Low Water Use and Drought Tolerant Grasses & Sedges
มุมมอง 60910 หลายเดือนก่อน
Simply put, using plants that are drought tolerant and have low water needs are smart choices. Drought tolerant plants do not need supplemental irrigation and can withstand periods of water scarcity and prolonged dry conditions (once established). Low water use plants have adapted to water scarcity, use water efficiently, and continue to look good in times of water scarcity (once established). ...

Let's Celebrate Earth Day with Grasses
มุมมอง 25ปีที่แล้ว
April 22 is Earth Day! One way to celebrate is to incorporate grasses and grass-like plants in your projects to invest in our planet and promote better living through plants. Using grasses, sedges and rushes help manage water, add ecological function, and enhance pollinator habitats. They help to stabilize soils to prevent erosion, increase infiltration, support wildlife, clean and filter storm...
Let's Talk Sedges
มุมมอง 344ปีที่แล้ว
There’s a lot to love about Carex. Commonly called sedges, they’re go-to plants for all kinds of projects. Our “sedge story” begins in 1991 when two unusual-looking Carex caught our eyes-Carex buchananii and C. muskingumensis. While grasses were still relatively unknown at the time, sedges were almost unheard of in the trade. But these additions spiced up our grass lineup with something new and...

Pennisetum x advena 'Rubrum' appeals to both inexperienced gardeners and seasoned grass enthusiasts. Folks new to grasses are attracted to its beautiful red-burgundy color, flowing foliage, and long bottlebrush plumes. Those more familiar with ornamental grasses love it because it is an easy- and fast-growing annual bedding plant with plenty of character. It is often used as a colorful specimen...
Plant Profile: Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Karl Foerster'
มุมมอง 1.4Kปีที่แล้ว
Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Karl Foerster' is one of the most popular and valued ornamental grass in the trade, with good reason. Versatile and easy to grow, it is one of the showiest, longest-blooming grasses we sell. Green foliage grows in a neat, 2-foot clump. In early spring, stalks rise up to 6 feet, capped with elongated, wheat-colored seed heads. Often used in his design, Dutch garden de...

How tall does this get ?
I need acorus gramneus ogon grass
Is this a no-mow grass? What's it's common name?
I just discovered this grad and bought one! The way it sways and looks like copper at times. Wish I bought more! I paired it with some gold tone/purpleish African daisy in a copper rectangle container! 🤎🧡💜
Very helpful. Thanks
Thank you Bill. I loved 'Blonde Ambition' and kept reading that it didn't do so well in humid environments. But I also kept seeing the straight species mentioned for use in the southeast so it was a little confusing until now.
I found that interesting, thought provoking and thoroughly enjoyable, thank you 🙂
Maybe native there but you need to remember that everyone is a special kind of special nowadays and you have to be specific and give more information because I definitely couldn't plant that here in Utah it would die out by the end of the year as well as kill my entire lawn and replace it with itself I personally would rather have Scottish moss or just any kind of moss as my yard especially if it's tight/strong enough to withstand kids and animals because they are here sometimes if you have a moss you'd recommend for that it would be cool
I have five purple grasses against my blue spruce trees for color …….three of them came back this year. It’s the end of July almost August and they’re solid green not a bit of purple or red foliage in any of the leaves …..what has happened to make them green ????? do I need to change something in the soil. ???? They are in full sun I live in Michigan they get 12 hours of sun every day.
*promo sm* 🙋
Sure wish y’all were retail. I want to buy larger quantities of carex you grown that i can’t ever find at retail in the triangle
How do you successfully burn without melting your plug trays?
Ah
Wonderful interview. Mr. Oudolf is always generous with providing information.
Do you provide any design advise? Suppose I give you the width and length of my garden bed, I need know the combination of grasses and other perennials I can plant together and as to what spacing. I am trying to plant grasses along the fence line . Already have rows on north winds as borders
What a charming idea! Hats off to Hoffman!
Lovely chat, thank you, very informative
Why can’t I find this at all in Germany and only in the US?
Just got some this! It's dormant. Can't wait til Spring!
