How I *ACTUALLY* feel after moving to NYC | an open + honest coversation/rant
Hey everyone!
I am finally back with another video. This is a chatty open and honest conversation about how I have actually been doing since I moved to NYC. I have faced a few struggles that I didn't expect. But I have also had some amazing times and experiences since moving here 3 months ago. This is pretty much a journal type rant about stress, sickness, long distance relationships, dreams, traveling, and all things in my life since moving to NYC. Many many pros and cons to New York haha. I hope you enjoy :) Thank you for watching!

Wow... Felt the same way... Ended up choosing BME as well
Pls don't pursue Biomedical Engineer degree in INDIA... Its not recommended because i am done BME in india and working as hospital Biomedical engineer we have to do the service the medical equipment even RO plant and mri chiller and stuffs... But very low level salary....
We have the same mind
do you have a take on cheme vs bme in terms of job prospects, difficulty, classes, etc?
I'm about to finish my last pack on three days from now. I've been experiencing so much anxiety and even panick attacks, I didn't even notice the pill was causing it! I thought I was just growing up (started taking it at age 18) and having that much anxiety was normal. Turns out it's not. I've always been a stoic-type of person, never really cared about anything and used to have such a good response to stress, but the pill changed me so much. I'm so excited to feel like myself again.
Here from Malawi. Am already taking biomedical engineering. Though our career options aren't many as yours, but I love what am Doing. Am in second year now thank you for the motivation.
Do biomedical engineers work in vaccine research?
What are the key subjects to take BME? When you say Science does it mean all sciences or is there a specific science?
So what is the difference between BE and BME?
I am from Papua New Guinea and we don't have biomedical engineering in the country. I have the passion to this course but because we don't have materials and resources to provide ourselves with biomedical knowledge. We really appreciate you for your presentation.
Physics really sucks
That was my exact reaction to lo loestrin. Anxiety attacks at night, extreme crying episodes, and depression. Felt like i was going INSANE. Worst experience of my life. I completely stopped taking anything and still trying to recover from it.
Hh
This video is exactly what I was looking for. I started in august of 2022 when I was 19, it’s been about 6 months now. I started it because of really bad cramps that would make me sick and heavy periods. I feel like I haven’t noticed any weird side affects for the first few months like 3-4 and my periods were lighter and fewer cramps although they are still there. but the last three months have been hard. I’ve been bloating really bad, I’ve gained about 7 pounds, Ive been irritable and depressed feeling for no reason, the slightest inconvenience makes me super anxious and I keep crying sometimes not knowing why. I’m actually at work now and I’ve felt for the past two days like someone is sitting on my chest and I’m so anxious, I haven’t slept well the past two nights. I feel so not myself and I’m wondering if it’s my bc. Idk what to do. I’ve been taking Hailey 1.5-30 I think which seemed fine at first but now I’m just super stressed out 😰
And I also don’t want an iud for personal beliefs and reasons
I am glad you found my video then!! I took a different type, but I would definitely dive into the possibility of it being that. You can always go off and see how it makes you feel! It’s always there if you want to try again
I'm in early college right now. I want to be a biomedical engineer. Since I'm still in high school, I'm forced to get an an associate of arts so, so far, my math classes are college algebra and general biology. Do you have any recommendations for math classes I should take now?
Do you feel like you were irrationally irritable as well ? I’m really struggling with my emotions and I have been thinking about it being my birth control. I am constantly at a snapping point anymore and it is effecting the people I love
Yes!! The smallest things would set me off back then. I have felt so much better since I stopped, in that regard!
There are studies showing that birth control affects the hypothalamus (shrinks it I believe) and that affects anger response. I noticed my anger management and other emotions were so unregulated.
Drop an engineering video🤌😩
This video made me a little emotional because I’m at that turning point in my life. I’m 21 and it’s like if I don’t do it around this time, I’m not sure If I’ll do it. I understand you and I can’t wait to embark on this journey.
Graduated Biomedical engineer with a job in industry!
Please answer my question.. compare between bachelor biomedical equipment technology $ biomedical engineering
Am thinking the same question in my mind.
Compare between bachelor biomedical equipment technology & bachelor biomedical engineering?
Good Information Thank you
So I'm trying to do a master's in BME. What math courses did you take? I took calc 1 and statistics. I tried calc 2 but it was too difficult even though I love math. So I'm a little worried I'm going to have to deal with calc 2 and above.
Masters in Biomedical Engineearing🤞
What job position do you have? I’m interested in working in hospitals and operating rooms also as a Biomedical Engineer, so i’d like to know what positions to look out for and/or companies!!
What’s the name of your school
Huge question maybe you already answered this already! Why not go Mechanical Engineer since they are supposedly more versatile, and then specialize in biotechnology?
I started watching your videos and am sorry that you are no longer posing I hope that you are well. Please give us an update
How nice is it to have mind full of memories and being a polymath an realizing how easy it would be to cure parkinson's disease
I am going to study bio medical engineering. How's the scope and the future of it? And the course and the salaries?
