I loved this song as a kid. Mainly because i wanted that doll so badly. We would watch it around chirstmas time and I would quietly beg Santa for it when I'd go to sleep. I still want that doll and I'm a grown a$s adult.

As a child I felt it is neat how a little girl will put so much love of her own into the dollie to make her real and I thought at the time that the guy meant he will treat her like a doll because of all the imagination and love that he will put into the relationship of marriage with her, making them/her "come to life" like how a Dollie comes to life in the arms of a child...but back then I was not paying attention to the actual words, only that she was the only one for him just like a little girl has one special Dollie that she loves the very most above all other toys. So they would have a very special relationship shared only by the two of them, I thought. But now that I understand the lyrics, I see he was saying that her only reason for existing was to be his to enjoy and he also literally tied her up and pulled her back to him when she wandered off, like a dog on a leash, showing that she is not allowed to be her own person or have her own freedom and creativity. I think you can see from her expression that she does not like this. Then I was like hmm one guy wants her as his own personal pet dog or toy and the other guy wants her to come to live in his castle so he can pay all her bills and control her with money so she is in debt to him and not other people. I wish she could just stay single and start her own business or go get a college education and find a man to treat her as an equal. Also, as a child, the Count reminded me of the Count from Sesame Street. In my imagination, it was the same person. I believed he lived in Toyland before he moved to Sesame Street. He moved there because he got rejected by his crush, and he loved children and he still loves them. LOL Sesame Street gave him a new beginning. :)

....because she didn't. honestly not too different from young Disney actors today. their every move is dictated by the company and their contract. They are a product...not a person.
For the record. I'm 15, and grew up watching THIS movie, along with calamity jane, toby tyler, 7 brides for 7 brothers, I had a flashback of the movie a few minutes ago and I just had to find it :D

Why are people saying this is creepy?Its' only creepy if you have a certain way of thinking.
I think it feels weird because she is thinking of the children. But, then, he turns it into a song about him having her like a child having a doll. The subject was something selfless that is important to her. He changed the subject to him wanting her. That feels selfish and insensitive. Moreover, there are strong overtones of ownership and disrespect. Just look how aggressively he takes the doll, removes it from the scene, and relocates her body. As a Christian, I believe that husbands are to lead their wives, but that involves the husband considering his wife’s needs as his own. She is to be lead by the heart of a servant, not the hand of a master. So, things where men treat women possessively like this rather than protectively bother me. I feel like it reflects psychological nuances that would cause problems later. I am constantly guarding my mind to view women rightly, and there are a lot of poisonous messages out there. Very subtle ones like this are the most dangerous because they can go unnoticed and influence you subtlety enough that you do t realize your thought patterns being compromised.

Having had a State hot water heater for 24 years with not one single problem mine finally gave up the game & i replaced it with an AO Smith brand almost identical to the State. Not one single issue with the old State in all these years & it was putin the house in 1995. To say they suck well i for one will disagree with that statement. These Sand Hogs do NOT suck. You say your an experienced plumber well i'm not buying that & as all appliances eventually have some problems it doesn't mean they all suck. As these heaters are only supposed to last 7 to 10 years mine has paid for itself for sure.

I went to service mine this afternoon being proactive and mind you I do maintenance for a living and I had now problems getting the lower element out (20 mins) to remove it. It hadn't yet blown but it was full of hard water buildup and looked like a murder scene work how dark the water was. I put a standard 240V 4500W element in and hot water lasts maybe five minutes, so tomorrow I'll be putting in OEM Sandhog element's. But you stating you're a Professional and used a tow strap and Vice Grips up tenure remove yours tells me you definitely ARE NOT a Professional.

I get the romantic connotation between a man and a woman, being his doll. But as a woman, I can't help but find this offensive. A woman was not designed to be a man's play thing, she's not "just a toy" that's just demeaning! Sexually/ romantically I admit to being extremely submissive to my man. But outside the bedroom, I am no one's toy :/ this is just insulting to women.
Take it in the context of children's fantasy. That's what this movie was. A children's fantasy

Sadly, that's how most thinking was back then.Things have changed quite a bit since then, fortunately. I have raised my daughters to never tolerate bs like this. And they don't.
I hear you and you're totally right, but I see this scene as very much sexual play between them. Although there is a lot of other sexism in the movie like that she's going to marry Barnaby because she can't figure out finances. I forgive a lot of it for being 1961, but these days it's nice to see the women be co-heroes with the men.

The video and the music just aren't at the proper speed to match each other, that's either a glitch that happened when uploading the video or there's something wrong with the way it appears on the dvd. Back then if they didn't sing right there, they actually gave a damn trying to line it up.

Actually you can't. In the past, before the perfectly round cups of modern day bras came into style, bullet bras were in fashion. They are shaped more like triangles as to better cup the chest in a more natural shape. If you google it you'll see examples. Pretty much every old movie has the women in them.

He may be a 'Professional" but he doesn't know very much about water heaters and obviously isn't a plumber. So what if the drain is 1/2" higher then the element. The point is to get most of the water out. The element will come out he just doesn't know how to get it unstuck from the mineral deposits. Any brand of water heater will do the same thing. ( yes, I am a Master Plumber, with about 30 years experience.)
It's a 510E model installed in '91. The drain is lower than the heating element.
Have had one of these for over twenty years. Only had to replace the thermostat. Otherwise very reliable.

@@TheWakerra Eek! Aw, yes, I do see your point! I never gave much thought to the words that the guy sings, because as a child, I never paid attention to lyrics much. I was so little when I fell in love with music that I seldom understood them. Sort of letting them blur into sounds, or ignoring them altogether, became a bad habit that continues to this day. (Ironically, I earn my living as a musician, but even horn players are supposed to know the words. Shh!) Also, before this clip was put on TH-cam - and I forgot it was here, and was a little shocked to find that I'd commented besides! - I only had the record that Disney put out of "Babes in Toyland". I grew up in the very late '60s - '70; no home video back then. I was around 6 or 7 years old, and when the man - on the record, it was a studio singer - started singing, I thought that he was singing to an actual doll, even though it seemed a little weird, and never thought about it much after that (just like the joke behind "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" never occurred to me til I was 22 years old. Like I said, lyrics....). Like most little boys, I didn''t care much for ballads ("There's Always Tomorrow", the song Clarice sang to Rudolph, was my cue to go to the bathroom), so when this song at the end of side one came on, I often stopped it to turn the record over. I still say it's a lovely melody. Maybe, from now on, we could leave out the man's creepy part where the doll becomes metaphor. If I ever record it, it'll be an instrumental, anyway.
Just have to use a long narrow screw driver to get it out. All lower water heater elements can be a pain, it's not just that brand.
