    That's not Ivy, that's Balsam, loads still around and they will take it over anything else. The plants and in 2nd and 3rd flower. If that was ivy you would not be able to extract imo

      Hi Tony. On the 26th Sept I drained the flow super and left them for a week hoping they would clean them up before removal. For that week nothing was coming in (as you know my hives are on scales and I can monitor their weight accurately minute by minute). To my surprise on the 3rd October they registered a huge increase of 6kg in one day!! Then a further increase of another 5kg up until the day of that video when I drained them out again. Over the past 3/4 weeks I haven't seen any bees coming home with the tell tale signs of being covered in Balsam pollen. So I my assumption is that it's Ivy. PS. hardly any of it was capped

  • @TonyLeach-airguntech
    @TonyLeach-airguntech ปีที่แล้ว

    Mate that could be ivy, you should have had flow supers off last week and normal frames on. Walk out, way up what the bees are foraging. Balsam has 2 weeks max now, Ivy is in full bloom and flow is on.

    • @dickymint4109
      @dickymint4109 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Tony I've been very lazy of late and kept putting it off. I should know better as I had that hive 'clog' up last year due to Ivy. I'm fairly sure it's Balsam and the Ivy in my garden and my neighbours is not yet in bloom. I'm going to try and empty the frames today and remove........then deal with the other one. Fingers crossed!

      Any mistakes, hoarseness or dissatisfaction anyone has is NOT because of Ms. Ross age, but the fact that she just sang at the Queens Jubilee prior to all her UK concerts, plus prior to this concert she's been on tour for over one month! GO BACK & LOOK at Ms. Ross' Jubilee performance, her FIRST in the UK since Covid & you will see how smooth & toned both her natural singing & speaking voice was! Perhaps instead of attacking Ms. Ross you should simply realize that her vocal chords need a break like any other human. Remember, Ms. Ross has to also talk to band members & her children & grandchildren. Unfortunately no one gave Ms. Ross a drink of much needed water or tea while on stage, which would have certainly helped her overworked vocals! There's so much a human body can endure, including a Queen like Ms. Ross! Every Diana Ross concert I have attended was an absolute MAGNIFICENT JOY & THE BEST OF CONCERTS! Have a lovely day! Peace

    Thanks for posting these clips- so glad I passed on tickets this time. It's so sad to see how far Diana has declined. I'm a lifelong fan but in all honesty she sounds awful. Not one note in tune and clearly struggling. Age is no excuse if you're no longer able to perform at the.highest level you're shortchanging fans. Why don't you try traveling to another side of the world and give back-to-back concerts sometimes three consecutive nights in a row in three different cities, states, countries at times, and see what you sound like without giving your voice a rest. I think after 60+ years, she can deserve to be out of tune. The real fact is that she is doing this for pure pleasure and trying to give her fans perhaps one last go-around before she decides to hang it up and really sail in the sunset with her grandchildren and family and enjoy what this cruel world has to offer. She does not need the money, neither does she need the negative criticism. It's like comparing someone who worked 24+ hours at an automated assembly plant without getting any sleep, taking any breaks, and going without eating anything all-day. Do you really think they are going to be bushy-eyed, energetic, cheery, and ready to do another 24 hours, Hell Nah!, That's what these performances do to an entertainer, it breaks them down at times, and she does well to recover. Ross gets all the credit and deserves every bit of accolades that comes her way. She's resilient and can be unmatched! Way to go Ross! She is the definition of a "True Humanitarian"!

I hope you're as supportive of your doctor in his 80's who constantly fails to perform to his best- is he allowed to make mistakes because he's had a long career? Of course not! You're going about it the whole wrong way. This way takes far too much time. The way I did it was really easy and it was literally a case of getting some wooden frames and assembling the top and sides of the Langstroth frames before cable tying the national to them. Job done, never had a problem. The problem is you're then left with odd shaped frames; so all you do in that regard is let the bees fill out the colony a bit and then add another brood underneath, let them fill out a bit more then use a crown board with a porter escape to get as many out of the original brood box as possible; then I snip the cable ties and pop the old frames back in the national. Your idea would be great if all of them went in as easy as the frame before the one with the queen on but you can see it's far too fiddly. And you're too nervous, relax into it (easier said than done, I know!)

      You are spot on there Gloria. It goes against all i was taught at 'school' by my local association and mentors (this season will only be my third as a keeper) but it was the lesser of two evils hence the haste and obvious nervousness to get it done. You may have noticed the small heart shaped device on top of the brood chamber. It's part of my monitoring system that sends temperature, humidity and audio data to my computer and phone. It flagged up a red warning for atypical humidity which was very very close to being raining inside!! It was totally my error as I knew I'd forgotten to insulate between the roof and brood. To do the job properly the video shows what i had to do. TH-cam is a bit of a pain to reply in detail (i use it mainly to store videos only) as i'd love to post a screenshot or link that shows a more or less immediate decrease in humidity from 82% down to 58% which is well within a climate the bees can deal with. Thank you for your interest and I hope the video also shows how resilient our bees can be and that sometimes "the rules" need to be questioned. PS. I'm dead chuffed at the strength of this colony and looking forward to trying to prevent them swarming come early Spring lol ;)

      Tis interesting but a bit of a luxury really considering I already get similar data based on weight change via the scales. Maybe an expensive entrance reducer and mouse guard lol.
