I've worked as an in-house Designer for near a decade working at companies like LinkedIn, Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes and Salesforce. Before design, I worked across industries exploring my passions in sales, education and marketing before making a full career transition into design.

Just leaving a comment I hope you can look back back and see the growth I send light and love
God thank you for bringing me to this
I appreciate anyone who sat through this video. We're living in interesting times. And it often feels like the peak and pathway to something new or unknown. Just like always, we'll adapt, but there is definitely a lot of uncertainty. One strategy I learned a couple years back, is that when life gets demanding, its important to make space to FEEL. It could be for 10-15 minutes at a time. Its still a challenge for me to make that time, but being out in the ocean made it easy. You are stronger than you think. Your circumstance is carving you out like a diamond, preparing you to be the person you're meant to become. Much love!
Hey man , right here with the whole way Im now seeing society n it's down fall , but one thing I'ma start bringing life thru the little things foreal thanks for the advice , 💯
The little things matter most. Love yours.
I like to use meditation. It stops thoughts and allows you to just be in the moment. So when things happen, I can meditate right there - nobody even knows I have suspended reality but the answer appears when I pause and suspend thought.
Big time. I definitely need to prioritise that in my routine more frequently. Creative expression has been my jam lately to help me zone in and gain clarity. Blessings!
been feeling the same lately, I've learned to just let go of all and focus on myself.
Been hearing that a lot. Letting go can bring forward things in life we didn't even think about. Usually for the better. Keep at it brother.
That's right, appreciate what's in front of you. Life is beautiful, you are doing the right thing bro. Keep that positive mindset.
#BIGLOVEALL2024
I needed to hear this, you explained my situation perfectly too. Thank you, man.
I really liked listening to you! Definitely what I needed to hear while I find myself in my job-search. I have been struggling a lot with impostor syndrome and it is quite empowering to hear different opinions. Quite like the artist example. I've danced all my life (even professionally at some point) and even though I don't do it as a profession anymore, I am not ashamed to call myself a dancer. But when it comes to new skills I feel like I need years of experience before giving myself permission to call myself something. Thanks bro!
It can be a challenge to have grace for ourselves. But I've realized that the goal is to pursue self actualization. In the short time that we have, a career spanning 25 to 30 years along with all that life brings, exploration is inevitable. Well wishes on the search. Its tough right now but stay true to your self, have faith and find light in the tough moments ✨ 🙏
Thank you for being so open and honest your story is very touching. I think there’s a lot of people that need to hear this honestly
Thank you for the words! I'm surprised the words resonate as this was a time capsule for my self to a moment in time. But its a blessing that many more people are finding ways to heal themselves
I love your story! May I just say I’m proud of you. Love from Poland!❤
All the way from Poland. Wow! Thank you for listening. Blessings! ❤
I’m currently studying UX design with a focus on UI. I’m coming from a teaching background, (art teacher) so the transition into the tech space is really hard. I guess I was naive. Lol! I thought UX would be mainly design based but, it appears to be mainly research and collaboration. I thought UI was just interface design. I’m currently taking the Google Coursera UX course and it’s taking a long time for me to complete. Then, I heard that a Google cert is not credible enough to get hired but I would have to do additional work to build up a stronger portfolio. News like this can be discouraging. But still, I’m gonna do my best! This video has been helpful. If you have any additional advice to share for beginner UX students, I’d ready appreciate it.
