We Need to Form a "Supertribe" - Jens Heycke on Multiculturism
In this episode of EquianoPod, host Ada Akpala explores the complex issues of multiculturalism, immigration, and cultural diversity with guest Jens Heycke. They discuss the challenges of balancing cultural exchange with shared values, examine different approaches to integration, and explore the concept of forming a 'supertribe' identity. The conversation touches on "controversial" topics like mass immigration, cultural compatibility, and the future of Western societies. Heycke shares insights from his book 'Out of the Melting Pot, Into the Fire' and his extensive research across 40 countries. So join us for a thought-provoking discussion on one of the most pressing issues facing modern democracies.

Thank you Douglas, Know more?? "White Privilege" violates two fallacies of informal logic (fallacies of composition and division). The fallacies are NOT LIMITED to problems with language/ The fallacies also point to problems with human THOUGHT.

Yes im privileged every morning to have to get out of bed between 3 and 5 to go to work in the hopes of leaving something behind for my daughter and keep a roof over my family’s heads,,,leave the past in the past look forward and enjoy your time on earth,,yes terrible things happened it can’t be denied but stop playing the victim when you’ve never gone through what a lot of people went through of all races..

Funny isn't it that white privilege only exists in countries with a predominantly white population. The chances of a white person getting a job in the UK over someone non white is higher because of percentages not privilege.

Bizarre times, I grew up in the 80’s and African American slavery was a big talking point in school curriculum, it wasn’t censored in the slightest. It’s actually more censored now to accommodate kids that might be triggered by the graphic nature of the reality of it

One of the definitions of privilege is a right gained through effort or sacrifice. For example, approximately 360000 Union soldiers died during the civil war to end slavery. There are approximately 300000 soldiers buried in Arlington Cemetery. The total number of US military fatalities since 1775 is over 1.19 million. It safe to say the vast majority of these were white men.

My ancestors from 1950’s backwards lived in dire poverty. My father as a child lived in poverty. He fought the Germans in WW2 in the army. His father in BOTH wars in the Royal Navy. One generation backwards lived in poverty in Ireland in back breaking jobs for little money. They fled Ireland to England for a better life but still lived from week to week. No material possessions apart from table, chairs and bed. Meagre food. No luxuries. Hard graft in factories with low pay and no employmemy rights. The women worked through childbirth - no antenatal care - and worked through the menopause. The men died young through hard hard work. No health safety at work. Where is the white privilge here?

I don't agree with his arguments... black groups are less "advanced" not because they are black, but because they have literally been robbed from their homeplace and been given servitude from all over the Americas. Have y'all forgot apartheid in your country? USA has segregated blacks and whites because that was the desires of the whites in power. Poor whites suffer from poorness, but black poors suffer ALSO with racism...

Hold on, barely 10 seconds in and she's already confusing me. Teaching history in a jingoistic way? I'm pretty sure every kid in the UK knows about how awful the conditions of WW1 are, and the horrors of WW2. Even recent wars, like Iraq and Afghanistan are looked on with disappointment and regret. She sounds like the historical equivalent of english majors using 'kafkaesque' or 'orwellian' when they don't even understand what those words mean.

Arlington national Cemetery is full of “white privilege”. I would be happy just for us to have one standard that everyone is held to. But we don’t have that. And to suggest otherwise is to be carefully naïve.

You cannot call a massive group of people privileged to begin with..... The world (the best part of it ) the west gone wild) after centuries of tough life the west got to a certain standard that was pretty much acceptable for all....... That took guite some effort and hard work and after this point was established the rest of the world (the less developed) wanted a piece of that WHITE cake.....After the cake was eaten the complaining started... It's hard to know our fathers worked in the dirt 50 hours or more in a week who made this part of the world work like a oiled machine (for everyone) Get blamed for being privileged while the fact is they worked their ass off for all of us.....

I appreciate where Douglas is coming from, but I have a totally different take on white privilege. And that is you should not have to feel guilty about living in a Western society. One should feel proud that their ancestors created such a prosperous society with great technology, culture, laws, infrastructure etc. It is too simplistic to suggest that the reason other minorities are doing worse is simply down to slavery, colonization etc. In many instances these colonized nations are doing better off compared to how their societies were run beforehand. And the visible wealth/standard of living gap between western people living in their own country and minorities is largely due to the difference in struggling to assimilate into Western societies.

That’s just it though. They don’t want representation and respect. They want cash, they want spaces built paid for and maintained by those they hate. They want segregation. If they could have their own planet they would. They want to subjugate those who they think are subjugating them. It’s all literally just a giant scam.
