The T1 ore extractor can only mine base minerals, iridium, aluminum, and sulfur. To mine the more advanced ores you need the T2 ore extractor. All the ice dose despawn from the surface when a certian tempature is reached, however some will remain in caverns. Your terriforming process will slow down to a crawl until you use the lanuch platform, something to keep in mind.

Answering your question about people, it's because you assign families to tasks, not individuals. So even if you have 15 people, you only have 5 families to assign.

Berries are a godsent. I really would recommend starting with a gatherers hut to get them before winter because they really help out, you could have maybe put the houses and the village in the middle of both the animals and the berries (it would have taken a bit tof time and logistics for building and roads but would have really helped out in the long run), still it's pretty good that you did the farmhouse early because most people leave thay for last! Overall, you did very well for someone who hasn't watched any gameplays and had to figure everything out on the fly.

The recycling machine is used to break down advanced items to its base components. So for example you can break down an iridium rod back down into 9 iridium ores. While this may seem useless to you now it can become far more useful in later game when you have more advanced items and would prefer one of the subcomponents of the item. The shredding machine comes in handy when you have a large number of ore extractors filling up your inventory with junk ores when what you really want is rarer ores. Keeping a shredding machine near to the extractor lets you get rid of the junk ores without it filling up your inventory so that you can fill your inventory with rare ores. The launch platform is a vital part of the game and not only accelerates terraforming greatly but also can help you get certain rare ores. The downside is it dose eat up a lot of power when you are still stuck with solar panels. There is a lot of automation available in the late game but you are still a long way from that. So you will have to wait quite a while for your water bottles to be automatically collected and get used to doing it by hand. You won't get flooded in your new base. The old base you had however.....

The jetpack can climb some by looking up / down when you move but has limits. You could not have gotten into the ship tower when you tried before but now that you have the jetpack you can. The fusion reactors you find in many of the wrecks are usable once you are about 80% of the way to end game, so you can ignore them for now.

As a general rule you never want to lose power. I stops your terraforming process, food production, water production (later), etc. So most veteran players will deconstruct what they just built to get the power back and then make more power first. It's just way less risky that way. Build the jet pack as soon as possible, it will substantially improve your horizontal travelling speed and radically improve your climbing speed.

It works fine either way for me, but sometimes you stumble upon something neat while out gathering and if you are not recording during that time then you would lose that moment of excitement. The ladder glitch is something I have never seen before. Maybe it is some sort of setting on your controller that automatically double clicks or rapid clicks or something like that? Do not overbuild your base. Only build as much as you need for the terraforming process, as you will not be staying there. I will not tell you why as it is part of the noob experience to well experience it. But you will be moving in the future. Most of the regions of the map carry the same basic resources. There are special areas and caves that will carry more rare resources so exploring is also an important part of building as you need the rare resources you find out there. Of course chests can also contain rare resources but are not as concentrated as a rare resource area. The storage lockers are not decorative, they are the upgrade to your chests and will help greatly with storage and inventory management. Once the food in the food grower is fully grown at 100% you will be able to pick it out the grower. The seed will remain and will grow again. Different plant types have different food values, however all food types will be useful in advanced recipes later on so don't throw away any seeds as you may find you need a lot of something in the future. As a general rule you do not want to throw away anything you can't easy get again. If you find yourself overflowing with seeds or plants then if nothing else build a separate storage area and squirrel them away for the day they might be important again.

Every time it adds a letter, its a multiple of 1000, so 1000 ti is 1 kti and 1000 kti is 1 tti etc. I Love watching someone start from fresh in this game, its such a great game visually. As you progress you see your efforts reflected in the planet. The building is weird, some times you just have to go with the flow.