Its very easy to be disillusioned when many of the boot camps and institutions have not changed their marketing to tell the realities. If you're willing to persevere, prepare for the road ahead. You can look through many of the videos I posted up on here. But let me know if there are specific questions and I'll consider speaking on it. Good luck in the new year with everything.
Your portfolio looks great! As a Nigerian (Igbo) myself. I appreciate the traditional African characteristics you’ve included in your portfolio!
Thanks so much! Much appreciated. Blessings in the new year
Same to you!
Really helpful man! Thanks so much
Appreciate the feedback. I'm glad 🙏
okay so first of all, thanks for these truly remarkable wisdom bits. I'm a 20 yo guy who just quit my job as a young talented chef. I know i could've gone far as my mentor told me very often, but other factors occurred and I don't want to do this job anymore. The thing I liked about that job was creating those meals and having that one feeling of not knowing if the client would like the dish or not. It's stressful and thrilling and most of the time they actually loved it. I'm actually pretty lost in life, I've spent almost 3 months doing NOTHING in my basement and i hate it (pretty lost yeah). I don't know a frigging thing about ux designers but your speech has hit me right in the spot. I guess I need to find my purpose because I'm constantly looking at jobs, salaries, hours, tasks, scolarship to even get there, I discourage myself so quickly it's unbearable. I'm gonna take a pen, write down my weakness, passions, gifts and my goal destination as you said hoping this makes a difference.
I've been there. Those times where you think nothing is happening, is where our biggest breakthroughs actually happen. They're uncomfortable times, because they allow us to dig deeper than we would in times of comfort. The fact that you kept it real with your self and quit cooking, is a huge step! It took a lot of courage - acknowledge that! At 20 years old, you've got a ton of life ahead. Time is on your side. Which means you can experiment more than lots of other people on the planet, at a time where the world is going through a ton of change. Shift your perspective to looking at the now as an opportunity. If something doesn't work out, that's one step toward gaining clarity. Try things out, don't commit. Look at the relationships you have, reach out to people you admire and want to be more like. Placing ourselves in environments, can sometimes create the mind shifts needed for fertile grounds internally so we embrace the changes in times where we want to resist. I'm continually going through that process my self - which shows me I'm never alone. Everyone I've been mentored by, has been where you are. Sometimes we go through that multiple times. If this is your first bout, just know you are where you need to be. Mistakes will happen, but as long as we have the right intentions, while seeking what we are looking for, each step, each misdirection, is a path forward. Blessings, the year will start over. You'll be fine!
@@comodesignstudio_la thanks man, i don't know why you are doing this but it helps a lot, the best thing for me right know as you said is to get out there and figure things out without overcommitting. I'll start with that and i'll see. Thank you again
@@etiennenoel6093 my reason is because we're all figuring it out as we go. No one has mastered life. And I wish more folks were transparent about the shortcomings. What gets showed on social is an aspect but its never the full picture. Keep going. Sending you good vibes.
I am grateful for having found this and YOU here today. I have struggled through similar sentiments. Namely, after losing my mom and most recently, my father and again when my littles arrived. My dream has been to join the tech design world and enjoy the bi-coastal life - from NYC to Southern California while rearing my littles. Thank you for this reminder as I have been working to get myself back on track for realizing my dreams. Many blessings!
Our loved ones watch over us. We gotta reach for our dreams to make em all proud. Everyday is a challenge, but I remind my self that its another opportunity to get right. Some days are harder than others, but im seeing that its all possible as long as we keep our head in the game when no one is cheering or it feels like no one is by our side. Make it happen and with faith you can move mountains. No matter how hard the journey will be, your tribe will thank you for taking a chance. Blessings in the new year 🙏

