Why is the title of this video a complete lie? I had no idea they remade the original movie with Sally Field. It must have been sometime after 1998. Hmmmm. Not as good as the Sally Field version, but I liked it.

This is not the Sybil from 1976 starring Joanne Woodward and Sally Field. This one is from 2007 starring Jessica Lange and Tammy Blanchard. There were two Sybil movies made.

I live with a dissociative memory/personality disorder. I do not know who my "alt" is and have no wish to do so. The only thing that is a discernible difference appears to be my handwriting. I get into arguments with people who claim to have this disorder and "know" who their alts are.... If you know who your alts are, then you obviously do not need them. When my "alt" takes over, I have no memory of any events when they are present. It has made my life extremely chaotic and I have had it since the age of 7. I have had episodes that have lasted for years and some only a few hours. I have purchased motor vehicles, been married, had children and held down full time jobs as my Alt. Do you have any idea how distressing it is to "come around" and all these things have happened while you have been "sleeping"?. I was only diagnosed in 2016 by which time I was well into my late 40's. My latest episode was driving my car (with purpose) at 8.30pm and I had driven hundreds of miles. I had no idea where I was going and why I was going there, my only choice was to stop the car, turn around and go home. The disorder is internalised, you don't go around committing crimes or hurting others, which is WHY this is not a legal defence in Court (You can not claim the devil made me do it).

This story is not true. It was made up by Sybil’s psychiatrist.

Wow I have seen the original with Sally Field and now I'm in the middle of this one, I really like this young actress she is awesome, she portrays the personalities very well the visual is superb on the switching up , I like the way they remade this movie. I like em both !

This is weird....I'm in the middle of reading "Krakatoa" , by Simon Winchester, and this just popped up on my feed.

This is horrifying what she put her thru. And her father usually abusive parents do it under a religious reasons. Today it still goes on. These cults today are far more abusive hiding families under guise of institutions. I dont have to name them.

As a young girl, I used to have epilepsy and many times I will blackout then I will lose control of time of my Memory 😢😅 It was a very bad time in my life 😂 by the grace of God I prayed for him to heal me and Never again Suffered this episode ❤❤❤

Again the ever present statement of why watch it and then tell everybody that it sux, or the title is wrong or whingie whiney blah, blah, blah. Just insignificant, lonely people with no clue, sad. While "True" is hardly accurate, it would be closer than any Universal movie version to that date. But the Hallmark version that would follow years later comes much closer to "true."

The integration of the multiple personalities into one is very expensive & long term. Most can’t afford this process as it takes a psychiatrist. This is now called Associative Identity Disorder rather than Multiple Personality Disorder. Many feel this is not a mental illness but rather a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It is due to severe abuse of a variety of types as a child.

Sally Field and Joanne Woodward actually talked to the real Dr. Wilbur and the woman known as Sybil before and during the making of the first Sybil movie, it was NOT kept locked away as a secret like they are saying here in this remake.

I am glad that nowadays they don't always force integration. It has to be the system's choice.
