Lye and Alkali are not the same thing, there are many alkalis that are not called lye.

Rambling confusing

Once the soap has completely cured to the proper Ph there is no longer any active lye remaining. It performs the chemical reaction (saponification) with the fats but is not an actual ingredient in the final soap. Glycerin is a byproduct of the process, without lye there would be no glycerin . Any melt and pour base was made using lye. There may be other ways to produce a skin cleansing agent but it won’t be “soap” without lye.

Only problem I have with this is the anti persperant. I sweat lot and after a while I can smell the B.O itll also leak down my arm as well but other than that it works

You need a lot of ashes to produce saponification reaction.

I LOVE the summer citrus deoderant! Hands down my favorite and I'm a female. I can't stop taking off the lid to smell it. I don't know about the soap but i'm very drawn to the deoderant. It doesn't smell like pine sol to me .

Excellent video! I'd like to recommend Glenn Ave. Soap Company based in Columbus, OH. They aren't enough words for how awesome and natural their products are. Can I also ask if you know what the mintiest soap is? The one with the real deal tingling sensation? Something where that peppermint just does its thing. Don't make me laugh with Dr. Bronner's. Is it J.D.'s Viking Peppermint? I don't just want it to tingle, I want that peppermint scent to last.

I feel like it semantics to say that detergent is not soap. It's true but if you can wash with it and make it into a bar they are pretty much the same.

Their customer service is a JOKE! WAS a customer for several months. My last 2 transactions were a disaster and when I inquired, it took several days for the first response no one ever responded on the second one. A day AFTER it was finally delivered they sent me tracking info! I realize people make mistakes but you have to own it and fix it..they didn't. Go humor yourself and try to find a ''contact us'' link on their site...they don't have one (at the time of this post). They make you dig to get their contact info so they don't have to deal with you. Dapper Yankee, The Black Stuff and Grizzly Naturals have better soaps and GREAT customer service. Shame on you Sudsy Bear!

I have been having a reaction to the Duke Cannon “Gun Smoke” type bar. I’ve isolated it down to this soap. I am not a guy that has reactions to anything I am pretty much down for whatever and don’t have many issues. This however is messing my skin upppppp.

The scents are wildly different and i really like squatchs scent but their quality continues to dip. Last 2 bars I got smell like cheap lye based soap with a splash of citrus/pine. Sudsy for the win.

this is false advertisment. melt and pour has lye. read the back. as a matter of fact i will give it to you myself unless you use baking soda and in this case you arent. Ingredients: Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Purified Water, Glycerine, Sorbitol, Sodium Hydroxide, Titanium Dioxide. Net weight: 1kg per block. for those who dont know sodium hydroxide is lye, second titanuim dioxide is also another chemical that with prolong uses can and will make your senior skin itchy. i admire all of those who think you are educating with out the lye, but you must educate on the thnigss melt and pour really have and what the prolong use of it is. to be honest you arent really making soap because it is already made, you are just remelting the soap to make a different design from the original white or clear block.

Started using this bar of soap as shampoo!! its so nice, cleans very well and lathers AMAZINGLY.

I do feel as if this video was very misleading for people who are learning but I don’t think it was intentional. It is possible to make soap without sodium or potassium hydroxide but lye is an umbrella term used to describe multiple things that all do the same job in the soap making process. You need lye of some sort to make soap but it doesn’t have to be the same lye that other soap companies use. There are substitutes.
