    I started using my old iphone xr as an ereader. I leave my phone in my locker at work and I just use my xr to read. I tried to use my ereader but since my job is dusty as hell, I didn't wanna ruin it.

    Chrome DOES have a negative chokehold on the web. I remember the internet explorer days. Now you’re seeing websites recommending users use Chrome and developers are using features added to Chromium but not adopted by the W3C. That leads to a situation where the web is beholden to chrome. Manifest V3 is a prime example of Google pushing standards that other browsers feel obligated to adopt that are bad for users and privacy.

    Yeah, you are too young to remember the end of internet explorer. I started my career as it was dying and wow was that a slow death. For a young dude you’re spreading a good message. Not being a poser like a lot of tech TH-camrs I see (lots of reciting the Wikipedia page without understanding it). Keep it up my guy

    My Asperger-ey ape brain just doesn't respect anything non physical, which I also can't relate via time and space. I open a physical book in any place and the meaning floats up, I know which things are where. But when I open e-reader my mind just goes blank. Everything mixes into blurry pile, no frame of reference at all, no connection.

    You inspired me to pick up a used Kindle Voyage for 50 AUD (~30 USD) and it is honestly so so so good. I used to be cynical of ereaders because I didn't understand the point of buying a device just for reading -- I've read all my life on my phone/tablet/computer -- but an e-ink device that's built just to do one thing (light weight; dedicated page turn buttons; no distractions from social media) has been such a blessing for my reading. It was amazing as it is, but I was able to jailbreak it and install koreader, and now with all of the different functionalities that koreader brings with it (custom gestures, support for all formats, better highlight export, etc etc) it is just .... *chef's kiss*. Highly recommend jailbreaking your kindle; I think FW versions till 5.15 are supported. Anyway.... all this to say, thanks! For the video! And thank god for used ereaders :D

    When Firefox did their third party ad thingy and claimed that people were too dumb to let it be turned off by default I switched over to Floorp. Lovely browser, and works quite well. But with how shit is going as of recent, the future is quite bleak until the Linux bros take over BTW: Lovely video, thank you for no music, and I like your body language and cadence while you speak

    It worse than that bruh, Mozilla as corp is an advertisement company in itself for a while and in 2024 there was a real shady forced CEO change, to a even more pro advertising leadership that is why the "Website Advertising Preference" was added to Mozilla, which was basically spying on users for advertisers, but in a more "private Mozilla way." Literally no point in using Firefox, even for a open web seeing how compromised they are.

    I suggest the kindle Voyage if you're still looking. It has the best clear reading experience beating even the latest kindles. It has this glass surface that amazon discontinued in subsequent models. I have 2 just in case the other one breaks.

    So it's industry standard now for cars to be the least privacy-friendly devices ever because every car company gotta get that data high? No one wants to be "Linux, but for cars" without resorting to a car from before the 2000s? Yep, we're doomed as a soyciety.

    • @saturns33
      @saturns33 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah I can't seem to understand why cars need so much data collection for reasons other than advetising and making money. Telemetry data (should be opt-in) is useful but beyind that it's just unnecessary and invasive. Not like any of this data collection is offsetting the price of new cars either. I hope in the future we'll have electric/hybrid/new cars in general that make focus on innovating the transportation and efficiency side of things rather than the "mobile smart home" stuff.

    What do u think of Tor browser based on mozilla

    • @saturns33
      @saturns33 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Tor is a pretty cool technology that has a place in the world since it allows you stay anonymous (provided you don't install a bunch of extensions and make yourself look unique inadvertently). It's even better that Tor is Firefox-based, and it's just all the more a reason we need Firefox to stay alive. Onion Browser, for instance, is an IOS browser that uses Tor routing and is developed by someone who works closely with the Tor project...but it's based on Safari's webkit engine and isn't quite as private as the official Tor browser. It's the only option for iOS since other browser engines are banned on it. Not sure if a chromium version would be as private either. It sucks that people abuse it for illegal purposes, but it is something that provides free access to information no matter where you are and is just a really well designed piece of software anyway.