Congrats on living true to you, Jeremi! It takes courage to step away from a comfortable paycheck. Now, sending you lots of strength so that you can work your butt off and succeed in this new chapter👊🏼
Definitely takes a lot of courage Gabe. Glad I'm finally giving space for it to happen - life is short. Risk is necessary. Good hearing from you and thanks for sending good vibes!
Very true; look forward to seeing where you take your gifts!
Excited for you!

you helped me, thank you ❣
Appreciate the words 🙏
I think this is a very good, forward looking, perspective but i think its a bit early. What about in 3 or 4 or 5 years? Thats a completely different convo
You're right. I'm not sure how it will play out over the course of the next few years. My hope is that its an evolutionary process to bring design to the forefront. In which case it can allow us to think bigger to deliver solutions to big problems like housing. We'll see.
Your a Legend Bro. An inspiration. I'm trying to be more happy despite cirumstances and with faith Its Happened!!!
Thanks for the words 🙏. Sometimes I make time to appreciate the simple things like the ability to breathe and walk. Some day in life that will stop. Until then, we gon try to cease the opportunities and abundance of each day with those we love. Blessings
Great wisdom. I am an illustrator, and you really make me think about what my philosophy is with this video. It's very clear that I just want to draw and create pictures and I wanted other people to do the same about what they are passionate about. So I think in the future of my illustration creation I wanna impart this philosophy into my works and really inspired people to pursue what they really want in their life and I thank you for making this video it really clear up a lot of things for me thank you thank you!!❤
Thank you for sharing. Allowing our gifts to be in communion with the rest of the world is definitely the way to inspire others. This is how the domino effect begins. Blessings
Fantastic advice. I’m working on designing a hotel and hotel brand. I am going to apply this to my business. Saving this video and will continually rewatch. Good job.
Thats right. Do it big! And when it comes to life, let me know. Might plan a vacation. Make it happen!
I'll go first. I believe that design can be used as a tool to understand the vision you want to create for your life. And I believe that partnership with the greatest architect of our time, The Creator, can make that vision so clear, you may be crazy enough to think its attainable. Defining the path is difficult, the pain necessary, the gifts, fruitful. Know that your struggles, are the external chisel to forming the soul you are meant to become.
I'm learning graphic design in an apprenticeship. Do you think that would help me in this market?
That depends. Since you're in an apprenticeship already, you could leverage the resources you already have. If the team you're on needs UX or web design work, ask if they're open to you helping out as a resource - this is how many people get a start. If you were to go the route of applying to external companies, that can be a challenge like I mentioned.
To anyone that sees this who is feeling a sense of existential crisis, know that you are where you should be. Your current circumstance is preparing you for the next chapter. The warfares of life equip us to be curious, move forward and forge a path toward our destiny. Being stuck is only a perception. You are being prepped.
I truly needed to hear this!! Ty!!
@@alexandria3177 blessings. Whatever you're going through, understand that the experience builds resilience.

Appreciate the perspective, insight, and authenticity! Can you make more comments on your learnings from your executive coach? Does he/she have any book recommendations for understanding social currencies, political motivations, or concrete methods (psychology?) in navigating these situations. Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss was a helpful starting point for me.
Power by Jeffrey Pfeffer and Influence without Authority are gold. Quiet by Susan Cain is also solid. Taught me to see how introverts can still own a lane.
@@comodesignstudio_la Thank for sharing these goldmines, Jeremi. I'll check them out. Keep up the good work on your video blog!

So crazy that I find this video the on the same day I experience being within a corporate space for the time as a Black person. Maybe I just have a lot of growing to do as a 23 year old, but how do I navigate the discomfort of working in spaces that are only white? How did you go about it?
I had to learn to accept who I am and respect my self first. I learned that its easy to lose sight of your own talent and light when it may never be enough for some. It has always been twice as hard, but I accept the challenge that I've been given because I've grown into becoming who I'm meant to become. My tips are at the end of the video. But overall learning to love my self and not looking at my differences as a hindrance, helped me to see that my perspective and point of view is my strength. We all learn in our own ways. You'll be ok.
As a black man + 2d experiential/environmental designer myself, I really appreciate this video. For the past 9 years, I've noticed that I'm always the lone wolf and the only black person on my team. I haven't figured out how to build my support system in the design community yet, since this is something that has recently become an issue for me but it's definitely something that I want to work on moving forward. I appreciate your wisdom and vulnerability in this video!
Thanks for sharing. This is a problem I actually want to try to tackle. Reach out to my email in the about me section if you're interested and I'll keep you looped in.
This story and your back story 👏🏾👏🏾❤ I feel like I've had this problem with so many things going on and wanting to do so many things and achieve so many goals and it becomes so overwhelming that you lowkey start giving half of your attention to everything than your full attention bc you're always thinking about the next thing you have to do. It's crazy. Thank you for sharing this experience ❤❤ Just listening and being there. Love that 👏🏾👏🏾❤
I've struggled with that for a long time. Still go through it, but learning to focus and put my effort on a few things. Family first. Me time because that is what helps to sustain everyone else. Business third. And applying habits to the one or two things I learn daily. Maxing out on a few things is helping so I don't stretch and burn my self out. Each of us have our own rhythm we need to find. Always wish I could do more, but practicing patience with self is key. You'll be ok. Trust
I just want to thank God for showing me this video. I have my Reiki healing tomorrow. I wanted to do some research first. Came across your video but what’s crazy is as we speak I am struggling with this exact situation to a “T”. For me , “people pleasing “ .Growth is a tough battle . Life path 3? 🤔
Hope it went well and the session helped in some way. Growth is definitely tough. But worth it for ourselves and those around us. If I reflect over the past year since I made this video, I'd say that those challenges were prepping me for now. It all makes sense. Whatever you're dealing with is happening for you to give you what you need for the future. Blessings! You got this
