How to Replace the Battery on a Garmin Forerunner 225 Watch
This video shows it is indeed possible to replace the battery on a Garmin GPS watch, and explains in detail how I did it. Save money and make your watch as good as new!

    Fine video. I tried to repair my watch and followed the instruction carefully. When I switch the watch on the screen was almost dark and unreadble. The functions buttoms was not corresponding to the privios one . I had dismantled the watch before I had ordered a new battery. Maybe if it have been dismantled for one or two weeks the program had been damaged or destoyed. I think no cure is realistic.

    Awesome video thanks so much! Worked like a charm! Toughest part was to strip/ solder the microscopic battery wires on. My eyes are still bleeding but super stoked about my watch working like new again.🎉🎉

    That was really helpful. Thank you. It's great when people keep stuff going long after the manufacturer would hope you would replace it.

    Love seeing these videos. I replaced a battery for an Ultimate Ears Speaker which was very similar though not as fiddly as the pesky watch. What you come to realise is just how unsophisticated the parts assembly is for such highly branded, high cost products.

    This is why I have decided not to buy a Garmin watch. Had the Forerunner 965 in my basket and thought what a ridiculous idea to spend $800 CDN and have the battery die 4 or so years later and be in this position.

      It’s an easy replacement as the batteries can be easily bought and as shown it’s easy to do.

    You should cut the new Li-ion cell wires ONE AT A TIME because when you cut through them both with one squeeze you were shorting them together through the tool edges. While this short lasts for just a moment, it is still a bad idea. If you tried doing that with an actual "battery" of higher voltage (say a 10S 42V battery) you might do some serious damage to your tool, and it won't do the battery any good either.

    Great video, thanks for all good tips. When cutting batteri cables, do them individually so you dont short circuit the battery.

    Hi... Do you know how to fix no GPS signal on this device?

    • @joeldey
      @joeldey ปีที่แล้ว

      If the GPS radio has a hardware failure then you're likely looking at a replacement. But it's possible it's just a software problem. So I would try a factory reset of the watch. That was pretty risky. I watched it like a thriller. Normally you never should work with conductive instruments inside electronics with battary pluged in. One touch in wrong place and your divice is broken. You should use plastic tweezers, nails or something similar (at least put some tape on your tweezers tips) while electronics are connected to power (even if device is turned off). Also you should be super careful not to touch new battery wires to random parts of pcb - that have big chance to fry the electronics. Best workaround I can think of is to glue battary in place then strip only one wire just a bit and solder it on place, then with double care do it with other wire. I would say it's a luck your device ended up alive tbh :) Well done, but please be more careful next time!
