MEGAN HYATT MILLER: Embracing the Unconventional Path
In this episode of The Double Win Show, Megan Hyatt Miller delivers a powerful and heartfelt keynote about her journey as CEO of Full Focus. She candidly shares the lessons she’s learned through leadership challenges, personal growth, and the pursuit of sustainable success.
Drawing on her experiences, Megan offers four unconventional keys for success as a leader. Whether you’re a business leader, entrepreneur, or simply someone seeking greater fulfillment, this episode is packed with wisdom to help you align your priorities and grow into the person you’re meant to be.
Memorable Quotes
1. “Most worthwhile things are harder and take longer than we think they should… They’re really costly, and often painful, and always testing the limits of our patience.”
2. “These experiences of resistance strengthen the architecture of our character enough to hold the weight of success. Sustainable success demands maturity.”
3. “The hardest problems-the ones that make us want to throw in the towel-are often the exact reason we’re in the room.”
4. “If you could dare to believe it, problems aren’t a bug, they’re a feature-a feature that grows us up.”
5. “You can’t wait until you’ve arrived to start living fully. You have to build the life you want as you go.”
6. “The process of becoming is the best part of being human. That sense of reaching for more, of fulfilling our potential, of growing into the kinds of people our younger selves would admire-that’s the heart of a life well-lived.”
Key Takeaways
1. Less is More. Growth requires focus and patience. Overextending leads to burnout, but prioritizing what truly matters ensures lasting impact.
2. Problems Aren’t Problems. They’re not signs of failure but invitations to grow stronger and wiser. Accept them as part of the process.
3. Keep On Going. Success takes time, persistence, and maturity. Stay committed to the journey, even when it’s hard.
4. Remember What Matters. True fulfillment comes from balancing professional achievements with a thriving personal life.

Evening routine is what I really need! Thanks for the reminder! And exercise and a hot bath 😊
Great interview. My take away: “How we lead ourselves impacts everything. Self-leadership always precedes team effectiveness. Team effectiveness always affects organizational impact.” Daniel Harkavy That one statement was good for me.❤ ❤❤❤❤
Great show. I woke up thinking it was time to begin my planning for 2025. Timing for this show could not have been better. I have shared it with my daughter and my accountability partner. 🎉
I need captions
What a great conversation! I loved it. Thank you
Another great interview. I’m getting so much for myself (personal growth) my business dealings (managing communications) and for my family (creating awareness to resources that are on point, professional and target rich) and friends. Thank you and keep it going!
I have heard of people who just had the sweets “on the holidays” who never got off the sweets and got really unhealthy so if you are able to keep that commitment you won’t regret it IMO!
My one thing is to take better care of myself, especially sleep more
Ha ha, and a matching Stanley cup too! That's detailed planning for a podcast ;-)
Thank you for this video, I got a lot out of it! One thing I have learned in life about setting boundaries is that we don’t have to justify them or act like they are just because of some inadvertent thing right now when what we really want is not to be asked again. We can thank people for thinking of us and validate what they are doing without saying yes, or making excuses why not. “Thanks for thinking of me, I’m not available but that’s great that you are doing that. I hope it goes well!” If they try to convince you, just keep repeating it. Don’t start making excuses because then they think you owe them one and can somehow convince you. If they badger you, ask them not to badger you! Don’t be afraid to show humorous awareness of their audacity, and try to show love in other ways when you see them. They will be fine, and if they are not fine, they didn’t come fine in the first place. It’s not you. And you can’t fix that. Also boundaries need to be established and re-established. It’s not always enough to set them once. Remind people when they over step and don’t allow it without at least a look! 🤨😄 and repeat like a broken record until they tire of the whole thing and bother someone else 😂🤷♀️😅
Is there any way that I can get the transcript to the episode? I wasn’t able to find it. Thank you soo much
Will these be updated with the new Planners?
I needed this right now. Good reminders!
The first time I heard about Don Miller was on Michael Hyatt and his daughter, Megan Hyatt Miller's The Double Win podcast. That episode was a game-changer for me. After hearing about Don Miller’s work, I immediately bought all of his books, especially Coach Builder, which has been truly life-changing. That book inspired me to embark on my path to becoming a coach. I’ve been a huge advocate, client, and evangelist of the Full Focus system since 2016, and one of my goals is to become a Full Focus certified coach. I’m excited that both Full Focus and Coach Builder are working together to create this system-it’s amazing! It feels like everything is falling into place, and I’m excited to build my business using both systems. Thank you to Don Miller and Michael Hyatt for creating inspiring resources that have impacted my life and many others.
Can you make it where i can buy 1 and not have to do subscription
I think I have slid into the habit of using my planner as a to-do list. I'm overwhelmed by work and mom jobs.
we need you to drop your skincare routine Marissa!
