Turtle Beach Velocity One Flight Deck First Look

I received my Flight Deck from Turtle Beach today and thought I'd share my thoughts on it.
Do you use this for Star Citizen?
No, I use Virpil controls
Buy a rig
Excelente 👏
Nice review , I'm 65 and I too have a warthog hotas but I find it a chore sometimes because moving the stick is like arm wrestling Arnold Schwarzenegger. I like your video as it answered a few questions I had about swapping gear.
Max Rev is short for Max Reverse. While not every plane offers reverse thrust, that indicator is there for those that do.
Looks like another painted pony trying to masquerade as high end hardware
Thanks for the overview! Im kinda amazed that, even though I have looked at this a few times, nowhere have they really hinted how customisable the screen is. I am likely going to replace my X56 with this. Its almost like its living up to the X52 promised it would be.
so not worth it, i wanted to like it so bad
This is a great video. Does this joystick have a twist rudder function?
Yes, it does.
during the hardware test is your throttle on the movement of the lower part (50%) in slow placement precise or does it vibrate? Is the HUD Nav button on your joystick backlit? can you start the timer on the joystick screen? THANKS
I'm very keen to see how these first units do, I just got back into sim flying and I'm still using a Saitek X45 that I had when I was a teenager. Needless to say this is looking like the perfect replacement.
Why would you use a portrait mode video for a TH-cam upload?!
Bro maping this to the planes on dcs is a pain in the ass for a first timer
If I may add still a pain in the ass for sure and I don't know why but my throttle and stick switched location on top rocker and now I have to restart
But the best experience I've ever had 💯
I just got done reading the first few buyer off Amazon that left reviews.. Not looking to good as far as QC. Several of the new owners are experiencing knobs/buttons not working and ghost inputs similar to when the Saitek X55 and X56 released. This is also NOT compatible with ANY rudder pedals including the Turtle Beach pedals.. That's per a tech at Turtle Beach. Having said all of that, I would really like to try one out but you early adaptors are going to have to play guinea pig for me lol!
Thanks from New York! This new HOTAS caught my eye for the first time today and it looks like my old X-52 Pro (which is still going strong) on steroids. Does the product have a nice weighty feel like quality should feel like? If so I'm definitely in. $400USD would be about right, X-52 wasn't inexpensive either but it's given me many years of faithful service. Thanks again and happy flying.
Max Reverse, Idle Reverse, Flight Idle, Max...
hey, i got mine yesterday and i'm noticing an issue and wanted to know if yours has the same - when i move the stick to the right and yaw to the right at the same time or maybe a little afterward, i'm noticing in the hardware tester AND in windows game controller readouts that the yaw signal gets STUCK or FROZEN.... sometimes, when i get the stick all the way to the right, the yaw signal will suddenly read again and jump to where it's supposed to. but it will frequently get stuck like this. i'm not experiencing any issues with moving the stick to the left and yawing left. it's only yawing to the right. and also, the yaw to the right will frequently get stuck while i'm moving the stick in the other directions as well. hopefully you don't have the issue but if you do, it might be a mass problem that TB will have to sort out. thanks.
There's some quality control issues for sure, at least with this first round. The scroll wheel on the back of the throttle doesn't work for me, regardless if it's set as digital or analog. One of the dials on the throttle doesn't activate when turning it to the right. And the button on the back of the stick randomly activates itself and the pinky switch at the same time. As you said in a previous comment, not being able to change the keybinds on the screen makes it completely useless. The viewing angles on the screen suck as well. You pretty much have to be looking straight down at the screen to be able to properly see it. Seems like something they shoehorned in to look extra techie. But it's a miss... I know now why there were no review copies sent out prior to release.
What did you expect from turtle beach 😂 especially at only $400
Hello, at the moment I am quite disappointed because the left throttle trigger does not work. And when they are paired the throttle does not work, only the right throttle trigger works. I am very disappointed, I am thinking of sending it back and getting a refund...
It was all good till you said it has a rubberized coating, which means in a year/few it will get sticky.
Not necessarily. Depends on the type.
I don't doubt it's good, but I'm Skeptical that it'll be a long lasting product.
Does it have built in rudder twist?
Yes it does
Does it have an analog thumbstick? That's a must have for Elite.
I score it 6/10. I dont recommended it for the price. It may improve with software updates in future.
