MAXX SLASH REVIEW - EVERYDAY GUY - Average RC Car Enthusiast Authentic Chat
A big "What's Up" to all the RC peeps out there who - like me - enjoy running, working on, modifying and annoying the neighbors and delighting the kids with all things RC. I am not a professional, only an enthusiast.
This video is a little late, even with the positive reviews, the hate and the in between... i had the first car sold here where I'm at, was anticipating it for awhile. Started making this video right after getting it then got sucked back into a crazy work schedule and finally was able to finish and upload this.
**DISCLAIMER**
1.) I do not know anyone at Traxxas.
2.) These are 100% my opinions only.
3.) I am not a video maker and only have created videos about RC Cars purely for enjoyment.
------------------------------------------
I've always found these types of hobbies satisfying in so many ways, beginning in the 80's... I started with the FIREFOX - as a kid i went absolutely nuts over the commercials and to my astonishment, i got it for Xmas when I was 10.
The RC Car stuff is awesome for kids in my opinion, as it leads to understanding mechanical things, and to using tools and grasping 3D concepts in the mind. Great hands on experience.
Cars in the RC Garage:
X-MAXX 8S
UDR
MAXX SLASH
SLASH 4x4 VXL
SLASH 2WD VXL
It's not a brand thing whatsoever, i enjoy wrenching on stuff, but the RC cars are the last on the list as far as what's important. Considering life, work, time etc, it's just super easy to run Traxxas RTR products as they really do make it easy to keep fresh and affordable. Full disclosure, I ran SC10's for years before taking a break from the hobby. Loved those things too!
As mentioned in the video, the main reason i felt like making a video to share publicly was all the negativity and hate i saw. It really just seemed silly so many people were being so negative and had so many bad things to say about a freakin' toy that for me, made me laugh super hard and really enjoy short breaks from work.
To that end, sure they all can be improved, fiddled with and adjusted. I have more stuff bolted on my favorite car, the 2WD SLASH than any of them. I really enjoy that thing the most. I like them all for a variety of reasons and they're all a bit different. Either way, for it's all about FUN... and i applaud Traxxas for providing mostly that.
Any of you guys out there that have channels and are making a living from TH-cam should really thank the internet gods for making all this stuff possible. Who woulda thought!?!?!

Make more vids 👐👐 super fun watching 🥳
Thank you Sir!! It's definitely something i want to do more of soon..... videos like the one you made here are great for me on the Apple TV:th-cam.com/video/xueQPyJEkW0/w-d-xo.html
I bought one bc of a promotion; $700 with 2 3s + charger. Good deal, except I’m really not super impressed. Yes 6s is too much, need to have better radio for adjustments, but also it rolls so easily, and very uncontrollable, which goes back to the radio. Still I’ve always had my eye on the udr, these are supposed to be the udr replacement, and I still can’t really justify why I have this car. 3s batteries for a car that should just run 4s. Now I need a 3s truck/car I guess. Any pointers or thoughts from anyone? To help me enjoy the maxx slash, more. Right now to me, it doesn’t seem like it can do much. Rather bought the maxx.
I still routinely beat on it. Still haven't broken anything but the steering saver is about done. Will upgrade that first and start researching and update the front suspension.. I still actually really like ripping it around my prepped dirt but In the desert it accumulates a lot of roost and rubble in the chassis and can get the steering locked up w/rocks & stuff. And man the UDR is really fun too but in different ways. I enjoy that on 4S too
Overpriced cars ! Spending $2000 Australian is way too much! Arrma notorious is half the cost and amazing to drive !!!
Hey right on man! I've been looking at the Arrma cars too.. To be clear about price though, i sell a roduct in AU and currently the cost of a MaxxSlash: 700.00 US Dollars = 1,073.79 Australian Dollars... just saying! I guess shipping and batteries etc too but still ;) Make a video of your car ripping around man!
Subscribed. You said what I think most of us were thinking in the beginning of the video.
Appreciate that Sir! Thanks for the feedback... Still pumped on all the comments on my first ever video. I'm still running the heck out of this truck and haven't broke anything yet... I will for sure do a metal gear servo soon, shocks and steel axles probably. The plastic ones haven't given me any trouble whatsoever but i will say all the trucks i put steel axles on last a LOT longer, and a lot less play/slop. Maxx Slash 6S rips IMO - still blasting this thing bone stock 4 months in
I have probably 15 runs or more on my maxx slash and haven't broke anything. I can't say that about most of my rc vehicles. I usually break a wing off immediately or break a bumper etc. on whatever RC I am running. It has been lawn darted, end over end crashes, barrel rolls and the only thing to happen is the body popped off a couple times in brutal crashes. Probably saved the body from breaking by popping off. It is a lot of fun for sure! Bought my second Mojave 6s this week because of the killer deals!! Just stating this before someone thinks i am a traxxas fanboy.
