It was so fashionable for both genders to smoke cigarettes in those days. I remember the house parties as a child when everyone took great pride in their appearance and holding a cigarette was elegant and part of the fashion scene. Smoking has declined as has pride in our appearance. Can’t have it both ways I guess.

Everyone knew how to dress back then. As for the flasher it was an adult party with alcohol involved. Probably just got a little tipsy and silly.

The railroad is the Erie, either pre-merger with the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western ~ 1960, or not long enough after for the rolling stock to have been repainted as Erie-Lackawanna. The commuter coaches were what were known as "Stillwells", after their designer, and were stalwarts of that system for many years. The location is less clear, though given the two-track line, the size of the buildings, etc. suggests one of the major towns/cities on the Erie main line in the NYC commuter district, perhaps in New Jersey - Paterson or Passaic, maybe. No idea what the location of the section showing folks in what looks like an old village setting may be.

My grand mother tried to teach me how to play that card game in the mid 60's. I wish I could remember what it was called?