Posting this Feb 14, 2024. I received mine two days ago and was able to download both the Velocity One Flight Hangar app and the Turtle Beach Control Center app. The Control Center app doesn't support the Flight Deck just yet, and the Flight Hangar app isn't very intuitive. I plan on using this to replace my old Saitek X52 Pro in MSFS2020. However, so far there's no profile that I can import into MSFS that either recognizes this as a Velocity One Flight Deck controller or has a preset profile for use in MSFS. I spent some time yesterday trying to build a manual profile, but once again, it's not very intuitive or easy without direct MSFS support from Turtle Beach. I sent a support request to Turtle Beach two days ago and haven't heard back yet. I plan on trying an online chat with their product support team, so we'll see how that goes. My initial take on the hardware is that it's fantastic. However, without software compatibility, it's just a very expensive paper weight.
I'm going to be replacing my X-52 Pro with this as well.

Does it have screws under it and how many
these look amazing! thanks for the vid!
yeah going from a warhog to this crap..... because of the screen which is useless
How do you know it is crap? It blows my mind how people can be so negative about something they have not experienced. This comment adds nothing to the video at all
How's the base of the flight stick? Is it heavy enough that when you flying the base won't be lifting off the desk... Big flaw on TB first hotas
Excellent question, My X-52 Pro is pretty weighty with good flat rubber circles to prevent them from moving around but if this controller is quality like that, it's definitely a worthy successor.
The software is under the Support & Downloads area of the product page. It actually takes you to the Microsoft Store to download. Already downloaded it, and mine will be here end of this week. Hope it is good. Won't know till I get it for sure.
Please report back. I want to plunk down for one right now.
I will buy it if it goes under 350
What 25 quid less 😂
IS there any detent on the Throttle ?
no
@@gashbag6464 thanks, that seems to be a huge oversite on there part then.
there are haptic zones you can set up not quite as nice but still tactile
Wanted to know if you were able to get the firmware updates my throttle updated just fine but have been crashing every time I attempt to do so with my Joystick
Have you got a link for the Hangar App PC software? day of release and still cant find it!
I do not understand why they didn't push these out to reviewers. This is a perfect model to replace the x52 pro/ x56, IF it works well. Pricepount is perfect before you get to big money, but it has to work well
Ditto that! I have an X-52 Pro and this looks like it should be it's successor on steroids. Yeah the price sounds about right for a quality HOTAS, I like the display too.
Its not really a "replacement" for those models at double the price.
What's the system you have In the middle?
Stream deck, great buttons to customise functions (games etc)
It seems to have disappeared from Argos online?
Do the cables connect to a box or is it 2 usbs to the pc?
It is two USBs to PC
Very useful. Thanks. Pending delivery of mine. Picked up the matching pedals from Argos as they are in clearance. I may even reinstall Elite. 🙃
So surprised after all the hype of the Yoke, that nothings come out for this - no early review units to reviewers (unless embargo lifts today/tomorrow). Thanks for showing a quick look round the unit - holding out for more reviews before buying. Really hope that screen refresh gets improved!!
I bought the Turtle Beach VelocityOne Flight stick for my Nephew and I was blown away by the build quality, packaging and functionality of a $130usd controller, If this Flight Deck has the same build quality, its totally worth the $400 USD.
Can confirm that the touchscreen refresh rate was fixed in the firmware update. Very responsive now! (Decided to take the plunge!)
Where did you buy it from please?
very.co.uk
Can on there website lol
Please give update once you get the software. I really am interested, but the complete lack of information from TB on the actual hardware is concerning.
I posted this on their FB ad. "I've got it. Don't get excited. The screen has preselected keybinds Q-F on the keyboard (think it's F) anyway. These can't be changed, only the style of button/roller. So if you don't have anything bound to these keys, then it's useless. There's other bugs including naming the panel "Elite Dangerous" comes out as Elite Dangerous1gi - weird. Also profiles on your hotas do not switch with games, you have to load them manually through the flight hangar app, which doesn't load with windows despite clicking the box "start with windows" It's a solid 6/10 for me. It may improve with software fixes in future."
@@gashbag6464 Thanks...yea, a few peeps on the discord are having a melt down over how horrid the software is. I find it hard to understand how a simple and free/cheap app like TOUCH PORTAL (which came out many years ago) can be many times more advanced than a $400 HOTAS from a huge company. ---Perhaps you can get you $$$ back if your not happy
