"Abandon all arrogance, all vanity, and acquire Majesty. Beat constantly at the door of poverty and annihilation. Purify yourself totally and become dust So from your dust flowers can keep springing. When you become a flower, dry, and burn joyfully So from your burning Light may flame out. If through your burning you turn yourself to ash, Your ashes will become the philosopher's stone in the In...

Bravo! 他就这样,水灵灵地吹了12分钟……
This has to be the most beautiful alto sax I have ever heard in my life, I am a saxophone major, and I wish I can sound as crystal clear as you do. Whatever you do, keep playing saxophone!
Skibidi masterpiece
👏
Very nice performance
Beautifully done
This pissed me off.
Great stuff!! well done 👏👏👏
Despair all ye amateurs (like me!) This is dazzling virtuosity.
Pardon my unprofessional speaking, but this absolutely rips. Good stuff.
Complimenti!!
Beautiful playing, Doug.
Love the bariolage section. You must have trained with Michael Phelps
Amazing musicianship and colors. Bravo!!
[name redacted] Why? A wonderful performance.
I am happy to give you my like 5 for yout performance!
Soprano cadenza is very cool; the fast tonguing part of it especially impressive.
Congratulations, very good job!
ß
Bach would fucking love this.
It's so fucking anoying
I am looking for notes of this work. Help me please.
Do saxophone players rush everything?
chas5131 Yes.
To be honest, yes The saxophone is kind of an easier instrument, and simpler rhythms to some are too boring to play slow and in time
Heard this last month on the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage in Washington DC, www.kennedy-center.org/video/index/M66683 Amazing! Doug is a premier saxophonist with the US Army Band, Pershing's Own. Almost makes me want to join the Army (again).
Bravo! It was really impressive!
whats your setup?
Oh, the irony that this apparently got pegged by TH-cam as having a copyrighted soundtrack...
Absolutely beautiful. Well done.
Great! Wish I had seen it live in Zagreb..
What were those multiphonics? Wild!
Bravo!
A 4 stars wow! I won honors concert by playing on my violin 35 years ago but you play it better! I salute you sir--both for your service to our country and for your musicianship and interpretation of J.S. Bach. Bless you sir!
Heck yeah! :) Did you ditch the low-A sop? Looking forward to seeing you at GMU in a few weeks.
rloomis3 no haha, that’s the same soprano. I’ll look forward to seeing you as well!
That slap tonguing immitated full the sound of a woodpecker bird...Amazing interpretation of this super difficult piece!!! Fantastic!!!!!
j'écoute parce qu'il faut s'ouvrir à toutes les musiques. elles sont le reflet du cœur de chaque compositeur, mais j'ai vraiment du mal avec la musique contemporaine, cependant j'admire la performance de ce musicien. bravo !!!!
Awesome!
how do you do the gliss in the beginning of the song to the altísimo a from the high F. the gliss sounds like he scooped upwards
+REY HERRERA yeah it's the use of the throat/oral cavity in addition to the fingerings. He does scoop up to it with a combination of throat voicing with most likely a gliss of sorts with his fingerings.
i disagree
how do you do the gliss in the beginning of the song to the altísimo a from the high F. the gliss sounds like he scooped upwards
were you circular breathing?
+Grace Ishikawa Of course!
Somewhere in England, Byrd is lying in his grave, content with this extraordinary sound. Well done!
May I ask where can I purchase this version of Chaconne? Thank you and well done!!!
RasenLu, thank you for your compliments. I have not, unfortunately, bothered to write it down. For the most part I've learned it from the violin score and made my decisions while practicing it about how to approach multiple stops, etc. You are certainly not the first to ask, however, so I will try and get on publishing my version. I think what's holding me back is trying to make it more appropriate with the ornaments: I had a lesson with Kris Bezuidenhout on this piece and he had some brilliant ideas which I haven't really had a chance to fully realize yet. Check out Skip Sempe's Chaconne on iTunes or elsewhere for an incredible example. Cheers, Doug
Doug O'Connor Oh, that's awesome! Hope you all the best to you! It's very impressive that since listened your "Jungle", that kind leaded me actually into a new level of view. Also I will go for this year adolphe saxophone competition. deep appreciate!! Can I ask what mouthpiece, ligature and reeds that you use? thank you.
@RasenLu You may copy the link and paste into a site online by googling mp3 youtube conversion. There are several. And they will give you audio mp3 so you can download.
Doug is really topnotch . Wonder what he's up to?
Where did you buy the sheet music for saxophone and band? I am only able to find the alto saxophone and piano arrangement.
Where do i find this piece? I could never play it, but it might be fun to just have and put on my wall and look at XD Maybe Ill give it a shot when i get to college. But really where can i find this?
Great to have some new posts from you, Doug. Sounding terrific, as always!
Sounds great! Nice work, Doug.
Hoooly shit. I'ma have to learn this soon, sounds intense. Thanks for this recording, great performance.
terrific!!
were you circular breathing?
You sure play the shit out of that song!
