      Thank you for your kind words. At this point I have completed all my Chemo, Immunotherapy, and radiation treatments. Both the Chemo and Radiation were hard on me. I am still trying to recover from the radiation which gave me Radiation Pneumonitis in my lung. Immunotherapy will continue indefinitely I am told. This is my latest update. Thanks again.

    What exactly does the 12 volt power pack do and is it needed? I’m assuming it’s to power the CPU fan as plugging directly into an outlet would be too much power? Can you explain how the power pack actually works? Thank you.

    • @oldmantech5399
      @oldmantech5399 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I can Terry. Most computer fans operate from a 12 volt power source. My power "converter" or supply processes 120 AC voltage to 12 volts. There is a step-down transformer that reduces the AC voltage to a manageable level follow by rectifier circuit that changes the AC voltage to DC voltage that can be adjustable or fixed. You can buy them readymade and yes, 120 volts is too much power and the wrong kind. Unless of course you would like to hear a loud "pop" combined with smoke and flame and perhaps the chance of getting electrocuted. Not recommended. Thanks for comment.

      A pretty generalized statement without any specifics to back it up. You are entitled to your opinion however, in my opinion, at the time of the video I spent about 200 dollars per window. I have had only one issue out of 16 windows and it was promptly addressed by service. The windows are paying for themselves each year with energy savings. Not to mention the absence of labor costs which, is why I made the video to give others the same opportunity. Thanks for the comment. I wish you well.

    • @oldmantech5399

      The bread box was originally produced with holes on both sides and in the back which, allows for good exchange of fresh air while maintaining adequate heat on the inside. Thanks for the question Eddie.

    Revell bodies are usually pretty thin, which makes them good for building slotcars, because they are also very light. But, they are often deformed alittle. Doing chrome is difficult and can be frustrating. Your build turned out well, I like the engine very much.

    I have this exact problem also, August, 2023! Im having trouble even getting the rug dr disassembled. I'm no stranger to repairs and have recently rebuilt a Shark and dyson vacuums and several trimmers and mowers this summer. I think I am being too gentle with my effort. but did break a tang off the spray boost guide while hitting the unit with a rubber hammer. Is is safe to pry on the joints with a stiff putty knife. Even left it 90 degree sun for a while trying to coak it apart! Yes all screws are removed! Thanks from Kentucky!

    • @oldmantech5399
      @oldmantech5399 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I found disassembly a real pain. I used a rubber mallet and a couple size screwdrivers. Sometimes you can separated two seams to see what is holding you up. There may be a tang or pressure point that needs relieved. Then proceed with caution. Good luck

    • @oldmantech5399
      @oldmantech5399 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your guess is a good as mine. What would you have in it for materials and labor? How much would it be worth to someone restored? If it was an original Duncan Phyfe with documentation and markings, probably, quite a lot. Mine is not. At least it is not provable. The value of my table is it's worth to my children when they acquire it. Personal value.

    🎉Thank you! You have gifted a wealth of information I am in need of as another non professional who tinkers, recycles, re imagines and rescues furniture. I have rescued 2 of Duncans tables of diffent sizes recently. Which wait patiently in the garage while I devour information and collect information. Seeing your work🎉 I am much more prepared, the details, the specific hardware. Thank you! I just ordered the paint/ stain stripper and thanks to you I feel much better about this project. 🎉Best wishes🎉

    Hi thank you for the video this helped but I have another issue, the handheld tool works but I am not getting spray on the main machine, I have checked and the ports are not clogged. I am guessing that the solenoid that switches pressure from the tool to the main body is stuck. The one I have on the machine is black and has 3 ports, one going through the solenoid and exiting out the top. I have seen solenoids on eBay for the dcc1 but they are blue and the 3rd water port goes straight out the bottom vs though the solenoid. Will that solenoid work?

    • @oldmantech5399
      @oldmantech5399 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure without researching the matter. You could try removing the 3 hoses and loosen the solenoid to soak it some white vinegar for overnight. Then, power the machine the next day and see or feel if the solenoid clicks when you flip the switch. If it does, reattach the hoses and feed some water to verify otherwise, you may need to replace. Notice: This procedure is for educational purpose only. There is a chance of electrical shock or death from powering an open unit. This commenter assumes no liability for injuries incurred if procedure is followed. Thanks for the comment.

    You’ve explained grounding very well. I just started using a sleep mat and have noticed a substantial improvement in back and shoulders pain. I use an outdoor grounding rod and you mentioned in your comments to check for any return electrical current from the ground. How would I check that?

    • @oldmantech5399
      @oldmantech5399 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a very good question Vincent. I would be difficult to check as, to check current flow, there must be a "source" and a "load" that you would check with an amp meter in series between the grounding rod and the sheet connection or, using a clamp-on amp meter around the wire to the sheet. As mentioned in my opening comment, I have a fuse in-line with my bed sheet to protect from possible current spike, like from nearby lightning strike. There is can be a degree of stray current in the ground due to possible neighbors with wiring errors inducing current through the neighborhood plumbing system if they use the metal plumbing for ground (for example). Also, ground is used for a return path back to the substation in early systems. In either case, you should be protected because you are "grounded". Hope this addresses your concerns. Thanks for the comment.
