Just started vlogging, apparently that's what the youngsters call it these days when I accidentally uploaded two video's in succession.
Fourth Advent Sunday 2024
Last day of the dark days before christmas. The fourth advent sunday and a fourth piece of music. It's based of an old composition I made over thirty years ago for a movie project, Shadow Mountain. But this time arranged for my live jam set up.

Been attending open modular stages recently and hosted my own open oscillator night which was tons of fun! Added some modular stuff to the crave and made a stand to hold it all. Did two songs that were more polished than the live jams I usualy do, this is a recording of one of them so hope you like it!

Same recipe as before, the Beatsep connected to the RD9, the MicroKorg and the Crave. Then the patched up Crave connected to the TD3. Making some music, heard this little bouncy melody in a mix and wanted to make a little jam with it. Played the melody into my looper pedal beforehand, the rest is improvised. Reminded me of the Belgian New Beat sound. Just two instruments and a looper, really like the restriction to boost the creativity and come up with something simple but catchy. Tuesday in the Mix

It had been a while, this tuesday evening I was keen on a little bit of music making, allready tried to make something catered to a specific sound or vibe, but that is not what I am sharing here, I like to start and record and then see what comes out, just the moment, no use in trying to recreate, it has been done and the next time it will be entirely different, some hits, some misses. ooo I almost got a crave but I went with a spice. I donno why sequencer pads scare me. I like your sound, percussion and bass synth with guitar lead = happy harmonies.
🎉🎉🎉
Dankje!
Just got the korg microkorg- any recs for my setup since im just starting out?
Depends on what you want to do. A little mixer and a drummachine was wat I needed. But you could start with an audio interface to connect the MicroKorg to your computer. using Midi to sync and control the synth and some software to add more to the sound, ableton or FL studio. Or get in a band as the synthplayer.
Great demo 😊. Can you actually save the drum patterns ?
Thanks 😊 Yes you can!
Lekker man.
One of the best robots!
Hey, whats your frequency tuning that you used in this video? I see the knob is not in the center position
It's full to the left, counter clockwise. When playing with other synths I turn it up to match the right tuning or play around with it to get a nice rise or fall sound.
❤
Love it
Hello my friend, watching your video I came to the point, that you maybe could help me with a little (big) problem. It's this: I have a CRAVE and a RD-9 and I want the RD-9 controlling the CRAVE with Clock and start/stop. So that I still are able to program the CRAVE via its internal sequencer, but that the tempo is synchronized with the RD-9. Very simple. But without a proper manual... you see my point? Would be great, if you can give me an instruction how I can solve this little (big) problem. Greetings!
One sollution would be to have the sync out of the RD9 go into the play/stop of the crave using a patch cable, which should be provided with the crave. Another option would be using a midi cable, out of the RD9 and in on the Crave.
@@Argh0naut Thanx a lot! Via MIDI there comes only the start/stop signal, not the clock. Via sync >> play/stop it works, but the tempo is with a big factor faster. Synchronized but with 4 steps while the RD-9 makes one. Usable but really not comfortable.
@@ohrengold the crave needs to be set to receiving the clock: www.reddit.com/r/synthesizers/comments/ec0b7f/comment/fc3j2kg/
@@Argh0naut It's only doing half of the job. But thanx, it helped me a few steps and all the rest I will find out. Have a nice day!

