Good question because I'm arguably worse at Safi than these two combined, but I think there are a couple reasons though. I can condense them into 3 specifically, 1) Not really necessary 2) Skill Issue and 3) 2 week rotation. 1) I wanted to get better at Alatreon and Fatalis because I was tired of relying on others (and potentially SOS) for a chance at beating them. With Safi, there's no real need because even if you're not good at the fight, you'll eventually win becaus of siege mechanics. 2) I'm not confident enough in my abilities to solo a siege 3) The fact that Safi is on a 2 week rotation with Kulve just means I won't be able to fight it for half a month at a time.

For both Alatreon and Fatalis, their moves are much more lenient than some moves from like Safi'jiiva for instance, at least in terms of dodge timings and safe distances. I'm shocked with what the game let's me get away with too sometimes.

I’ve done these fights a few times. By my experience, the game doesn’t let you get away with much. At 9:56, in particular, Alatreon appears to hit you flush

I can't say it'll be within the next few days, but I'll look into making some sets to add CB to my rotation! It was one of my mains through most of IB after all.

Yes it does, and it also boosts the elemental/status multiplier even more on top of that! It uses the level of your charge before you cancel into a shoulder charge.

I appreciate the concern, and I've definitely taken that into account. On most days the only things I do in-game is hunt a Teostra to spend my ticket, and then I go straight into Alatreon. I then close the game basically immediately after Fatalis. I'm keeping my playtime pretty low, partially because there's many other games I'm playing at the moment, but also because if I spend the next few months playing for 4+ hours a day, then Wilds will end up like World was for me. I played it, but I wasn't able to appreciate its strong points until years after Rise. Thanks for the support!

Lol, you just sit at camp and yell insults at Fatalis. Funny story, my friend actually did that for Alatreon one time. I also kinda wanted to see if I could beat it at 2p health. Unfortunately his connection dropped when Alatreon was at like 5% HP. I still beat it, but it technically wasn't the "full" fight at 2p HP.

The Jumping Wide Slash, which is specifically the sweep after a shoulder charge, has the highest elemental modifier for any attack on Great Sword! A fully charged True Charge Slash will multiply your element by 1.7, but if you shoulder charge it into a Jumping Wide Slash, it will multiply it by 3.5 instead. So it makes it much easier to get the elemental topple. There's a tooltip in the game that says that attack is good for applying element, but I believe that's the only place in-game that mentions it. I definitely didn't know about it until like a month ago.

I play CB as well, but I don't have any builds for it that work for either of these monsters. I'm probably gonna be using Swaxe in Wilds, so once I get a bit more consistent at these hunts with GS, I'll probably start doing runs with Swaxe. If that goes well, then I might experiment with more weapons.

I mean it's just a game . Fatalis is hard like , it'll either 1shot you or take out 70% of your health per hit . Really need to get familiar with openings where you can punish like baiting cone attack . If you can't get good at the fight move on

For Alatreon? I don't always go for the head because the forelegs have a higher elemental modifier, making it easier to get the elemental topple. Speedruners, and others who are more solid in these fights, just go for the head the whole time because it's more damage overall. Basically, I'm definitely not doing it the fastest way, but the way that feels most comfortable to me.

I mean the slinger skip is more of a situational tech, useful if you wanna do a lv3 tcs during a small window of attack or a long one with enough time to complete 2 of them. If he chose to do the slinger skip and only had time to do one tcs combo he would’ve missed on 600+ damage from the lv2 tcs by doing the full combo

From my experience, if you fully charge both with the slinger skip, then the damage is roughly similar to Lv1-Lv1-Lv2 without the slinger, so it's mostly preference as far as I see it. Of course more hits = more hit stun, and more hit stun = more dopamine 🤯

​@@Tomservo520 Well you are dealing 1030 damage + 1960 with the true charge slash. By using slinger it seems to me you can do 2 times 1960 damage. But you know what, i didn't want to play gs anymore but in two days i am going to take on alatreon with gs and record so you can see what i am talking about. It is going to be fun.

@@xReactiionzZ The aim is to use the slinger shortcut to do a level3 true charge slash 2 times. It seems alatreon is on the ground enough time but i will actualy test this.

@@maxxxou_9906 I understand pretty well all the math and numbers regarding gs combos and tech. The slinger skip tech is a pretty useful one but again comes down to preference and if the hunter is confident with the monster, is not a must to have a good run. Talking a few years ago among some speedrunner friends (which I see op is not trying to be a speedrunner) got mixed opinions when it comes to alatreon knockdown tcs. Some prefer to do full tcs with no skip and others only felt comfortable performing 1 tcs with slinger skip since alatreon wakes up pretty quick and can insta punish, and no matter the choice run times were pretty even, only noticeable difference in run times came down to builds like heroics

I'm actually not sure which one's better. A lot of sources online just go for Kjarr, but you make a good point, the skills don't stack like that so it just doesn't make sense. I may do some testing with that once Safi comes back around.

I believe it gets to that damage from various skills all enabling at the same time, Agitator, Coalescence, Peak Performance, Evasion Mantle, etc. They're all so conditional that I almost never worry about setting them up, but when they combine, it's a beautiful sight. As for the armor, it's 4-piece AT Velk and I believe Fatalis waist with a Challenger Charm. I've been trying to go for the Kjarr ice sword, but it may not be better because 2-piece Velk already has Crit Element.

@@Tomservo520 an easier way I didn’t mention cause I thought you were familiar with cone baiting is to stand at a distance where his head would be if fatty was laying in all 4 and that cone baiting only works when he’s standing upright

I'd say I'm still learning the ropes to Fatalis, but I can definitely offer my two cents. First of all, I'm actually using the Black Fatalis Blade, it's just layered weapon to look like Guild Palace. That being said, I think Glacial Demon should be a better choice than Guild Palace because the higher raw and affinity will keep it ahead of Guild Palace. As for the build, I basically copied it entirely from a video called: "Great Sword vs. Fatalis | 7'36'25 | Freestyle | No Heroics/Palico" (I know YT doesn't really like links in comments, but if you search that you should find it.) It does use Fatalis parts, so if you're still before clearing Fatalis, then you'll need to Plunderblade some parts.

What I've noticed is that when you ghillie while already in the arena, he can occasionally still attack the Palico a couple times.

That is the Frostctaft meter, it comes from the Velkhana set bonus for 4-pieces of armor. The further the bar is filled up, the more damage the next attack does. I believe it fills up over time while sheathed.

Yeah, Frostctaft is a great skill to have for Great Sword because it really plays into the Crit Draw play style. As you get used to his moveset, you'll notice that most of his moves have time for even a small attack in between, and then it turns into a game of waiting for him to attack, then getting a quick hit in. And for the elemental topple, some tips that really helped me (That are barely mentioned if mentioned at all within the game): His front legs have the biggest elemental modifier on his body, so aim there to get the most of your elemental damage If you're using Great Sword, the jumping wide slash (B/Circle* after a shoulder charge) has the highest elemental damage modifier on Great Sword by a lot.

That's some good advice! I really should be baiting cones so that I'm not aimlessly wandering around until I feel I get a good chance, and more head hits is never a bad thing. And I used to have a set where I would farcaster to change mantles, but I didn't really know if it was worth it just for that. I could probably do it and go for Evasion, Temporal, or even Fireproof honestly.

@@Tomservo520 personally I like to run evasion a lot with GS since I’m already actively rolling away from attacks might as well get the small attack buff out of it plus the extra I-frames are nice to have
