Ultra Lite or Ultra Ready? The two backpacks I considered for my Appalachian Trail Adventure
Great review, you’re the only one that has talked about the ventilation on the back, and I appreciate that because that was a concern of mine. Have you ever carried this bag as a carry-on on an airplane?
Thanks for your review.
A year out, how do you like the bag?
I just received well a couple months picked up the circuit ultra pack definitely seems like nice packs. Unfortunately haven’t gotten to put it to use yet. Took me the longest to figure out which Pack I actually wanted. I like some things about the OHM and some things about the catalyst. So stuck to the middle ground and went with the circuit
I have the Lanshan 2 as well, and at the time didn’t know it was from China.🙄but recently bought an XMid 1 person and it is also an excellent tent! Great video!
I have the same exact bag. I Love it! New subscriber here. Great video
did you customize this bag? I went to buy it but saw the regular version doesn't have the extra front zip pocket :( edit: nvm, just got to the part where you said you bought it like that, I guess from a reseller?
Do the Camino and the Catalyst carry exactly the same? How is the breathability and support?
Injuries and situation like these can happen and we have to listen to our body. We aren't 20 anymore. You'll be back on trail when you can... The mountains will still be there ;)
Great tent and gear. Good luck on the trail. (new friend and subscriber)
That's for sure my next pack... I've been saving for it.
Hiking has turned so douchey
Awesome man! Just be you dude; people love real people!
"Real people" don't buy packs that cost 100s of dollars
Jeffery1330 yes they do. When you begin hiking you probably wouldn’t want to spend hundreds on your first pack. But as you dial your equipment in, and find the gear that works best for you, you upgrade to better gear.
Hey man, great review. I appreciate you doing it. Also don’t think you’re bad on camera at all, it’s all in your head dude! Keep at it!
Great review. Same mindset re Vibram. IMO you cannot go wrong if it has a Vibram sole.
thank you for reviewing the Camino. I am trying to decide between it and the Circuit.
Idk your uses but I own the Camino and I do love having the zipper on the front. If you have any questions about it feel free to ask!
@@discoversunshine How is the suspension system? Is it comfortable to carry about 10kg? I would use it for travel and hiking.
@@willl5524 That's probably the average weight of mine for a day trip and it handles it just fine. Very comfortable. I'm by means not an "Ultra light" packer. I got this bag mainly for it being made in the USA and the support they seem to have. I have flown with it before and had no problem with it fitting as a carry on. I have taken many day trips with it and it is surprisingly comfortable. Not sure if this applies to you but was a concern of mine but I appendix carry and I have no problem with the hipbelt while carrying a full size firearm.
Can you do a review comparing the camino and the circuit?
.The Hierros are redesigned for the Version 7 and yes they are narrower than the Version 6 . I guess some people complained that their toes were too loose in version 5/6 ,so NB redesigned them. Thats a shame. Glad you like the 880's. I have many pairs of them and they are a great road shoe and work well on light trails as well.
interesting tent. What are your thoughts about the wind resistance of the riser rods compared to the guyline you have at the lanshan? Which color is that by the way- burned orange or dirt? happy trails
The color is Burnt Orange. I’m not sure about the wind resistance yet. I will probably post a video about that while on trail if I get a real time experience with high winds.
Great tent, the Z packs. Funny how every tent has both pros and cons. I wont be surprised within the next year or so that Zpacks switches to zippers instead of that darn hook system
Adding a zipper or 2 would improve the tent for sure. It may go up a few ounces but worth the weight!
Sweet tent!
Thx! I love it and can’t wait to get back on trail!
Good luck! I’ll follow you all the way.
Thanks
Best wishes for your successful hike of the AT. The trail you have covered to date is one of the hardest you will encounter for while. (After you reach Damascus, that is.) Btw way, if you can afford it, you should try to get your base weight below 20 pounds. Keep food to four days, which should be around 8 pounds. That way you're total weight will be below 30 pounds. Only carry essentials!!! Your plan of a flip sounds perfect. BTW...I hiked the trail in 1966 so I know how easily you can get hurt and how your mind will betray you. Again, best wishes on your hike.
