Another female singer you should out is Pat Benatar. Her songs Promises in the Dark, All Fired Up and Hell is for Children are incredible. She has a Huge catalog of songs to go through. Her husband of 40 + years is her guitarist. They’re incredibly talented.

This song was originally written by Bonnie Bramlett and Leon Russell. The Carpenters did not write all their music. Brother Richard chose songs that would fit Karen's beautiful vocals. The version you played while very nice seemed a little higher toned than the original off the Carpenters cream album. Still a great song!

You’re right 2 Pac made a reference to this song. “We might wobble but we wont fall down. We take the gospel from Makaveli, pass it around” Not sure if you seen Bad Boys 4 with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence but they referenced this song in the movie. Look up the Big Bad Wolf scene if you haven’t seen it. Peter Piper is a classic.

Karen Carpenter sings to your heart and touches your soul. This song was never released as a single. One of their best. You can't go wrong with Superstar, Rainy Days and Mondays, Solitaire, etc. She is the greatest female singer of my lifetime. Her brother Richard was a genius for picking the songs and doing all the arrangements. She can make grown men cry!

This is from her solo album that Richard did not care for and wouldn't release for years. The Carpenters (as a group) rearranged this song and released it on their final album before Karen passed away. The rearranged version is better than this one. You might want to try the last song she ever recorded: "Now".

The lyrics were written by Leon Russell. They are superb and heartfelt. But no one brings them to life like Karen Carpenter, not even the man who wrote them.
