Modders Ported Doom Eternal into Quake!?! (Slayer's Testaments Quake Mod)
Quake Mod Port of Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal features and gameplay within the original Quake engine (id Tech 1). This is a highly regarded Quake mod that features the meathook, flamebelch, dash, double jump, all the weapons and so much more! The graphics are really impressive for Quake as it features dynamic lights and shadows! It is very easy to run on most computers, even potatoes. I am limiting the game to 60fps vsync for video quality purposes. Testing it out on my GTX 1080 Ti. #doom #doometernal #quake #mods #pcgaming #doom2016
This mod uses planar reflections for the reflections which is really cool to see all the objects in a scene (including dynamic objects like the player) reflected on the reflective floor it's so cool. The fact that this mod runs on the original quake engine from 1996 and that it has dynamic lights and shadow casting lights is so cool. It plays very similarly to Doom Eternal, a lot of the gameplay feel carries over.

I cut this video really short because it was taking too long, but if anyone is interested I'll make a Digital Foundry style comparison of every major in game up scaling solution I can test like FSR 3 vs XeSS, TAAU, TSR, LS1, integer scaling, and others with voice over comparisons of stills and motion with zooms (similar to the beginning of this video but with commentary and much longer.)

In the installer for DLSS Enabler, there's a screen that says "Select Components" and instead of using the default option ("Install as a version.dll file"), select "install as a dxgi.dll file". I think it might also work with "install as a winmm.dll file" too but I'm not sure... If you're using an AMD or Intel GPU/iGPU, then you also need to select "Enable support for AMD and Intel GPUs" I believe. Another thing to try is selecting "Install .reg files enabling/disabling driver signature checks" and double clicking the .reg file created in the games directory, which I did, but I'm not sure if that's important or not. I'm using an Nvidia 10 series GPU so I haven't tested AMD or Intel cards, but it says it should work.

Yes very good point! I did mention this briefly in the video, but that I kept it set to "vsync" to make sure there weren't also frame tearing artifacts in the video. If I'm playing an FPS game with frame gen I definitely turn it off because the tearing doesn't bother me if it happens at all and their is a slight improvement to latency. Definitely helps get it closer to native it's definitely better.

For those who dont know, the resolution scale option doesn't scale the image. What it does is use fewer pixels of those frames to predict motion for example. If you play on Native 1440p while using lossless scaling, thats 2560x1440p= 3,686,400 pixels it uses to predict motion. Meanwhile if u have scale set to 50 percent. It uses half of each axis meaning it uses 1280x720= 921600. Which is also a quarter of those pixels . So out of all pixels, only a quarter is used for motion interpolation

I have used it in many multiplayer games with anticheat (CS2, Halo Infinite, War Thunder) for a few hours and I haven't had any problems. From my understanding, lossless scaling might appear similar to OBS or some other recording software to a game given it works in a similar way for capturing frames. So yes I think it is safe to use although I can't say with 100% confidence, but as the other commenter said, if anything it puts you at a disadvantage, whether you care about that or not. I will say it would be very difficult to "accidentally" leave it applied because you need to open the app and click the "start" button every time you want to use LSFG, it does not have any kind of auto run or installer for any games.

that's an interesting question. I'm not sure if LSFG is a machine learning based approach like DLSS is or if it's more like FSR 3 in that way so it may not need specialized SIMD instructions. If they did utilize those instructions, my fear would be that it would prevent older GPUs from using this software as DP4a is not present on GPUs prior to the GTX 10 series I believe. I'm not sure when for AMD. Performance with the latest update and especially with the LSFG motion resolution scale turned down, the impact to performance is finally surprisingly minimal!

Currently it's running on GPU shaders, which results in a pretty steep (albeit better than previous versions) performance cost. You can turn down the motion interpolation quality down as you say, but I was wondering.. or should I say hoping we could find a way to lower the GPU cost via utilizing other aspects if possible. This shouldn't replace other versions of LS of course, but maybe a model specifically using more than shaders.
