Can you explain what a booster is as I don't get what you showed? Thx!
@@Traumatree I see. Well the ‘booster’ was a very small single cylinder steam engine that was fitted under the cab, its use was to provide extra power. Mainly used at slower speed to help get trains moving. Thank you for your question. Hope you enjoyed.
love it! can not wait for more!!
@@KadenBarker-wt3dd why thank you!
Awesome video, will be watching an subscribing
@@johnblood3367 thank you, much appreciated mate!
This is a very interesting video, Cant wait for what you stored for the future
@@t.bfisher5855 Why that’s good to hear. Yes please stick around I’ve got another video being researched now. Thanks for your comment!
Corrections! I say the engine was designed by William Montgomery Sherman, but I actually meant to say Shannon. (More of a fumble really, mispronounced it) I quote the mileage of C10 as 1,160,845. As I'm sure you saw, it actually said 1,160,856. Incorrectly I say that ALL pre D class locomotives were built in the UK and USA. This is untrue however most were designed by the UK or USA.
Although based mostly on UK or US designs, before the Dd class, most VR locos were built by the Phoenix Foundry in Ballarat - Phoenix built around 360 locos for VR, as well as locos for a number of railway contractors.
@@ronwoods7778 I realise that now of course. I am practically a local of Ballarat and should’ve known. But thank you for your comment nonetheless!
Good video. Your channel deserves way more attention than it gets. I’ll admit I don’t know much about the O2s, but they do look fairly impressive. At least Heljan are doing an updated 00 model of the class.
@@joshslater2426 Thank you immensely! Your comment means a lot to me, and I appreciate what you’ve said. And yes, I just hope Heljan do it justice this time round. Thanks for watching sir, hope you have a pleasant day.
Top speed 48 1/2 mph. 7.8 miles per gallon. 48 gallon tank with range 374 miles. Hill climb 1 in 1.46 with stop and restart. I used one, liked it, I only wish they had soundproofed the cab, increased the air cylinders size, stronger brakes, more powerful engine and bigger lift crane.
@@stephen7571 Thank you very much for commenting. I only wish I could’ve had access to more solid research! Making your comment invaluable! Thank you very much!
Military and trains I think we have in common
Two excellent subjects to be interested in, thanks for watching! :)
hi there, i worked at AEC during the 70s when the mk3 militant was made, it was required that the vehicle must do 50mph, this was stipulated by the MOD, when the chassis cab was made it then went to Thornycroft for winch, top half of the cab was by Park Royal coachmakers, a heavy duty air cleaner behind the cab made by Burgess,
Hello, thanks for that information, as you might imagine there are precious few sources available. So your comment is vastly appreciated! thanks for watching. :)
@@-CorporalCharles06 I think I have other information, but would have to dig it out. This is from memory as recovery mechanics we had to learn vehicle info. Tractive effort was 12.3 tons or 12.5 tonnes. Winch was 7/8 diameter, 450 feet length, 390 feet working length. Winch put,was 15 tons, you could increase to 30 tons with snatch block.
