Changing The Front Spindle '05 Ford Ranger
I drove for too long with a bad bearing so it melted to the spindle. Bought a new steering knuckle but none of the holes were tapped for bolts so I decided to just change the spindles out.

Had an issue with my transmission that wouldnt disengage all the way. tow truck driver had shifter in 1st and backed it steaply and quickly down a hill from his tow truck and my intake manifold exploded! it was nuts. so, since they dont make the manifold any more i had to take what was left off my truck and take another one off a salvage yard i got lucky finding in 30 degree weather.

    Great video, love the pipe and strap idea, thanks for sharing it. Getting ready to do filter change on my 2015 Silverado that is starting to slip out on gear. 1st gear doesn’t seem to work properly. Do you think adding a sea foam before removing the filter and oil would help with cleaning up ?

      @@johnpali5894 your welcome! Honestly I’ve never used sea foam in a transmission, just engines, so I cannot say for sure. I would guess no because when you change just the filter there is still a lot of fluid in the torque converter so you won’t get all the sea foam out with just a filter change.

    Hi mate. I have a 451 in the UK and have stripped her down to the Tridion cage to check everything and just touch up any spots that look like they're prone to rust. I then Waxoyled everything inside and below to protect against future corrosion. It was my wife's car and she passed away from a brain tumour last year so it will hopefully be my forever car in memory of her. Ignore the naysayers in the comments. I thought I knew the Smart 451 intimately but you made some very useful comments like the method of removing the airbox... great tip. Your videography is fine my friend, raw and not fancy but full of content just as I like it. I have one question. You clearly have mechanical talent, why did you not just rebuild the engine instead of getting a scrap yard one with presumably no history? Thanks again for your video and channel. Subscribed! ❤

Thanks for giving me encouragement, I was still shy about talking in my videos back then which is why its all crappy music lol I have since achieved more confidence and I do not use music anymore. I would like to do this again with much more detail sometime but who knows if that opportunity will rise again. I bet you get more rust where you are than I do here. I live in Arkansas. I did not rebuild the engine because this is my uncle's car and it was his choice to go this direction with it. Mainly a time issue. I do still have the engine and am thinking of rebuilding it someday. I just have a lot on my plate right now. I have a 3D Printing side business as well as a full time job now. Actually another channel also to make videos for so I am pretty much tapped out! lol www.youtube.com/@innovative3d76 The scrap yard I use is called LKQ and I have bought many transmissions and engines over my life and they are reliable. It was about the same cost of rebuilding it anyway lol. Thanks again for watching and subscribing! I wish you the best of luck in life! Take care mate!

      It is a big job!!! I have spent countless hours on it over 2 years but unfortunately the old man that owns and was funding it is in poor health and decided to stop work on it. I am very disappointed about it. It would have cost around 50,000 to complete this car and he could have just bought a running one for around 10-15 thousand but he wanted this restored because it was his high school car. It sat in a barn for 40 years before he started the restoration which is why it was going to cost so much to finish. The paint job would cost 20-25 thousand alone.

    not that it makes much difference but the factors nuts that holds sensors are a one time use, they are made out of a hardened lead with a slit in it, so when you tighten it down it spreads the nut slightly and holds on to stud, can be used one time correctly, tho you can reuse, but you wont have the holding concept of the nut.

    Why not use nails?

    • @jamesofalltrades479
      @jamesofalltrades479 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is nothing wrong with nails and we could have but we wanted a stronger connection because there is a lot of wind up on top of the hill where we built this. I’m sure nails would have been perfectly fine, just a personal choice. I’ll probably never do it again though lol took more time for sure!

      @@jamesofalltrades479 I was always under the impression that nails were stronger than screws. I asked about nails because I didn’t know anyone that framed with screws specifically because of sheer strength. Were you using some kind of structural screw?

      @@MrSpatia I know that nails have a sheer strength of 250lbs, not sure about screws. This is the first time I’ve used screws on a house. I build all my small building out of screws though like sheds, chicken coops, dog houses, stuff like that. You just need to make sure it is square when assembling because with screws, stuff doesn’t want to move after assembly. Just because of the time factor I will probably never use screws on a whole house again otherwise I feel like it’s stronger.

    Make sure you disconnect the positive lead on your battery before starting work. This prevents possible shorts.😊

    Does the plastic poison the food?

      Great question! As long as the plastic that your using wasn’t used for anything hazardous, you shouldn’t have any issues.
