What Happens When You REFUSE to Give Up on Your Dreams?
What if the toughest battles aren’t fought in stadiums, but in the shadows of a broken childhood?
In this profoundly moving episode, Fatima Whitbread shares a story that goes far beyond athletic triumph-it’s one of survival, courage, and an unyielding spirit.
Born into abandonment and forced to navigate the brutal realities of the care system, Fatima’s early years were a battle against neglect, trauma, and profound loneliness. But from the ashes of her childhood emerged something remarkable: an iron will and a resilience that would not be crushed.
Fatima opens up about the inner demons she faced, the darkness that nearly consumed her, and the life-changing influence of two incredible women-Auntie Ray and, later, Margaret Whitbread-who gave her the family she never knew. This isn’t just a sports story; it’s a testament to the power of the human spirit. It’s about how, when pushed to the edge, we can rise not only for ourselves but for those generations who follow.
From setting world records to standing on countless podiums and becoming a world champion, Fatima reflects on her greatest battles, which were not fought on the athletic field but within herself and traumas faced. Today, through her advocacy, she’s using her platform to champion the rights of children in the care system-children, like her, who deserve a chance to rewrite their own stories.

We are all desperate for change but the idea that Labour are going to deliver it is laughable. Labour are bought and paid for just the same as the Conservatives, on the big issues they are no different that is why Kir Starmer betrayed the NHS workers and the British public when he whipped Labour into supporting the vaccine mandates. If it hadn't been for Dr Steve James and the NHS1000K they would have mandate the gene therapy for the rest of us too. I won't be voting Tory but I will NEVER vote that spineless Starmer nor any other WEF puppet. Two cheeks of the same rotten disease infested ar*ehole, voting in this fake democracy only legitimising the theatre, and we should refuse until they present us with an actual choice that would benefit us. That said, nice interview Pete 👍

One of the best interviews because you got a lot insight into things that matter. You could get Mark Kern next, or Mark Darrah that has a youtube channel. Edmund McMillan seems to go in a lot of podcasts and he would be good fit. Maybe John Romero, and Brenda Romero later (but I know she charges for interviews, IDK about him). Many many other devs you could get of course, but I will probably stop here.

A man, who shaped the genre in the way we all know it, a man who modernized western RPG after Ultima and Wizardry to make them more player-friendly, but remained the mechanical complexety and depth.