Thank you so much for your advice! That is completely amazing that you completed the trail in 1966. I am positive you did not have today’s resources that must’ve been one heck of a challenge.
@@Snowbeardhiker It was just a little different than today. Packs over 50 pounds and a JC Penny two person tent. No hostels and we had to carry seven days of food. Our zeros were in the tent and we took very few of them. No filtered water, iodine pills for water in NH and Maine. Saw very few other hikers the whole 123 days on trail and never saw a ranger anywhere on the trail, including Baxter State park. looking forward to following you as you complete your journey.
I have the ohm, and think it is a great pack. I keep looking at the circuit as a possible "upgrade". Hope to see your channel grow!
I think all this technology on the trail and the time you devote to is Tooo much of the world in the woods! and you guys who do it are missing the point too. Ga2Me 86!
Who else will you have to criticize if we don’t give you this gift of tech in the woods? Feel free to hike your own hike and ignore my posts if you don’t like them. I do this for my family and those who enjoy it. 👍
That is a very nice town
Looking good
Town is pretty devoid of life, but it is weekend evening, and everyone is getting ready for Monday, evidently. Pizza & Calzones look taste though!
It was 6 am in the morning at the time. I don’t sleep well unfortunately.
@@Snowbeardhiker My apologises. I too have sleep challenges, and I'm indoors and in a bed! I can only imagine what it is like trying to sleep outdoors.
Nice video, with some good views, bad rainy days, so let's keep on hiking..
This is awesome. Kingsley I’m sure you can still hump like you used to back in swc.
Enjoyed your video. For me the music is a distraction, I would rather hear the sounds of nature, including the quiet, because hearing what you’re hearing allows us to experience the ATC through you, since most of us don’t have the courage to attempt what your doing.
I will try to include more sections without music. To be honest I have the sections in there because I’m not very good at speaking and sometimes I feel like I sound dumb, lol
happy trails, u got this!
Thank you! So far so good.
Was good to meet you man. Happy hiking 🥾
Ditto and thank you for following.
Love the updates! Best of luck :)
Hey! You're on the trail now! Have a great hike! I'm curious: how much does your gear weigh?
Just a little over 33 lbs. with food & water
I HAVE NO IDEA WHATS GOING ON BUT I FEEL COMPELLED TO WISH YOU GOODLUCK
Awesome video!!! Thanks for sharing!🥾🥾❤️
Be safe!!! I’m not a hiker but excited to follow along
Thx Brother! I know your background. You do plenty of Hiking 😉
Bye
I am following your journey. I wish you the best!
Thanks for the shoutout and kind words. I definitely appreciate your help and good ideas as well. It’s awesome that your family is going to be a part of your experience and you get to start your hike with them. I didn’t see that sheet before, very interesting. Looks like a good overall setup.
My favorite memory of you is when I first met you at Rhinos. I was having back pain and you introduced me the ex wife (big steal pipe) and bam back pain gone!
Yup and now Rogue sells 3 different size body tempers. Donnie Thompson is a genius!
Awesome video!!! Great introduction! I love to know a little about the hikers I follow. You got this!!🥾🥾❤️
Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you would be someone I'd enjoy setting around a fire on the trail and getting to know. Hope to maybe meet you on the trail. I fool around with Ham radio POTA and setup on the Blueridge parkway where the trail cuts through the Montvale overlook. If you come through that way and see some dude with an antenna talking on a radio with water bottles and snacks setting by that car, good chance its me.
Great video letting people know who you are. Most people subscribe and watch TH-camrs for what they're doing and they don't ever really get a background on them so it's good to see that side. Thanks for sharing and I'll see you out on the trail.
Thx! See you on the trail!
Good luck, I’ll be following….my trek is scheduled for 2024
Awesome, I look forward to following you when you go on your journey. Originally I wasn’t going to post much. Now I’m fairly certain I will post daily or every other day. It fun getting all the feedback.
beauties!
Thank you!