Nice. Sure does seem tougher than most. And out of the box sure feels easy to drive and control.. looking forward to getting it dialed with a few upgrades 🔧 this being my first real video, I’m really appreciating all the comments and it’s gonna be difficult not to look hard at some of these other cars 👀
Came for cars…stayed for kitties 🥰
Haha the Bengals get after that 1/18th in the house!! 🤣 I’ll have to get a few clips of that 🎦
Sweet! Love my Maxx Slash. I bought a Mojave after just to compare and like them both equally. Maxx Slash is much faster but the Mojave handles a tad better. Main thing is they make me smile and have fun and thats what its all about! I did do 60MPH on the stock gears on my channel and 70 with the optional gears. Just waiting on sway bars to arrive now!
DUUUUDE!! Holy cow! TBH it sure feels like it could do 60 pinned but that's so freakin' fast! The 1st two minutes after i got it i cartwheeled it and i was certain it was gonna jack it up, but nope.... thing has not hiccuped.. also not jumping 30 feet or anything either but... same... many laughs per dollar :) Def looking at some different cars at the shop soon... they are stocked over there the past year #nevergrowup
4s is awesome bro. I have a little dirt area not quite as nice as yours, but it’s a little bit more loose and I love it on for us just tooling around and figure it. There’s a big 20 foot jump. You hit I agree I think it’s a great truck very durable.. good video man I like your honest opinion you seem sincere.
Heck yea! I did run 4S also and it was like riding my 125 because you could ‘get away’ with more throttle but def more manageable ⚡️ 6S is like a Factory 450 🤣 (shout out to #ProMotocross season starting up tomorrow!! 🏁) So, Took off the wheelie bars, drooped the front and rear shocks all the way out, still running a lot of preload .. I discovered with the front suspension that I’m sure lots of other guys have found too.. the travel goes about 1/4 inch further after the chassis hits bottom… I realize this is probably for handling but that’s why it’s always bottoming >clunk< after I get time to make the shock mods/upgrades I’ll film some more laps and share my settings 🔧 I really dig this thing,..
Awesome vid. Comment and liking for the algo. Could you not just take the gear off the front end of the drive shaft to make it 2wd?
I said that in my original edit, but i removed it! HAHA - probably, but i think the weight bias....? Yeah? Either wy - I want ONE!!
And Thanks for the comment!! My first real edit 🎬 (for the algo ;) )
This is how i like to run my max slash.
I have had mine for a few weeks, and I love it. I don't understand all the hate for this RC. If you have the money...why not
Same - haven't legitimately broken anything so far!! 🙃
I totally get what you’re saying and I had the same feeling too UNTIL I recently got an Arrma Fireteam which retails for $650 and a Losi lasernut which retails for $540 . Once I got this car I understood the negativity towards traxxas. Traxxas cars aren’t bad cars but they’re just simply traxxas cars and you can feel it. I still love traxxas but they don’t drive like other brands unfortunately
@@ronaldoravelo6107 Holy crap BOTH those cars look dope!! I want that Lasernut rN haha Def not a brand junky here, it's literally just what my Nephew and I got when we started getting back into it around '18-'19 (Slashes), and the hobby shops had so many parts, but even they have lots of Arrma & Losi in stock & parts galore too now... our only issue is just b/c we don't race and have time to mod too too much, we liked that the batteries and all the crap works right away and we don't have to solder and wrench as much anymore but honestly you gotta thank Traxxas a little simply raising the customer support game, that it forced the other companies to step up as well... Def looking at these other cars the next time I go in there 👀 Thanks for sharing those 🖥
@@ronaldoravelo6107man I just bought a fireteam and I’m in love. Honestly thinking about buying a 2nd before arrma decides to discontinue it because u never know.
that fireteam does look sick... bet it probably mobs pretty hard! Gotta research that thing a bit. Been slammed & need to pull triggerrrrr
About time. Actually someone that understands that is all about fun
Thanks for the comment ☝ Every time i go to the hobby shop i'm blown away by all the choices now..
Awesome video! Agree with everything. Maxx Slash is my favorite truck by far. Absolutely love it! Lots of smiles per dollar. I don’t understand the hate.
Right?? Such good fun ⚡ And Thanks!
Great video, love the honest opinion on stuff and the running footage. Also your backyard-track looks dope af 👌💯. Have a good one and keep it up.
Thank you Bro! #trackprepper
Scroll to 3:15 to skip the boring monologue ;)
Nothing wrong with it dude! Totally relate to it.
@@michielpoortvliet3003hey thanks for saying so bro! Will get another one edited with upgrades and stuff 👍🏼
@@superartist271 Great video. Never felt bored👍🏻
@@spike-- much appreciated Spike 👍🏼🏁
Damn!
