As December unfolds in the north of Sweden, the days grow shorter until the sun barely peaks above the horizon. Amid this wintery stillness, preparations for Jul (Christmas) bring warmth and light. Homes fill with the comforting scents of gingerbread and glögg, and candles illuminate every window. Families gather to craft straw ornaments and weave traditions into the fabric of the season.
The snow-covered forests seem to hum with anticipation, echoing the spirit of community and celebration that defines this time of year. While the nights may be long, the joy of Jul lights up every heart, making the darkness a cherished part of Sweden’s seasonal charm.The winter solstice and the shortest day of the year is today and winter is here with full power, snow and -21C!