Awesome video mate, just the thig for a Saturday night while cooking my dinner
klinkt goed! 😄🎉
If I'd of heard this in my E days I would of danced all night BOOM
Tof!
Can’t you just connect them via midi and do separate audio outs into your interface or mixer instead of passing the audio through the microkorg as well as midi? Doesn’t passing both the audio and midi apply and fx from the MicroKorg to whatever drum machine is running?
Four years ago I did not have a mixer or audio interface, nor a sequencers or any knowledge of video settings for stabilizing😅 So this is a simple setup for those who just started. Passing the drums through the microkorg can have some nice effects when using the vocoder effects filtering the drum sounds. Did a video with the same setup as well.
At some point the Drumbrute Impact starts for the beats and around 4:18 you can hear the Microkorg too. The rest is just the crave.
Wow u suc
With great vigor, it's a life goal I am always striving for!
Just subbed purely because how enthusiastic the first few seconds of this video were 😁
That's a valid reason 🥳
Ik this comment is hella late, but is there anyway to be able to control the effects whilst playing the midikorg, or is it the simple sound and you cant get out of midi setting
The only thing the midi connection controls is the clock, so the effects are controled by the machines individually.
Awesome, hope your having a good year
Hi, great video! im having trouble with syncing the microkorg to a roland tr 8s, here's my problem: The roland i use as master (midi out) to the korg (midi in/slave), so that the arpegiator of the korg follows the tempo of the roland. Everything is pretty perfect so far except although the arpegiator tempo is correct, half of the time it starts and stays off beat. How do i get the arpegiator to run perfectly on the beat, what am I doing wrong? Or is the microkorg simply "inaccurate" by design? Ps i tried matching midi channels but that makes the arpegiator glitch by playing notes i'm not even touching, so even worse. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thx!
Start by setting the midi from the korg to ext. That should be enough for the clock signal to sync. The arpegiator has some settings as well, Arp B and key sync, try to toggle that and see what happens. I think Key sync should be off to sync to the clock to be on beat. Hope that helps!
@@Argh0naut thx! i'll try that and let you know!
great. whats the name of the orange interface
It's the Behringer Crave, a semi modular based on the Moog Mother-32.
Love it! Beautiful!
Zie er gaaf uit, Daan!
this kicks ass :-)
gavno!
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and yours mate.
Merry Christmas to you and those dear to you too!
Thanks, do you think these patches work the same with the TD-3-MO ?
I think it should, the basics would work the same, just some more options and controls.
Perfect, precies wat ik zocht. Cheers😎🍻
Daar doen we het voor! 🍻
Awesome work!
Hi! I noticed that when i sync my alesis sr16 drum machine via midi with the TD3 there's a bit of latency on the TD3 sequence. Is there a solution for this problem? The sr16 doesn't have sync out only midi implementation. Thanks
Works fine here with the drumbrute sending midi. Do other devices have latency problems too when connected to the sr16? Do you connect the midi cable directly? Try finding settings for the sr16 and td-3 for latency on online fora. How much latency?
@@Argh0naut latency about quarter of a second but you'll notice it. When i connect the sr16 with the deepmind arpeggiator the syncing is perfect.
@@marcoagius6926 I suggest you contact Behringer or try to update something on the TD3 www.behringer.com/product.html?modelCode=P0DTD
@@Argh0naut okay thanks
Awesome paintings mate.
Thanks! Made one each day of october for the inktober challenge, two to go. Only filmed this one today.
Your intro remains me a track of «front 242»
🤙🤙🤙
I love it when people actually play these, don't just program them.
It is pretty playable, having some fun and surprising myself, learning along the way.
Cool challenge, and jam
Thanks for the video; Is it with midi not possible and where is the difference? Thanks
Midi is an option as well, the clock signal only syncs the bpm, with midi you can control more, but not from the rd9, so in this setup there would be no difference. I have a sequencer which I do connect though midi and set the note info. It is just one of the many ways to sync, so whatever Works best for you 😊
Simple but very good setup
It has improved quite a bit since then, as has the video quality 😆
Cool little jam, hope you are doing well in this heat.
Singing cool songs about polarbears might help to beat the heat 😆
Ha totally agree I just try to make music videos that entertains me I can't imagine the stress of trying to make a new video every day about any subject. But I do have respect for those that do
All of the team at LiveLoungeRecordings loved this Daan! If you have a minute, we would love if you would check out our latest LiveLounge session!
Hi Daan, I'm curious: what inspired you to make this video?
Not just one thing in particular. Just an accumulation of all things leading to algorithm trying to get me to watch the same kind of blend vanilla content, the explosion of 'compelling' thumbs. I guess it started when marketing took over the bloggosphere and suddenly everyone was abiding the 'rules' to make 'great' content. It is not something new. But it is getting to a point of no return if we do not rebel the algorithm. And I felt like making a video, been a while and I realy like making video's, it is a personal journey and a lot of room to grow :)
@@Argh0naut Well, I see your point. As a videocreator and someone who's been on youtube since 2007, I'm getting pretty fed up by the 'rules' myself. This week the algorithm was quite helpful though. I've been getting these videos in my feed of people who quit social media. After watching a couple of them over a couple of days, I decided the universe was trying to tell me something. (Maybe the universe uses some sort of algorithm as well.) So I put my Instagram-account on non-active. Just for a while to see how it feels.
@@Argh0naut thx man, is gelukt
Hi, thanx for this tutorial. what type of cable do you use to connect both machines? TS or TRS? Greetings from Chile
It is TS. I bought the Devine PATCH3535-RB-80cm patchkabel mono 3.5 mm 6-pack 80 cm to be specifc. But any TS would work okay I guess.
@@Argh0naut Thank you very much for your answer, I will look for that pack of cables
@@DJZeroz I have the 3.5 to 3.5 and the 3.5 to 6.35 cables. Always come in handy if you are patching the outputs to an external synth.
Just wanted to say Merry Christmas and happy new year, cheers for all the cool awesome entertaining videos this year.
Thanks for all the positive feedback, the best wishes to you too!
Interesting patch that sounds like its glitching out, and a cool little jam.
