It's Just Not Cricket with Rory Bremner (1997)
I’m SO glad I discovered how funny Henry Rollins is! I’ve always loved Black Flag but I think I’ve gotta find all his other works at this point now
One of the best series i have ever watched about allthe bands i grew up adoring. My parents have such an amazing record collection.
This was a recording in 768x576 SD. It wasn't even recorded in HD, nevermind 4K. This was 1990! It's standard SD. You can't put something there that isn't there in the first place. This show is too old to be recorded in the resolution format that you're suggesting.
It's uploaded at a higher resolution due to TH-cam bitrates. You can see how it would look by changing the quality to 480p. If TH-cam did not re-encode SD videos to such a low bitrate I would not upscale. Upscaling is the last step in my workflow, there are no other enhancements besides deinterlacing.
@@videodumpchannel - Whist I'm here do you have any episodes of Bottle Boys? It was an LWT comedy series in 1984-1985, if you have a large VHS collection. Or maybe Full House (the UK version by Thames)? :)
@@andrewsmith2757 I'll check, but I don't think we do I'm afraid!
@@videodumpchannel - I'd love to know what you have got. I'm willing to pay of course. How far back do they go?
I don't have a list of what we have left to upload, but everything will be uploaded eventually. :) I am not sure what our oldest video is but it seems to be around 1984.
Show me a better comedy trio that have done a series together
Rhapsody in Velcro.
she's a queen
Like being interviewed by your mum , I can vaguely remember Mavis from when I was much younger.
Peter Cook, one of the greatest comedians and satirists EVER. What he would have made of the General Election and the country in general today, would have been BITING and SPOT ON...as well as bloody FUNNY. God bless him.
I've seen better copies of this film, but not by much. It was recorded on 16mm, which is far less than it deserved considering the talent involved.
Who posted this...I will give you half my not inconsiderable wealth
Not long after this humphries did the dame Edna experience...it was the template for a lot of the spoof chat shows that were to follow
All I'm looking for is a little respect!
Underated classic
This is the most hilarious interview ever, Splke is/was the most intelligent comedic writer/performers ever! No one could ever come close to him!
These are like pristine copies, thanks for the upload. ❤
They really hammed up the "Intestines" skit. I'm sure I heard it done with Charles Haughtry and Cleese somewhere. On Radio Un-nameable, perhaps.
48:24 idk I think Linda Robson was in the audience or not maybe she time travelled 🧳
You really do get amazing VHS captures. Do you mind if I ask about the hardware used to grab the RF signal? Can any of it be bought off-the-shelf and ready to use, or is it all DIY? I've been thinking about trying the RF route myself.
Thank you! It's mostly DIY as I don't think there is anyone selling pre-modded VCRs, it also depends what capture device you'll be using. This would be a good place to start: github.com/oyvindln/vhs-decode/wiki/CX-Cards github.com/oyvindln/vhs-decode/wiki/Clockgen-Mod If you have any questions the discord should be able to help, or I can try answer them. 🙂
@@videodumpchannel Thanks very much for that - trying to figure this out is all a bit overwhelming, to be honest. How difficult a process is all the required modding for a relative beginner? This is definitely how I'd love to start capturing tapes, but I'm trying to justify to myself whether the effort and learning curve to make the switch is worth it or not.
It depends how confident you are with a soldering iron. It is possible to do this without any modding/soldering with the right VCR and a relatively expensive capture device. (DdD/MISRC) I think it's a fun hobby but still very much work in progress. The decoding process is not real time and quite slow, and the storage required to turn a capture into a video is quite large. I'd probably not recommend switching your workflow to it but I do think it's worth trying out. Captures made today can be used with future versions of the decode software, so archiving important captures may be worthwhile to you. :)
@@videodumpchannel Thanks again for your help - I've been trying to read up on the subject, and it's looking more and more like this is out of my league, unfortunately. Storage space and encoding time aren't an issue as I've been doing mad things with lossless video for years, but hardware-wise I don't think I'm up to it. I was really hoping there'd be a pre-made device that can capture (1) in Windows (2) via USB (3) from an unmodded VCR, but unless I've been reading incorrectly, no such hardware fits all three criteria at the moment. (Or does it? I think two out of three is the best.) If such a device ever does exist, I'm still keen to give it a try one day. I also wouldn't mind trying some teletext recovery while I'm at it...
@@VideotapeFTW That's understandable! All 3 of those requirements can be met already, but it's never that simple... :) There are a few people using DdD (USB device) + Sony VCRs that require no modding, but they use Linux as there are some unresolved issues with capturing on Windows. I don't know what the current state of MISRC is as there are few with the device. I've never touched Teletext stuff but github.com/oyvindln/vhs-decode/wiki/Teletext has some info on it.
Im 68 now in 2024 and I didn't appreciate Spike fully until now. What a really wonderful man he was.
What happened at the end of the East German story?
coming back decades later to check if they really were in that cupboard - or was my memory playing tricks on me? they were!
6:50 "Shaddap Mavis!" ha ha. Mavis Nicholson's interviews were always so polite and charming.
Very worthwhile to read the massive book 'One Leg Too Few' before watching this. A lot of what they say here has so much else between the lines and explains there ums and ahs and frowns.
24:16 To be honest, they were repeating themselves, the Money Programme sketch, despite being one of my favourites is very much a re-write of the Lumberjack sketch, even in the way Eric yells out the different currencies, in the same style as Palin's tree types.
Massive respect to all three
Johnathan ross is completely insufferable. I cannot stand him

Robert Morley’s book ‘The Pleasures of Age’ is a great favourite of mine. I never realised he was a keen Labour supporter, because he is a crashing snob in his book 😂
Amazing...DeFreitas took on Cook and had the horn
Wogan was such a tit.
Nothing about his relationship with Orton. Strange.
you can call the kremlin in Stains, France. They will gladly take your call.
Astounding!
I was looking for this for a long time. Thank goodness, someone uploaded this.
Michael Sheen did a better Kenneth Williams than Kenneth Williams
That's funny, Spikes Mum Mrs Mulligan was a good friend of my Mum.I was the tea lady😅
I just LOVED the Barry McKenzie films - gold.
Even older...bit worn out and slower he nonetheless could still pull out the ole talent and nonsense! Love how he lets it all hang out...plugging items 😂
What a duo loved me some Cook...Moore was able to pull of the impossible by conquering the US! Cook and Moore together is like having George Carlin and Tim Conway as a duo! It couldn't work on paper but it did!
Mavis was a complete pain in the arse. Constantly talking over both Pete and Dud.
Didn't know this show existed till earlier this morning
I love Harry Enfield's voices, he seems to do a bit of an Alan Bennett for Tom, and a Kenneth Williams for Hedley Smedley-Smythe.
Love Spike! Brilliant! Hilarious!
I still remember him. British films had been quite popular for many years of my young days. His expression has been a bit over exacturated, with such strong British accent.
I loved Kenith Williams from the age of 4 watching "Wisp In The Willows" he played a sprite type of narrator and I think all the characters he was brilliant in everything he. Was in😁
It was Willow the Wisp.
wonderful
Lol rolf Harris bet no one saw that shit show coming
