@@im_incogniiii Joining the genocide was Chara's choice, however. He did it for the power. At the same time, you can kill as many monsters as you want in neutral, and it won't affect Chara like that. Conclusion: it was a choice to behave like this.

@@justauser6078 I think there is a slight choice that Chara makes in the Genocide route but I fully believe it’s because of manipulation and corruption; therefore Chara is still a victim to me. Chara was just a kid when they died and they committed suicide as well, and they have some sort of thing against humanity, but the monsters did nothing and I don’t believe Chara would go after the only family they had without a heavy reason.

@@im_incogniiii Corruption: Chara starts looking for knives and saying bad things about monsters already at LV 3, which is a very low level and can be achieved on a neutral path with ease. No matter how much LV you have on the neutral path, Chara will not start behaving in the same way as on the path of Genocide, which indicates the choice of such behavior. Manipulation: * We didn't manipulate Chara, we didn't even speak to Chara. Chara just watching us and came to their own conclusions. We aren't even doing this for power, we're doing it for curiosity. Chara is in a familiar place with an unfamiliar person so it really doesn't make sense for Chara to put their faith in us, especially when Papyrus actively offers Chara/Frisk guidance and Chara rejects it, calling him "forgettable". We even have another character in Deltarune who mimics Chara much more closely, Spamton. They even tell us how many Darkeners are left. Spamton sees the player kill and then decides to help for his own selfish agenda. There are many differences of course but overall Chara is more similar to Spamton. After his death, Chara is soulless and probably feels betrayed by Asriel, whom Chara trusted (not that Chara didn't put pressure on him to agree, so Asriel had every right but explain this to someone who, because of a few hunans in the village, hated all of humanity very much). So I don't see any problem for Chara to join in killing them for the power he likes. Chara has always been disposed to resolve issues by violence. For whatever reason.

@@justauser6078 Chara, unlike Spamton, is a child. They died as a kid to save the monsters and then another human fell and they are either stuck with us or watching us. Children are easily manipulated by things they see and are very observant despite what people think. Kids pick up on the behaviors of the people around them and tend to copy them. We, the players, influence a child as we go through the genocide route AND the neutral route. Chara’s behavior centers around us. If we are neutral, they are neutral and say things about the monsters but they don’t do the same as the genocide route and even in the pacifist route they follow our lead and are kind, and this act is shown in the mirror scene in the New Home where they say “It’s still you”. Chara’s behavior is based all around our actions showing that we are influencing, hence manipulating in a way even if we don’t mean to, Chara. Corruption does not mean all that storybook nonsense though she does get physically “corrupt” looking. What I mean is that a child being easily influenced will tend to then become a corrupt version of themselves as they follow the patterns they see. It’s the same reason kids who are abused growing up tend to become abusers. This doesn’t mean Chara did not have a choice, everyone has a choice to break patterns and such. BUT they are still a victim in the process. You can be a victim while still being in the wrong. Victims can’t be placed into a box of “This Is A Victim”. People react differently to trauma or when they see horrible behaviors in people around them. Sure, Chara is not considered “close” to the player but they are there for the entire journey even if we don't know for sure why and so they see everything and they remember the resets just as much as us (this is shown if you do a genocide route and then a pacifist route after I believe). Also, Chara is not soulless. They ARE a soul. If they weren’t, they would not be around. It’s even said in the game that human souls tend to stick around after death, and even after the other souls are consumed by Flowery they are still around so despite Asriel taking their soul the first time, they are still around. People think they are a demon simply because of their form at the end of the genocide route, but that would make no sense for the pacifist route where they are just following us around and not even pushing us to do anything. If they were the demon as they suggested, then wouldn't chars tell you to kill no matter the route? Chara wasn’t a good person, but they were a victim. Chara was a kid with some bad thoughts toward humans and was pressured a lot but Asriel hints that they didn't fall on accident down the mountain and they did technically commit suicide when they ate the flowers and they tried to do it to save people. Chara was misguided in how to help and did what they thought would be right. Which is usually how it goes.
