rule of thumb-
Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!
More was seen through the stern light screen-
Chartings no doubt where a woman had been!-
A flimsy shift on a bunker cot,
With a thin dirk slot through the bosom spot
And the lace stiff dry in a purplish blot.
Oh was she wench…
Or some shuddering maid…?
That dared the knife-
And took the blade!
By God! she was stuff for a plucky jade-
Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!
Fifteen men on the Dead Man's Chest-
Drink and the devil had done for the rest-
We wrapped 'em all in a mains'l tight
With twice ten turns of a hawser's bight
And we heaved 'em over and out of sight-
With a Yo-Heave-Ho!
And a fare-you-well!
And a sullen plunge
In the sullen swell,
Ten fathoms deep on the road to hell!
Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!

J `avais quatorze ans et je me battais pour mon avenir academic et les filles , elles étaient là ,attirantes mais inaccesible . Aujourd`hui à 67 , elles signifient rien du tout : J`ai perdu trop temps .
I didn't know there was a Providence RI /In Gowan Ring connection... pleased to discover. Love learning the deep lore. Salutations from the Ocean State.
wONDERFUL 💚🌞
EXCELLENT ! thank you !
Listening to this album of covers made me realise why i could never get into In Gowan Ring, everything just sounds the same!
splendorous, what a cover
The perfect tribute 🌻
Can you tell me the opening song during the countdown? I really enjoy it.
It's called "Four in the Morning" by Georges Remaily--- but there's two different songs around with this name, so look for the one recorded by Jesse Colin Young or try the Ant Trip Ceremony version.. cheers -B'ee
Oh! This is absolutely beautiful 🌻
One of my favorite In Gowan Ring songs. Utterly gorgeous.
Just beautiful 🌸
Any update on when this be released?
Thanks for enquiry Jazmin, it’s getting closer! I’m planning to make public announcement in April.
👍👻
Long afloat on shipless oceans I did all my best to smile 'Til your singing eyes and fingers Drew me loving to your isle And you sang Sail to me, sail to me Let me enfold you Here I am, here I am Waiting to hold you Did I dream, you dreamed about me? Were you here when I was full sail? Now my foolish boat is leaning Broken lovelorn on your rocks For you sing Touch me not, touch me not Come back tomorrow Oh, my heart Oh, my heart shies from the sorrow Well I'm as puzzled as the newborn child I'm as riddled as the tide Should I stand amid the breakers? Or should I lie with death my bride? Hear me sing Swim to me, swim to me Let me enfold you Here I am, here I am Waiting to hold you
Beautiful!!!! thank you)
I really like your home. (And its the definite proof we have more than enough room at our place for a little recording studio.)
Very nice version of the Jefferson airplane song!
Hey folks, this was a test to see if I can stream concurrently here and FB for the 23minutes. We'll try to keep this going Wednesdays 12:23pm PST.

Great! Well done the chick vocals with what I am sure is quite hard
Merveilleuse
Better late than never. Watched it a week after the live broadcast, my bad. Anyway, absolutely loved it. Especially enjoyed that you brought in the 2 Tabernacle folks. I didn't realize that I was already following that band on Bandcamp until I clicked the link for the band. Will check out the solo pages. B'ee, it's time to make a DVD or Blu-Ray. Crowdfund it, and see where it goes. Absolutely enjoyable performance, although it could have used a bit more symbolism. ;-) Love you, man.
The live stream was lovely, especially Bubbles On The Water 🕯
One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard 🌻
