      Believe me, it wasn’t just about pink, blue, or green 🙈 Before every departure, we had an Image and Uniform officer who ensured we met strict grooming standards. If anything was off, they would stop you and expect it to be corrected before your next flight. They were incredibly particular, especially with blond crew members, often scrutinizing the exact shade of their hair. For example, a friend of mine, who had naturally highlighted hair, was stopped and told to dye it because they assumed her highlights weren’t natural. She had to fight to prove otherwise. The Image and Uniform standards at Emirates were no joke. I even dyed my hair back to my natural black before joining to avoid any issues😬 During training, there was a girl with dyed red hair who was asked to return to her natural color, even though her dyed hair looked very natural to me. So, they are really picky 🙈

People in Canada like to put Winnipeg down but I regard it as a hidden gem and Canada's best kept secret for a wonderful place to live. Yes, colder weather than other places but also warmer people. If you’re able to contact Emirates or the third-party hiring company to reschedule your assessment day for December, that would be the best option. They definitely won’t blacklist you, but I’m not sure if it might affect getting an invitation to another assessment day. If it does, you can always try attending an Open Day instead, as no invitation is needed for that😊 Best of luck 🍀

    Why didn't your husband apply for the Emirates Pilot Cadet Academy? Is this just reserved for Emiratis ONLY?

    • @JetstreamGinger
      @JetstreamGinger 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The Emirates Flight Training Academy program is two years long and costs over $180,000, which is pretty expensive. You graduate with around 250 flight hours, but here’s the catch: only Emiratis get direct entry into pilot positions with Emirates after finishing the program. For international students, you need at least 2,000 flight hours to even apply, so you’ll still have to build up your hours somewhere else after graduating. My personal opinion, for international students, it’s just not worth it. You pay a lot and still don’t get a guaranteed job with Emirates. For example, Air Arabia Cadet Program do offer job opportunities after graduation, even for internationals. But they’re also really expensive, so we decided to go with something more affordable 😁

      Whether it’s an Open Day or Assessment Day usually depends more on the location than the time of year. For example, Dubai only has Assessment Days, and it’s the same for Philippines or India, for example. In Europe, though, it’s mostly Open Days. I actually counted the upcoming events out of curiosity-there are 82 Open Days, 55 Assessment Days, plus weekly Assessment Days in Dubai until the end of the year. They hold a lot of recruitment events every month, and the numbers are pretty evenly spread)) So no need to way for January 😁

    The South African license is as good as any other license in the world. I indeed hold one and fully converted it to a Canadian license effortlessly

    • @JetstreamGinger
      @JetstreamGinger 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Canadian pilot licenses are much closer to EASA standards, so the conversion process is way easier and less expensive compared to a South African license. For us, that was a big deal since we plan to move back to Europe someday, and we wanted a path that made the transition smoother and opened more international opportunities. It’s also much simpler to convert to an American (FAA) license because Canadian licenses follow similar standards, requiring fewer exams or adjustments. I’m not saying the South African license is bad or that it’s impossible to fly with it. The key point is that you’ll need to convert it to the license of the region where you want to work (Europe, US, Canada, Asia, etc.), and that process can be quite expensive, so it’s definitely less affordable overall. That’s why we chose to go straight for the Canadian license-there’s no need to convert it to start looking for a job in Canada, and if we decide to move in the future, the conversion to a European or US license will be faster and less expensive))

    • @JetstreamGinger
      @JetstreamGinger 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey, thanks😊 My husband is 27 now. Being a pilot is a well-paid job, but getting there takes time. To land a job with a big airline, you need to build up hours first and that process is long and definitely not glamorous 😂 I’d say go for it if it’s truly your dream and passion. If you’re just after the money, you can easily earn the same (or even more) in marketing if you become a top specialist. But if you’re like my husband, who’s dreamed of being a pilot since childhood, worked hard just to save up for the license, and is ready to start with a small airline and a modest salary to build hours, then yes, follow that dream😁 Good luck with whatever path you choose🫶🍀

      I love your comparison analysis video between countries to become a pilot. I live in Quebec Montreal, and I’ve been thinking to become a pilot here. I applied for Emirates the first time a year ago, and had to travel 3 hours to get there. It was good and I was excited but when I got rejected, I got really upset. The 2nd time was last July and I made it to the final interview when I didn’t expect it!! Got really excited and still got rejected. Applied for a third time and got eliminated from the 2nd group activity. Applied 2 days ago and the assessment is in a few hours and I got an invitation and I suddenly decided that I’m not going. I’m not sure anymore if it’s worth chasing or if this career is worth all of the hassle. I personally want to travel soooo bad! But looking at the technics of the airline’s recruitment process, it’s all making me feel eerie and I feel something is off which made me unsure if I still want this career or not or is it even that boujee lifestyle and that insane amount of money worth all that or not. I feel like I’m heavily influenced by how they want all of us to perceive the cabin crew life which made me chase it that hard when in reality it’s tough and worth a huge cost of the human side. That’s why they’re consistently hiring. I hate how they’re constantly playing with your nerves and put you on a rollercoaster in the hiring process so I can’t imagine how it is like inside the actual job!

      @JetstreamGinger 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@scwappycoco I explained in the video why we didn’t choose the US. As you mentioned, in the US, obtaining an ATP is required to enter commercial aviation, which means you need to work as a flight instructor for quite some time to build up the hours needed for an ATP. In Canada, however, you can work as a First Officer with just a CPL, as only Captains are required to have an ATPL. This allows you to build your hours while already working as a First Officer. We chose Winnipeg because it has few small regional airlines flying to the North that hire pilots with as few as 250 hours. In fact, our friend works for one of these airlines and was hired with that amount of experience. Of course, we’re realistic and understand that no one gets hired by Air Canada or WestJet with just 250 hours. @@JetstreamGinger I see your point. Its just that ATP program in USA is fast vs doing it in Canada takes more than 2 years even if you are doing it full time. He can finish everything in 8 months in US, convert his license FAA to TC and work in Canada. Unless you dont have a Canadian passport, do consider US. All the best to your husband. Just out of curiosity, would he want to work in a major airline in Canada or once he gets the relevant experience, apply to one of the airlines in middle east? The compensation is very good in Middle east compared to Canada for pilots. Also since there are no videos on youtube on pilot life and schedules in Emirates, would you care to give me some info regarding that. What was the general mood amongst pilots when you spoke to them. Were they happy and wanted to make a career out of Emirates? Looking forward to your answer. Maybe even a video on that topic!😃

    Hii,I saw a video that said, besides the English tests during the interviews here, once approved, there are more English tests in Dubai to prove we are fluent in the language. Is that true?

    • @JetstreamGinger
      @JetstreamGinger 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@nataliaveronica8756 I’ve never heard of any extra English test, it wouldn’t really make sense since Emirates already spends so much on you (visa, flights, accommodation, welcome pack, etc.) That said, the training is all in English, and it’s not basic, you need to be fluent to keep up and pass the exams. There are quite many tests during Training College, and if you don’t pass, they can send you back. So, I’d definitely recommend brushing up on your English and making sure you’re confident before joining))
