I don't know why, but this was such a fun watch. Pretty straightforward, but captured the anxiety, excitement, anticipation, and feeling of accomplishment running 100 miles. Great stuff and congrats Benny!

Super excited to do my second mary/ultra in WV. Being from Chicagoland the weather in the video looks nice for early December maybe even a bit warm.

Having ran several 100 milers and a ton of ultras, this documentary brought back memories I had forgotten. Memories of my first time struggling with the ultra distances. Got me choked up and emotional. Really glad you put this together for us to see what it’s like to run your first 100 miler. Well done. Great job Ben and team! ❤

Great video and amazing race! Its hard to train for the amount of mud that this race can throw at you. It will be interesting to see how he does if he sticks with ultrarunning. 😆17:12 was the brief second I was behind Ben snacking... Just an eating contest with a little bit of running..

when will registration open for 2025?

I grew up about two miles from the park in a place called "Markle." I remember it very well. I had a friend in elementary school who's family owned the farm that was sold for the county to purchase the park land.

This video is awesome. I'm doing the 20 mile 'fun run' this year. Can't wait!

If he ran most of that mile in lane 2 or 3 he likely ran 60-70 meters further than a full mile. He probably really ran the mile 10-15 seconds faster than what he clocked there.

Just rode the trail today. It was really nice, and surprisingly smooth.

Grandparents want to move there cuz some close fam lives there n we went through the worst here so we moving after 20 years in the smokie mountains n are selling 2 homes n we out. I like Sedona AZ, The Villages Fla, Port Saint Louie Fla, somewhere hot with year round popping sales, but im from SW fla on da beach. Well have fun n might see around.

Great video! As a road marathoner for the past 5 years, I've only just begun doing trail runs on easy days - I recently posted a virtual run through the woods - so much fun! Beautiful footage - i want to drive up there to run this trail so badly! Your post is very inspirational. As a fellow TH-camr, I love sharing my experiences and knowledge as well. I know how much goes into these videos! Keep posting - I just subscribed!

Very inspirational, Jed! I ran Track and Cross country in Jr High, High school and College. In High school I won a no. of league meet races in both track and Cross country but in college I only won one race my Senior year in the 1500 meters. I had been working with a sport psychologist and training about 70 miles a week. I had visualized myself running 3:51 which is the time I needed to run to qualify for Nationals. The psychologist said that I should have a "Trigger" at a certain point in the race when I wanted to start my kick to the finish. I chose the the final lap Bell as my trigger. This was our Conference championship race and before the race I looked around to see who my competition was. Out of the 8 runners I figured I should be somewhere around 4th or 5th by my previous time. The race started out a little slower than usual and by the bell lap I found myself in 5th place. One by one I began to pick off the runners ahead of me and as I passed the second place runner on the final curve I thought to myself I couldn't believe that I was going to take second at Conference. Well about a foot from the tape I out leaned the leader for the win. My Time: 3:51. When you prepare yourself physically as well as mentally, great things can be accomplished! Good luck.
