Bear in mind your style is much easier to cut. 😂 And the set of hair clippers (even decent unit) pays for itself after a few trims! This is an intersting topic and true about getting out when your health is good. I retired in 2019 at 53 from my last IT support job of over 20 years at a large Illinois hospital. I did the daily workstation hardware, softare install, upgrades and repairs for the nurses, managers and Doctors. I had been plannig an early retirement honestly since the late 80's in my 20's but since I did my job for so long, it became easy work for a decent paycheck and great insurance and 403B. After hours on-call was a nuisance which was abused but we all rotated which helped. In between the daily support calls I'd surf the internet and do other jerk off things to fill the day so I knew something had to give for me to walk away even though in my last four year I already hit my target goal amount to early retire. Thankfully the hospital was sold for the third time and the new owners contracted all IT out so it was either apply with the contractor for and take a 30% pay cut with weird afternoon and evening hours or find another job. No complaints from me because they even gave everyone a nine month notice and those not rehired with enough years received a six month severance. Now bofore all this happened, when rumors were flying about the restructuring, I'll never the day we were all called in for a state wide IT conference call meeting to be given official notice. We had eleven people in our particular office and on that day I'll never forget the sheer look of terror on everyone's faces. They were the ones that lived in the biggest houses, bought brand new cars every 4 -5 years and had kids pretty much living pay check to pay check. This is why I say, even if you love your job, and have no plans on early retirement, still plan as such becuase you'll never know when that day comes when you are on the list of lay offs or being restructured.
