Create an Amazing Air Compressor on a Budget!!!
My Compressor has finally kicked the bucket! I took on the challenge to build a new one from scratch, all while keeping it as cheap as possible without cutting corners. The old beast was noisy and dripped condensation everywhere. My mission? Create a quieter, faster compressor that delivers drier air. I had to scrub the tank, craft a new platform for the two-stage pump, and whip up a water-cooled aftercooler to significantly drop the air temperature. The end result was mind-blowing: I built a superior compressor for a fraction of the price of a new one, delivering quick air pressure, drier air, and a whisper-quiet operation!

My older brother Dennis had a 67. He replaced the 396 with a 427 (circa 1972-1973). To find matching numbers in this day & age? A miracle IMHO!

why use lead and not tin? does tin not bond as well or is more authentic to use lead?
The new stuff is technically more tin than lead I think it’s less than 30% lead

So why would you choose to do this over welding??
Don’t have the tools to create the curvature in the sheet metal. I thought about it but going back to a lead seam made more sense than loading it full of bondo.
But you could get an approximate shape and maintain a magnetic structure which would pass a continuity test when you use bog to smooth the shape after. Lead isnt magnetic so that will fail. Theres a reason we use sheet metal under repairs.@Firebrosgarage

Why use led?
Joints that are subject to stress and warping are more likely to crack plastic than metal (although lead is not a cure-all for improper engineering or assembly).

Question If u had a lead filler rod, Could one use it like brazing or soldering? Controlling the heat just right
I would think you could, the kit I am using is actually called a body solder kit.
This is pretty cool but why are you putting a leaded seam on the Camaro? What even is a leaded seam?
GM used leading to seal the welded seams I believe until the 70’s. I replaced the roof so I am just filling the seams after welding it.