Yesss pls talk more about BME ,, it rlly helps me a lot ! Pls talk on how to land a good job right after college and How was the learning process during college. Loved this vid <33
Hii. Love from India 💕💚
Oh my gosh, thank you!! So cool to connect across the world
Eyy Raya am about to start my Alevels I want to do biomedical engineering but am not quite sure which subjects to do i know maths and chemistry is important but do i need physics or biology for me to qualify
Biology and physics were a part of my curriculum for sure!! Any math and science classes will generally help you. Also anything involving coding or troubleshooting is a good experience
Ok so for alevel subjects i need to have physics maths computer science and chemistry is that ok or the chemistry can be replaced with biology is there much chemistry in biomedical engineering and thank you for the reply 🤗🥰🥰
What school did you take biomedical engineering in? Do we start as a mechanical engineering program major?
I went to Syracuse University and I didn’t have to start as a mechanical!!
@@RayaSunshine how do we pay for living? I currently work as a nurse and rent. If i go back to school could i still work? I need to pay my bills.
@@rae7269 maybe you could try to get a nursing job at a hospital that is affiliated with a university. Sometimes they will waive tuition for continuing education.
I'm late but I would def love to see more❤!!
Awe, thank you!!
Why is this degree destroying my mental health
I’m so sorry to hear that it is! It’s definitely a stressful major at times. I hope it gets better for you
Hi, thanks so much for this video! This video reminded me of why I initially decided to transfer to BME., but I've been concerned with Job prospects since most of the internet says companies would rather hire ME, or EE. But after getting accepted into a few colleges I now have to decide between BME or ChemEng(which is more broad), or BioEng with a concentration in Bioinformatics which I fear I'd have to get a master's or PhD to qualify for most of the jobs out there. Do you know stories of anyone in bioinformatics? Also, do you see the potential for you to be promoted at your current job, or do you see yourself staying at the same position for years to come? Thanks Raya!
I do not know anyone personally in bioinformatics, but I think it does require at least a master’s to get in! But you can always look at job postings and see what requirements they are looking for. And I’ve been at the same position for going on 2 years, but I’ve transferred to a site that requires a lot more responsibility. And definitely able to see a promotion availability opening up. I haven’t had experience of people wanting a MechE or EE. It’s truly all in your skill set and how you sell yourself. My sister is actually a chemical engineer, so I don’t think you could choose wrong either way!
honestly, the job prospects of bs bme even with a specialisation scares me. I do love the field, bio and math, but I'm hesitant lol.
Depending on the area you’re in, I think there is opportunities! I’m in NYC and there’s plenty of jobs here. And engineers are lucky to qualify for a wide array of jobs. All depends on what you’re looking for
Can youtake biomedical engineering as premed
Yes!! You may have to fit a few more classes into your curriculum, but I know multiple people who did premed!!
Hi, i decided be BME. Indeed, i love this profession and each times that i learn more about the possibility of discoveries of this path i became more excited.
Yes!! I love how many opportunities come with this field, and it’s continually growing!
I’ve heard that if you would want to into biomed engin you should major in mech engin bc of job markets reasons and employers prefer mechE degree. What’s your take on this
I haven’t personally seen this! My company would hire a MechE, but almost all of us are biomed. If you wanted to do MechE, and focus on bioengineering, I’d recommend getting a minor that would align!! But I can see that argument, since MechE is even broader than bioengineering. But honestly, any job you’re going to get, you just have to know how to pitch yourself and your skill set!
You are gorgeous👍🏻💐can I communicate with you on whatsapp I am studying BME in 4th year and I need advice from someone special like you🙏🏻
Love your accent ❣️ I have also a plan to take bio engineering as a major ❣️
Wow, thank you! And I am so glad that I did! I’m sure it’ll be great for you as well 😄
1st year biomed engnr here, great video. Just curious to know that when you say you got the job without experience, does that mean that you hadn't even had any internships or work experiences during your degree too?
ok nvm, I got my answer 8 minutes in😂
Honestly, thank you so much for this! I've wanted to pursue this field since I was literally in 6th grade, but I've worried that I'm a little too set on it considering I'm only a senior in high school. This video for sure helps me solidify that I know what I'm getting myself into lol
I’m so glad this helped you know what you’re getting yourself into! It’s a very fulfilling career path, and honestly I still had a ton of fun in college (even with all the work 😂)
yo what did you end up doing, I am currently a 12th grader and interested in biotech/biomed too
what did you end up doing?
I just subscribed. Awesome video, thanks for your insight, you're a lifesaver.
Why thank you!! I’m glad it could help
Thank you so much too🤝
You are so beautiful!
Girl I’m so sorry! I’ve been sick a lot too at the start of 2022! And I’m long-distance too but it makes things so sweet when you see them. I know the struggle though! Sending love.❤️
Moving to a new place plus being sick, stressed, being in a long-distance relationship and the pandemic on top of it all is hard! You are doing the best you can dealing with everything. I am sending you so much love and I hope you feel better soon ❤
do you have any advice for the first year of college in bme?💕
Make friends with people in your major!! Once I started doing this, studying became less daunting and I honestly created some amazing memories from it!
What a great video! I’m a junior in high school planning to study biomedical engineering but I’m always contemplating whether it’s the right job for me. This video was very helpful!
I’m so glad it could help you! Feel free to reach out with any questions 😄 it’s been a journey, but I’m so glad I went this route
