Summary.. pay cash.
I already have the money to be a cash buyer but I want the leverage to argue for a better price at the dealership. A strategy that makes sense in my mind is, prior to going to the dealer, I should go to my credit union and to get preapproved for a loan. Find out my credit score and any prepayment fees or time limitations they have. Go to the dealer, view the vehicle I am interested in and ask for the out-the-door price. Give them a positive impression that I will take out a loan through them but confirm that there is no prepayment or minimum month loan fees. Negotiate an out the door price that I am happy with, sign the loan, write a check for the down payment. Then when the payment booklet arrives, pay off the loan and I am done.

Car Dealers have brought this crap storm upon themselves with decades of shady dealings with customers. The only paperwork needed is the title, a sales receipt and a certified check from YOUR BANK for the full amount. Whether that is from your personal account or the loan department is between YOU and YOUR BANK. All this sales pitch about this, that and the other is BS. Put your sales staff on a fixed salary and then reward them at the end of the year with "a pizza party".
Best way to do it sell ur trade on privately walk in pre approved from ur bank only haggle cost of the vehicle have comparable ready to see blue book values they will hate u lol
Never finance a car or truck.
People paying cash for cars are absolutely idiotic. I don’t care if you want to be “debt free” based on payments/interest. I make at least 10% a month on the market with that money. You are effectively losing money if you don’t finance. Just make sure you have the disposable income to pay cash, but never do it.

Just ask for otd pricing don’t give up what ur doing. Know what the price is first

Paying cash, is the kryptonite of a finance managers😂. Also, paying for bumper to bumper normal wear and tear etc…wheels and tires suspension etc is total BS!
What I did was have my financing in order, then financed with them, then after making two payments, paid the car off in full.

after many purchases, i still don't fall for the 'game' , what do you mean you don't want the flashing 3rd stop signal, it is a safety thing. (if it was then the state would require it) and so forth. i do all my purchases at the same dealership and the finance person knows not to try it.

My GAP insurance costs $1,200, and it's added to my monthly payment over 60 months. Does this seem like too much? Should I cancel within the 30-day refund period and look for a cheaper option elsewhere?
It is high, yes. Especially for 60 months. However, I would not cancel if it's needed and unless your auto insurance company tells you that they will absolutely put GAP on it for you ahead of time. GAP is rarely sold as a stand alone product and typically must be placed at the time of purchase. You may be in a situation where that $1200 could pay off $5000 for you. Next time, make sure you need it first and then negotiate the price ✅

I was wondering if anyone can help me understand how my car loan terms have expired but I still owe money. So I financed it for so many months those months are up but I still owe money on the car and the bank tells me that they are no longer doing monthly payments they just want the rest of the money that's owed ,now ! I am so confused I didn't even know that this was possible.
It sounds like you had a Balloon note where you make smaller monthly payments and then pay a final larger lump sum at the end of the loan term. I recommend getting out your copies of your paperwork you signed and go over your contract 👍
Did just what she said! Walked in w/my quiet yet knowledgeable mechanic relative, who buys cars like we drink water, checked it all out and took it for a ride, then paid cash (2yr old car) and off I went! Now they’re begging me to sell it back waaay cheaper! Snakes.

I trade up more often that most. Always have a walk away price, always nit-pick the sales sheet the salesman brings to you (they pad the crap out of that thing), never fall for their "add-ons" (95% of the time you won't even use them), always go in approved from your bank/CU (if they can beat it, so be it), always know the current promos offered by the manufacture. I can't count how many times the dealership has started with "we can't honor the discounts and give you the APR pro by the manufacture" before I end up walking out with the discounts and APR promo. I've actually had 2 dealerships tell me "thanks for your business, please don't come back." LOL

I work for a dealership as the car detailer. Dealerships are always selling "garbage" products add inflated prices where you can buy these products much cheaper at Walmart or AutoZone. Don't buy any product the dealership sells you it's a waste of money. Take it from a detailer who's been in the business for 15 years

Recently purchased a 2025 Buick Envista in FL.. Clerical fee(699.50) and Electronic filing fee 150.00 were our only fee's on the otd price. Got them to show me invoice. They took $490 off so i thought it was fair. Most other dealers in FL ARE NOT this reasonable. I did my homework and went into 3 stealorships prepared to get a fair price.
I put 75% down in cash on a new f150 in order to get the 7000 rebate on the truck and then when the first payment was due I paid it off
What products
I just bought another work truck and they were pushing gap hard. The F&I manager was irritated with me for not buying it. I’m at a point where I can easily pay the difference. My argument was if it’s financially beneficial for the insurance company to sell me gap, then it’s financially beneficial for me to not buy it if I can afford the difference.
You’re basically saying anything that benefits the customer, they don’t want to hear. This is why no one wants to buy a car from a dealership
My dealer put a credit inquiry in my final transaction paperwork. I just left it blank. I think they were just dumb, not evil.

They have bigger problems like not selling cars...Ford is overpriced garbage.
This is the lesson instilled in me by my strict mother. My only inquiry pertains to how a Land Owner transitioned into a Sub Land Owner without the tenant's awareness in my updated contract regarding this new financial agreement. 😁

Kimberly! I Love your channel! I need your help tho, seriously! Lol So , I'm flying from Sc to Ohio on Tuesday to go possibly buy a New Colorado Truck. I put my deposit down to reserve it and now they want me to do a credit application before I go there. I havent even drove the truck yet. The pic and videos look great ,but I have to drive it. Here is my dilemma. We agreed on $38,062 . I am putting 20k down and financing the rest. I am pre-approved thru my credit union for 5.9 percent for 72 months. Under the condition I show them recent paystubs ...well...here is the issue I don't work for anyone I work for myself and I make cash. So I do not have paystubs. I was hoping because my credit score is 777 that they wouldn't go down that route and I could breeze by that. Back to the dealorship, if I tell them I have a pre-approval and see if they can beat it , do u think they will want some sort of document showing my pay...? I have been so worried about this , it makes me sick. I make plenty of money to pay for this truck , I just can't prove it. I am a dog groomer and I use to work for other businesses and those are still on my credit report , I was hoping they would just not ask for anything at the dealorship....I am looking for your honest answer. What would u do? My bf said he would cosign if he had to. I really don't want him to. I wish this was still live lol! You did great. So. Im flying to Ohio on Tuesday to possibly buy a new truck. This salesmen has been the best so far and it has agreed to a good price. I am putting a 1 k deposit down. They called today to see if I could fill out a credit app before I come in. Not sure that is a good idea , what do u think? I'm assuming that is a big no no.
Why anybody would buy a car from a dealership is beyond me. If you must do that, don’t buy any extras at all absolutely nothing. Just write a check and leave. If they give you any grief, get up and walk out. I’m 60 years old. I’ve been driving my Ford Ranger for the last 15 years. It’s still in great shape. I hope never to buy another car. If this one needs a new engine, that’s cheaper than a new car.
