While the film wasn’t perfect, it was the perfect send off for David Brent 👌

I would have loved to have seen Chris Finch pop up in the last seen as David Brent’s mate to put the office bully in his place

Huge huge Office fan, but this film was crap. The Office itself is a huge character and without it, all the charm and humour of Brent's chracter disappears with it. Also, a film over a TV Mockumentry firmat just did not work at all.

i think this film worked if you were "only" a brent fan. but if you were an office fan, it felt flat, and in a way was a bit of a disservice to brents arc in the series. he stood up to the bully finch and found himself a lady that enjoyed his bs humour. happy ending. its hard to put into writing but i rewatched this recently, and i just couldnt get behind it. even with the supposed "happy" ending, it still left a bitter taste. sort of reminds me of the needless only fools and horses special episode where they reveal they actually became broke again after making their well earned money. also the sigh/laugh gervais introduced for the character seriously grated on my nerves.

OMG, that hand hold at the end was so romance at it's finest

0:12 It's insane how fast the atmosphere and the feeling switches from completely hilarious and absurd to actually relevant and kinda deep and true regarding these issue in life.

It should have been battery acid not water Brent deserves a lot of respect , an infuriating person but deep down a good person at heart.

Really enjoyed this film. And loved the fact that most of the people around Brent were nice people, who wanted him not to try so hard and relax and be happy. The rapper, the musician and his workmate. Concentrate on those who love and care for you. They're the ones that only matter. Fuck the haters in life. They're meaningless.

I like the way his friend tapped his arm prompting David to ask her for coffee. Heart-warming.

I was made redundant from a rock hard slog of a job a few years ago and this film puts it all together in perspective , from all of the sh*t that is thrown at us in life we aim to try and rebuild, find our happy, and get back on our feet from where we left off, genius acting from gervais and a kind of closure to David brents story 👌👌

This always reminds me of John Candy's character in Planes, Trains and Automobiles. He finally lets the mask slip and reveals the kind and lonely man hiding inside.

Epic and meaningful. On the face of it, nobody would guess what gems hide inside. Bravo to the writing. Bravo.

The movie sucked, but this was a wonderful ending for the character.

"I can live without being a success, but I couldn't have lived without trying, and I did that" - very touching words from Brent here. So many people are so obsessed at 'making it' whether it be acting, sports or music that they forgot to enjoy the journey. He knows he won't become a big star but he doesn't care because he loves being a musician as it is an escape from his mundane day job. It made him feel alive. He didn't want people to know him as a sales rep, nor did he want his job to become his identity, he wanted that to be a rockstar and good on him. I know lots of people didn't like this movie and I can see why; inconsistent script writing, character personalities not weighing up and plot mistakes. But I will admit this ending as really nice.

Brent one of the greatest comedy characters ever. Can go from laugh out loud watching to sadness and tears.

Just not sure why he started doing that weird laugh. Brent never had that before.

i was about to leave for the gym and now i'm sitting here fighting them tears... these 4 minutes are bordering on the cheesy in my opinion but never really get there, it's just very fucking emotional with all the right things being said. everyone expecting some 2002 style brent doesn't quite get it... while it's not my favourite film ever, i think these 4 minutes are really very beautiful.

Through the series, you only really see the tragic shell of David Brent. It's genuinely touching to see his soul emerge, when you start to see he is using laughter to stop himself from choking up. I love that they did the character justice by showing his emotionally vulnerable, human side. You can also see that dynamic in the US version of the office where Jim has this effortless rapport with children, but he doesn't have the clarity of introspection to see what people find valuable in him versus what his egoic aspirations are

The song "Electricity" in the final roll is absolutely awesome

Other back characters ain’t as good as office ones

THIS was the perfect postscript to the wonderful series. The main series was amazing, but the pathos related to David Brent was overwhelming. This postscript gives hope for his future.

The first 40 secs of this clip are essentially the start of After Life.

I love Brent...there are so many people who wander around with a face like a wet weekend, taking themselves and everything that happens all so seriously. Brent had every reason to moan like everyone else, but he didn't, he had a laugh..at the end of the day it's people like that that make the drudgery and absurdity of work bearable. He was right when he said you'll never have a boss like me.

Amazing view!

Very lazy ending - same as 'Office' Christmas special - Brent finally finds a woman who understands him, or who is willing to overlook his many obvious flaws, or just feels sorry for him. Come to think of it the whole film is more or less a warmed up rehash of 'The Office'. And yet, and yet... I watched it right through and I'd probably watch it again - there's something about Ricky Gervais and his loser schtick that we all can relate to.
