It's just fun to see the legacy black mage content lol -- the rotation seems basically the same, truly a job that stood the test of time even after many changes!

@DacianGradaMusic oh yeah thats for sure. I think it was in Shadowbringers, we had something called the NoB4 opener? Or maybe it was also Stormblood (end patches?) I truly cannot remember well enough, but yeah the evolution of BLM has been pretty steady, and now with DT its completely "different" without affecting its Job Personality :)

​@@viruendsingeryeah I heard of some whacky alternative openings and rotations over the years, but the core concept is the same and I'm glad the devs gave the job so much love from the start. There was also the cursed but fun paradox free movement period for like a few months in EW, truly wild times. 😂 Not gonna lie, even if now the "standard" is straight up fire for the whole opener + buffs and all that, no ice for a good while, I find myself preferring the classic b3 b4 to start with a "normal" fire phase, it just feels wrong to overcap on flare Star on purpose even if it's "correct"

@DacianGradaMusic I didnt even know overcapping FS was possible o.O that would hurt my soul, cause like 6 F4s is something that I've ingrained in my brain xD whether front or backloaded xD

@@viruendsinger oh I had a brain fart lol it's not overcap, it's just losing some stacks because you start in fire and also use Manafont but you only do one FS for that fire phase, so it's still "a waste" but technically a DPS gain because of the opener... It's weird and I hope it gets fixed somehow lol

Unfortunately I was not able to get a grasp of the Gaols mechanic, and after smacking our heads against it what felt like thousands of times, we had to use Auto Marker (mod) to get past it, and even with it, it was rough :/ While I did get the clear, I didnt get it 100% legit and that unfortunately will always haunt me, unless I go back and do it without AM if at least once to clear my conscience :) Also REALLY glad you enjoyed this one too 🥹 AND as for trying it. Just try it. Best advice I can give. I literally joined a learning party on a whim, and within like 3 runs we got to Ifrit. While yes its incredibly time consuming, it just teaches you to respect mechanics and learn to be confident in your knowledge. Its a blast too!! There was no planning that lead me to it, I just always wanted to, realized I had the time dedicate and just went for it. Got a taste of it, and then made/joined a static and after 3 months of trial and lots of error, here we are. I believe in you!!! 🫡

@@viruendsinger yeahhh I heard some QoL "help" is pretty common in PF but that doesn't make the achievement any less impressive! Even on the "easiest" ulti I'm sure it still takes a lot of time learning especially on harder jobs like BLM. I saw the struggle of not enough instant casts at that level in the more hectic phases and the clever use of downtime before we got the crazy changes in DT made it even more impressive! Yep that's my plan, JUST DO IT! I'd love to do TEA because the weapon design is just too awesome and theme-wise it's my favorite so far. There are a few long term goals I want to try once the patch content dies down, around .5 or so. For now we have the new stuff to look forward to! I want to try the chaotic alliance on Black Mage because I like suffering I guess :P

@DacianGradaMusic I agree. Thats my favorite thing is being part of all the optimizations, and changes. I beat UwU on 6.5 BLM and I feel like UwU now would feel QUITE different considering I can lock in US3 and be ready for burst phases more often. :D

@viruendsinger LOL it's of course just speculation from vod analysis, but that's the general idea in the balance and among no life BLM players :P it's the perks of having a Black Mage producer haha

At the very least the 2 LL stacks is real in that particular footage, who knows if it'll be in the patch though (likely, it's not even that huge of a change since the cool down was still 2min)

@@DacianGradaMusic yeah but you can burst more comfortably if thats the case and MAN would that be nice!! I find myself holding on to LL for far too long sometimes for fear of misplacing them or simply losing out on them. 😅 also how CRAZY would it be if they got the TripleCast treatment and the 2 are available on the pickup of the skill :D

@@viruendsinger oh yeah it's a very welcome change! It'll make adapting the burst window very comfy since most buffs are 20s or so while LL is 30s. Much better solution than other jobs that have like 110s cool down or whatever... Still a minor change that I hope is indeed paired with something crazy like instant despair lol

Not for me, idgaf about thr money and whatnot, Im just hoping it could teach some up and coming BLMs :D

@viruendsinger I always do Duty Support for first runs so I can take my time admiring the new dungeons and whatnot, it's also nice when you can't be bothered to deal with people and just need a quick tome run or whatever (I've had plenty of weird interactions in recent leveling stuff haha but might just be bad luck) I hope more people will see this, it's a nice journey to follow and see how one goes about re learning a job basically from scratch! I know I did the same for many jobs when I started, just to see how the rotation goes from low lvl to max.

@DacianGradaMusic its my own personal training "regime" its how I've learned all jobs. Granted Im not great at the full optimization of rotations, but I do habe a gist of how most work. Im super glad to hear you support the idea of this series, it makes me incredibly happy. And Im hopping its entertaining through to the end. :D As for the people, I prefer people \o/ sometimes you get the mean or aggressive-for-no-reason people, I just ignore them, I just vibe with the community and joke around, it works 89% of the time, and I like those chances :)

@@DacianGradaMusic yeah F4 brought everything nicely together. I cant remember if I speak about it, but I rememeber when Enochian was a castable, and how I screamed when SB dropped and it was HEAVEN getting 3 extra seconds on the Eno timer. And that B4 no longer reset Eno in 5 second diminishing return increments. While it was NEAT to have all that management it became a chore so quickly, especially when compared to how other jobs were progressing xD Also nice, I never did BA, but brave of you to do it on BLM :D

@DacianGradaMusic its certainly interesting seeing the growth of some of the jobs :D but with how much you like the "challenge" job of BLM. You might've really enjoyed it back then too :D

@viruendsinger that'd be awesome! Might need to do less DMG since it wouldn't be a GCD anymore but it's still a great idea. Weaving on BLM is already a cool challenge since if you don't want to clip you have to plan your weaves carefully, so veterans would be happy with that change too.

@@DacianGradaMusic for sure! I'd MUCH rather take a hit off the damage on cast and maybe like a 5 potency drop off the DoT itself, to be able to keep it up properly :D