As a fellow health TH-camr, I just wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for this insightful episode featuring Dr. Gladys McGarey. Her perspective on the connection between purpose and health is not only refreshing but also incredibly relevant in today's fast-paced world. It's fascinating to hear how Dr. McGarey views diseases as opportunities for learning rather than just obstacles to overcome. This holistic approach aligns with the growing body of research that emphasizes the mind-body connection and the importance of mental well-being in physical health. Moreover, her extensive experience in the field of holistic medicine serves as a powerful reminder of the value of integrating traditional and alternative practices for a more comprehensive approach to health. I believe that sharing stories, as Dr. McGarey does, can significantly enhance our understanding and acceptance of holistic health principles. Thank you for bringing such a valuable conversation to your audience. I look forward to more episodes that explore the intersection of purpose, health, and well-being!
For the big three, do you have Home and work big three?
Nice! Q4! Welcome back!
I'm using my first Wellness version of the Full Focus Planner, the weekly preview pages are very interesting. On them, I moved a list of habits I'd been copying to the bottom of every day's to do list to the expanded habit tracker. I think I'm going to really like this aspect of the planner.
Have the little boxes now been removed? I can't see any in my planner!
🎉🎉Thank you for sending me an invitation to follow you on LinkedIn! I found your show again! 🎉🎉
Ha ha, I bought the book 1min 10 into the podcast! I like to think I'm really 30, with 35 years experience 🙂
We do testing of employees for employers, and often test dozens of people at a time. A while back we began giving out a gift card if someone was being tested on their birthday. It’s a $5 or $10 card to a coffee shop (Tim Horton’s for the Canadians) but you would think they had won the lottery from their reaction! We have extended that idea a bit since and the reactions we get FAR outweigh the cost of the cards.
A weekly dose of positivity! Love it. Aaaaand another book purchased....
Thank you very much for this video explaining your newly revised journal. It has changed since I owned one of these 5 years ago. I ordered this version and hope it arrives with the new format. The old version had 8 basic questions for each day with a writing section to write about each question. This new one looks far more in depth and will certainly help me.❤😊
Thanks so much!! This is very helpful. I see now why this planner is so much better than the ones I have used in the past. It is based on one’s entire life, not just work.
I got a new smartphone recently (switched from iPhone to Google Pixel Pro) and I decided to try leveraging the calendar and note taking apps to better organize my life and reach my goals. This episode was extremely useful, you have a new listener! Thanks!
Do you document your streak tracker in the weekly preview BEFORE or after the current week?
This was an amazing conversation! I love how simple and practical Jim's strategies are. I'm team shelf-help books... super stoked to apply speed reading techniques.
When I started using the FFP with the end of day shut down, I added extra time for that on Friday and it allowed me to greatly reduce that Sunday afternoon/evening overthinking. So often now when a thought pops up I can say, yup already on the plan. If I am not sure I can check or add it quickly and move on with my weekend. Friday planning is a game changer!
I've been really enjoying The Double Win series with the new guest speakers. However, I have a small recommendation. Somewhere between The Lightning Round and Final Thoughts and Reflections could you please ask your guest where your audience can find them. Do they have a TH-cam page? Social Media? Website? All of your guests have been amazing and it would be helpful to know where I could learn more about them. Thanks. Praying for continued success for Full Focus and all of the Hyatt family and extended family members like Mamy!
A bit of context on what this planner is all about would be helpful. With zero context these "tips" make no sense
I could listen to this conversation all day. So many amazing insights 👏🏼
Thank you Megan and Michael for sharing Jon with us. I watch this twice and I am going to watch it again. "The door is always open, all you have to do is to turn the handle". Thank you, Jon.
Can I clarify - how would you classify 'deep work' in the 'stage' way of thinking - could it be front state, eg recording a presentation? I’m not sure that feels right…If admin is back stage work, and being more public facing is front stage, where does the 'deep' stuff that requires consideration and contemplation fit in?
I have been following and almost done number of BYE courses...my boss said I am delusional and fired me...
Full of jewels
Love the revamp this season and this was probably my favorite episode so far. Never heard of Kris before. Great job team DW!
I loved your book Will Guidara! Unreasonable Hospitality via Audible was a great listening experience. Thank you for sharing your love for people, excellence, and hospitality with the world!!!
I can feel the excitement and energy!❤
Great interview. 😅 Patrick is terrifc. I get it. Are you doing what you are made to do. I’m going to take the assessment and hope to get others in my family to do the same.
Hi Guys,. 6/28/24 Terrific interview Kris has a lot to offer. She has gone through so much and has successfully navigated her way past a minefield of issues and problems. Wow! I’ll have to listen to this one three or four times.
